Correct me if I'm wrong, but they never said anything about the retooling involving toning down the adult humor ,which by the way, the Muppets have always had. If you want more family friendly Muppets that's what sesame street is for.

I doubt I'd say anything in The Muppets was "adult", or that anything in Sesame Street was geared for families.

I completely agree. But I will say that there's been nothing on this show that would be inappropriate for a child to see, regardless of whether you like the format they initially went for or not.

I hope it gets picked up for a second season!

The season 1 finale was so exciting to end it right now...

Well...it's official. Cancelled.:

Maybe it's for the best. The Muppets should stay as a family friendly franchise. But for what it's worth, Kristin Newman did a great job for the remainder of the show starting with the Christmas episode.

Sad to see it go. Never understood the complaints about the tone being too adult. It was a new take on the Muppets, but they've always had some adult oriented humor. Nothing on this show was that scandalous anyway, unless you're a Puritan. People are so hard to please sometimes, especially with things they have nostalgia for. Nevertheless this never found an audience so I'm not surprised, even though I enjoyed it.

The complaints come from groups like One Million Moms (which hardly has one million moms in the group) who are nothing but complete psychos.

I saw a lot of regular fans and articles complaining about the adult humor being too jarring for them too.

Wasn't it also character derailment? I wouldn't be surprised that had something to do with it as well.

Seriously, a Muppets show where the characters are antagonistic with each other? Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy breaking up? Kermit manipulating everybody? This doesn't sound like something one would expect from the Muppets.

C'mon, these are characters that are meant to ENJOY each other's company despite getting on each others' nerves every now and then. I know they were trying to do cynical adult approach, but come on now. That just doesn't FEEL like Muppets.

Agreed. It was a fun, entertaining show and occasionally heartfelt too. It was way better than the two most recent theatrical films. It's a shame.

Yeah, that was a major complaint as well. I understand to some degree, but again, I think it was overblown.

I think if people stuck with it they would have enjoyed it more. Kermit and Piggy were always obviously going to be brought back together again, and they had several very touching moments in the latter half of the series.

That sucks, but at the same time, not surprising. And certainly not a good sign when the season ended early, as if the network was trying to dump the show.

It took a few episodes to get used to the new format, but I grew to really like it. And hoped the Muppets would remain in the public eye for some time.
