Except that's kind of canon even without the third film. Most TLM medias have that storyline woven in. It's the reason Triton is so against the humans in the first place. But Ariel knows that, just like there are cruel seafolk AND nice seafolk, the same goes for humans as well. The story purpose was quite unlogical, actually. If Ariel's mother was killed by humans, it makes no sense to make Ariel fascinated by them.

Fair enough, but I still consider it to be unlogical. Since Ariel knew her mother (though it's stated that she didn't remember her that much), it should've made Ariel afraid of humans. Sure, Ariel is wiser than Triton.Miss Manday wrote:Except that's kind of canon even without the third film. Most TLM medias have that storyline woven in. Disney issued a press release announcing that The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar (a TV film that serves as the pilot for the series) will premiere on Nobember 22 on Disney Channel. Disney has released a teaser trailer for the film, a poster, promotional images and several stills.
It's confirmed that the film takes place inbetween The Lion King II. The new stills show Kiara as a cub.

This isn't Marvel or Star Wars, there is no "cannon." Just projects that star Disney characters.estefan wrote:As a personal rule, I always consider any sequel, tv series or other medium made outside of Walt Disney Animation Studios to be non-canon. The television series have always been terrible with continuity (the 101 Dalmatians show was a particular headache since it included elements from both the animated film and live-action film).
That said, Aladdin: The Series and the two sequel films did a good job of keeping some kind of "cannon" if you wish for such things with the original film. Legend of Tarzan wasn't too bad either!

is it just me or does Rafiki in the still look like 2d shading on a cgi model? He has a weird looking lifeless mannequin look to him. Simba is just obviously a result of them having simplified the design for the tv show.

Really? So Mufasa can just sort of show up when he pleases...
It looks too much of a rehash of all things Lion King. Then again, this is aimed at the young ones. They like watching the same thing over and over and over.

That doesn't even look like Mufassa to me (even though I know it is)
And yeah, I don't like that Kion (or anyone other than people who knew him personally) can just see him. I always saw cloud mufassa as a figment of their imagination.

Brand new trailer

So, this confirms that this place during Lion King 2 with young Kiara, being present. Despite flaws, the animation looks gorgeous. But, man. Simba's voice

Re: Lion King spin-off "The Lion Guard' to air on Disney Jun
It's still non-canonical. Same with all the other direct to video cheapquels and movie-based TV shows. The company considers them non canonical and so should the friends of the characters in the parks such as yourself. To acknowledge them as canon is disrespectful to the company and what they do or don't consider canon.Miss Manday wrote:Except that's kind of canon even without the third film. Such things are supposed to only be brought up by a character if a guest mentions them specifically to the character in question first. If not, they should not be mentioned because it can make them, especially those of us who hate the cheapquels and movie spin off shows, feel very uncomfortable and create an extremely awkward feeling.
Besides, most people have never even seen the cheapquels or heard about that. And the chepquels are certainly not famous like the original films are.

New TV spot for The Lion Guard. I can't believe they're using Disney's Descendants to promote this. This is the freaking Lion King we're talking about. It doesn't need cross-promotion from that ridiculous franchise.

Indeed. It's beyond cringe-worthy and dumb.Sotiris wrote:I can't believe they're using Disney's Descendants to promote this. This is the freaking Lion King we're talking about. It doesn't need cross-promotion from that ridiculous franchise.![]()
Either way, I liked the animation of Mufasa, but I wasn't particularly impressed with the rest of it.
