Toy Story 1 or 2?

Post by Sekaino Jasmine »

Which is your favorite? Toy Story 1 or 2?

I personally like the second one better.

Without a doubt, the first one. The sequel is great, too. But the first one's got better songs (second one needed Randy's voice, man ok), the plot is stronger (than the sequel's two running plotlines), Buzz and Woody are together for most of the film, the characters are better (Al and the Roundup gang can't compete with the mutant toys and Sid), and the adventure sequences felt less like "we have to include some of these near the end."

But, both movies being pretty much perfect, Pixar surely did a wonderful job with Toy Story 2. (Just an even more wonderful job with the original!)

You know, for the longest time, I prefered the second one. It seemed to have a better story, more fun to watch, more heart, all of that. Plus, you gotta love all those SW references. But recently, I've really come to like the original more. Not really sure why, but the last few times I watched it, I enjoyed it much more. And as Luke already touched on, things seem to flow more naturally in the first than they do in the second. So I'll say Toy Story. Both movies are empecably well-made, and its hard for me to pick just one, but the edge goes to the first.

I'll go with the second, though I love the first one, too. To me, the second feels warmer and not as cold as the first. I also like the story a bit more than the original's because, well, I felt there was more of one. The original's story spent so much time aquainting us with characters and settings that by the time the plot kicked in, the only real plot was "we gotta get out of Sid's house." Again, I love the first one (and, heck, I love the non-story bits where we just see the characters being themselves), but I guess I'm more of a story person than character person. I will agree, though, that the original had much better music ("When Somebody Loved Me" is a beautiful song, but we needed more Randy on the soundtrack). All in all, both are genius films. :D

I picked the first because it had "falling with style".

Hard choice, for a while I thought that I liked the first one better, but it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I realized I like the second one better.

But they are both very, very close!

The first one, for me. I never liked the second one as much. It was good, but ... I like the first one more.

I need to watch the 2nd one again first, it's been too long. I'll get on that in the near future. I just watched the first not too long ago, though.

Very good question.

I love them both so much, but I give a slight nod to the Original.
No real reason I can point to, beacuse I really don't have any negatives for either one.

It was great to see a sequel though that upheld the quality and integrity of the first film.

Hmmm, well it's kind of hard to decide, I really loved and enjoyed both films, they really did an outstanding job on each one of them. I like the first one's plot a little better I guess, but I suppose the second one is more exciting. I loved Jessie in the second film, the song "When Somebody Loved Me", it made me burst into tears. Anyway, I guess I enjoyed the second one a tiny bit more, so I'll vote for Toy Story 2.

Well I just watched the 2nd again, just a week or 2 after watching the first again as well. I'm gonna go with the 2nd one, but it's very tough. I think this one is more adventuresome, creating more suspense. *SPOILER- In case you somehow haven't seen this.* That's probably because instead of having just Sid to battle against, you have the combination of Al, Stinky Pete the Prospector, Emperor Zurg, and the 2nd Buzz (at first). Woody and Buzz are also friends the whole time, which I like, as it provides the sense of this being a family of toys, which I like better. Also, there is actually a song sung by the characters- and they acknowledge "You've Got A Friend In Me" when they hear it, so it comes closer to a musical than the first (which, to me, is very cool). I also thought it was a tad funnier.

But please don't mistake this as me thinking any less of the first- they both are amazing and nearly tie! :)

Toy Story 2 appeals to me more. I love the nostalgia aspect of Woody's Roundup. Plus, it never hurts to show how far "adults" go to sell collectible toys. Come on! Open those MISB toys let them breath for goodness sakes!

Toy Story 2. I can't really explain why, other than I just love it more. It could be because I like Jessie's character (and song). Overall, I just like it better.
