The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki on Blu-ray!

Post by UmbrellaFish »

http://www.amazon.com/Collected-Miyazak ... o+miyazaki

Amazon Exclusive for release on November 17 according to users on Blu-Ray.com. No price set yet.

Will be a great buy for me because I haven't bought any of these films on Blu-ray yet. Just so long as the price isn't too exorbitant, but knowing Disney...

I saw this earlier, and was in awe. I keep on stalling my purchase of Spirited Away, which was really the only Miyazaki/Ghibli film that I wanted to own, but this looks too cool to pass up if the price is fair.

It even has Castle of Cagliostro!

It's priced at $249.99, which isn't exactly a steal, but I would bite at $200, I think.

That's about what I was expecting....It will get down to $200 though at some point, unless it's a crazy-limited release.

I'm gonna save up for this now since I haven't purchased on of the blu-rays yet.

I won't lie, I'm waiting for Disney/Marvel to announce a Phase 2 box set similar to the Phase 1 brief case soon. If that doesn't end up happening, I might bite the bullet for this price. Otherwise yeah, I'd prefer to wait for a price drop.

It's now dropped to $225 on Amazon. Would not surprise me if it goes even lower than that.

I haven't bought any of them on Blu-ray, so this may be something I order on Black Friday.

I already own five of the eleven titles on Blu-ray, so I'm sort of on the fence with this release. The only two I don't own at all are Lupin III and Porco Rosso, and it would be much cheaper to buy those individually than go for this whole set. But the set is really beautiful...

I got it, too. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving break next week when I can sit down and watch these films. So many of them are new to me, but I didn't feel bad about the blind buy because it's Miyazaki.

The boxset is marked as region free and I tested the Castle of Cagliostro disc on my multi-region player and it really is region free. I assume the other disc are also region free.

I would really like to get this, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it. On Blu-ray/DVD, I already own Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and The Wind Rises; so, I would only be getting Lupin III and Porco Rosso. This release also, apparently, doesn't have any of the extras previously made for those releases, though does have some new features. The video quality is supposedly better, too, as well as improved subtitles on all the films. It's also in a nifty box with an accompanying booklet. It would be nice to have them all in a collection, but pulling the trigger on a $200+ set, in which I own most of the films, doesn't seem worthwhile. But I also want it...

I didn't get this, but I was able to get the steelbook collection for all the films that had them (and normal Blu-rays of the others) over the past two years. Those steelbooks are gorgeous when they're all together. Reminds me of how the Disney VHSes growing up always had the diamond at the bottom of the spines.
