That's exciting. Hope we'll see Peter Pan soon as well.

I'm still holding out for Goofy!
Yes, I forgot about him and Oswald too for that matter. I also would love to see Daisy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Pete.

The only consolation is that at least the sequel looks better than the first movie so I'm not minding as much as I did before. But the 1951 Alice is one of my favorite movies (and characters) so its a pity that it won't be represented here. Same with Maleficent.

I'll only by the original animated versions. I skip the live-action versions.

Disney Infinity Canceled; Disney Exits Console Publishing; Avalanche Shut
Disney statement:
“After a thorough evaluation, we have modified our approach to console gaming and will transition exclusively to a licensing model. This shift in strategy means we will cease production of Disney Infinity, where the lack of growth in the toys-to-life market, coupled with high development costs, has created a challenging business model. This means that we will be shutting down Avalanche, our internal studio that developed the game. This was a difficult decision that we did not take lightly given the quality of Disney Infinity and its many passionate fans.”
I feel sorry for the people who could play and enjoyed Disney Infinity, but I don't feel bad about it ending. It was a ripoff. I wish an Ursula figure had been made though.
Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
Well, this is sudden. Although I never got into the video game, I always loved the idea of using the figures as collectables since they were so well-crafted.
Anyways, I'm mourning Disney's wasted potential to use their original IPs to actually create good video games. For example, Zootopia would make a great open-world video game in the hands of a capable developer. But, alas, Disney is now restricting itself to "free" ripoffs of other games for mobile devices.
I'm surprised because I thought Disney Infinity was a big seller. Especially with its Marvel and Star Wars expansions.

I am also surprised because I thought they were doing so well. I also thought Dinsey made video games that weren't "rip-offs", don't know why some of you are saying all they do is rip-offs.
Not surprised one bit, especially when it comes to their digital content. But you know, this is Disney and they must please the shareholders.
I got into Infinity a little bit as I was curious about the tech. I did get Infinity 1.0 and 2.0, but realized it started to be a money pit. The figure for the first two were in the $10-$12 range. But when 3.0 came out and I saw the figures jumped to $16.99, I said no thanks. It's a shame. I actually liked playing the Marvel games in 2.0, and enjoyed the Lone Ranger playset in 1.0.
Other areas are taking a hit too, such as at Club Penguin - and I got good sources in Kelowna where Penguin is based. It's shrinking. A number of people were laid-off and it may not be around for much longer either.
This also reminds me of Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK) which got popular, and then Disney suddenly shut it down back in 2008.
There lack of classic Disney kept me from ever really diving in. Characters like Pinocchio, Goofy, Simba, Cinderella, Robin Hood, Chip 'n' Dale, Dumbo, Pocahontas, Cruella, animated Maleficent, animated Alice, Mowgli, Oswald, Dopey, Pluto, etc., were very much needed. And what happened to Peter Pan? I'm not aware that he was ever released. Will he still be?
Look, that's wonderful fans who enjoyed Marvel or Star Wars characters in this thing, but as a fan of the classic Disney brand, it's kind of a lame that a game called "Disney" Infinity lacked so much of the classic Disney brand. I feel this game will forever be a waste that could have been so much more. And don't even get me started on the lack of Darkwing Duck. Teased, but never released. *sigh*
