What´s happening with THE SILLY SYMPHONIES LP collection?

Post by Chernabog »

Anyone knows what happening? Is the Collection delayed? Shouldn´t it be charged to your creditcard and shipped between 20th and 24th of November. I have not got any answer on my question to Disney Music Emporium. !!!

I just looked up the collection on Amazon.com, the release date has been pushed back to December 18th.

Thanks for that info Disney Guru.
Disney is driving me mad............not a single word about this to us that have ordered the set....how difficult can it be to send out an email to all the ones that have preordered and give that update.

One thing they absolutely are NOT GOOD at: handle delays and give proper information to their customers.

This is not the first time either - remember all the confusions during the Legacy Collections release-schedule....
II thought I was dealing witha professional Company with so many years of experience with customers....but no.

Oh my, oh my, shop from Disney...but it means more of delays and bad/missing info instead of a product in your hand.
Well, no Silly Symphonies for this Christmas then, escpecially not for us here in Europe. The shipping use to take months. :(

I've had nothing but problems with that Disney Music Emporium site. The thing is, it's not run by Disney. It's run by a company called MyPlay Direct. They run merchandise sites for various artists, bands and movies. They also run a site called PopMarket.

I had preordered the Silly Symphony set the day it went on presale on the Emporium website. There happened to be a deal going on where you saved 20% on an order if you used your Disney Visa card. Well, of course they never gave us a firm release date on the set. So, when it came time for them to charge my card to ship the set, my card declines because I was just using it down in Disney World and hadn't paid the card so money would be there. Foolishly, I thought they might actually tell us when the thing would ship. But, not only did my card decline. Apparently this MyPlay company cancels your order after one decline. There's no chance to try another card or anything.

So, I contact them explaning the situation. They tell me there's nothing they can do about the discount I got on Disney's Emporium site. But they could give me 20% off if I ordered the set through their PopMarket site. They even said the bonus 10" vinyl would be included. So, I ordered it from there. I got the set itself, but I saw no sign of the 10" Skeleton Dance record. When I looked again, I saw no mention of it in my invoice (although it is pictured in the listing itself on their site). I'm awaiting a response from them, but don't have a good feeling about what I'll hear back.

I also had done the pre-order on the complete Legacy Edition series with the lithographs when they had that on the D23 site. I can't tell you how many times I had to contact them because the lithograph, CD or both were damaged because of bad packaging.

If anyone happens to know of an email or snail mail address or phone number where I might be able to contact someone from Disney who might be able to do something about the Music Emporium website, I'd love to have it. I'm used to getting great service from Disney; but this MyPlay Direct is going to drag that reputation down if Disney allows them to keep doing this.

Yes I can only add to that unpleasant experience with my own - you are not alone in this.

I had my first preorder declined.
I made a new one (because as you state, they cancel your order after just one decline).
This got declined too, even that I used another credit-card.
I then try to buy my set through Amazon, because they had it there and stated the same item description as on DisneyEmporium (that it should include the whole set on digital download and so on).
Hell no, there was no digital download included.
And this they told me when they have already shipped the package.

The digital download was the reason that I bought the set, since my record player is since long gone dead.
So now I will end up with nothing it seems, since Amazon beg me to send the set back to them when it reach me.
But I´m in Sweden - it will in no possible way reach me during the time that they say it must be returned.
And on top of that, I must pay heavy custom taxes for the package, just to get it in my hands, so I can send it back...... :x

I wrote to DisneyEmporium and explained everything and asked: "If I can prove that I have bought the set (through Amazon) can they provide me with a link to the digital download?"
No answer as of yet!

So I really wonder, is there anyone here who have bought the set and actually got the link to such a download for the whole set?
I begin to questionize it all, with all this trouble occuring it seems somwthing is wrong with all this....

And it is a lot of money for this set!!!!!!

I find it weird that they'd say there's no download code. It's included with the package. In fact, it's one of the first things Leonard Maltin shows in the unboxing video. Now whether or not it works in all countries, that I don't know for sure. I don't know if you'll get the response you're looking for by contacting the Disney Music Emporium. That's just contacting My Play Direct, the company that deals with shipping the items. I personally can't find a way to contact Walt Disney Records, but here is a link to the Contact page for Fairfax Recordings, the group who helped Disney prepare the set: http://fairfaxrecordings.com/contact/

They should hopefully be able to tell you if you'll be able to use the download code in your country. And if you can't, they'll hopefully be willing to do something for you since those were a reason for your purchase.

I really want to find out who I can contact on Disney's side about this. They're offering such great stuff on that site. It's a shame that the company they hired to run it is providing such a bad buying experience from there.

Based on the evidence here, I have this suspicion the download is for US/Canada only, which might be why you were getting declined.

I ended up ordering through Amazon due to having the same credit card issue as above and it did come with the digital download card and I got my downloads. I ordered it through Amazon.com. I can't speak for Amazon.uk or whatever though. If the issue was that non-US/Canada boxes had no code, if it isn't much more in price, shipping, etc, order through Amazon.com. Of course you'd have to return the other to Amazon ASAP and say it was incomplete.

From the way I read it, Chernabog doesn't actually have the set yet. And from what I've seen, the set is only being released in the US and Canada. I've seen no evidence of a release in other countries. And the only Amazon I've seen it on besides the US and Canadian ones is the Japanese Amazon site. They list the set as being an import.

So, I would think that all of the boxes will come with a download card. Whether they will work outside of the US and Canada, we'll have to wait until Chernabog either gets the set or hears back from Fairfax Recordings.

True, I have not got the box set yet.
I ordered it from the US Amazon site.
I will let you all know if there is any codes or not (and if the link works from here), when I have the set in my hands.

I finally got my copy of the set and, after reading the card that has the download codes, can tell you that unfortunately, the downloads are only good for the USA, according to the card.

On top of that, the site to download the digital copies of the albums isn't the best. Each volume has a code and they give you two chances to download them. But I was only able to download half of them. The other half timed out with an error while trying to download them. I currently am waiting on a reply to see if I can have another go at trying to download them.

God, this seems like very bad news for me. :x
Such a cheat of Disney to do this - they adverticed it as being available to download in all countries.
When I get this there will DEFINATELY be a return to Amazon for me.
I dont want this at all if I don´t get the things that Disney promised before.

And the DAMN Music Emporium they dont answer at all.
And all comments on the product are taken down - I guess people have begun to complain and that they don´t want that to be seen... (or at least I can not see it where it used to be on the bottom of the item page there).

WHAT A SHAME OF DISNEY to promise and not deliver....

And this I paid 429 US dollars for. I feel real cheated!

Oh, wow, Chernabog, I'm so sorry. I hope you can get your money back, this thing's expensive. :o :(

I have to be honest, from what little experience I've had using the Disney Music Emporium, it's absolutely terrible. I'm never buying anything from them.

Like I said, the site isn't run by Disney themselves. It's run by a company called MyPlay Direct. They also run other sites, which I've also had bad experiences with. And it'd be great to find out who I could contact at Disney to let them know that this company is dragging down what could be a great website with their horrible customer service.

Chernabog, I hope you are able to get a full refund, including shipping, from Amazon. Neither their website or any of the Disney press releases mentions anything about the downloads being restricted to certain countries.
