Great to hear. I'm excited to see whatever he comes up with. This also makes my earlier blind guessing a little more grounded - I could definitely see Claire leaving to work with her dad at his new company.

Personally, I would love to see Glen become the Don Bluth of this generation. After all, John Mayer is apparently the Sheryl Crow of this generation. 8)

That's different. He left because of his dispute with Walt over The Jungle Book. Claire Keane doesn't seem to be leaving the studio disgruntled.

Only if they're doing so as part of their job there. They're allowed to work on personal projects on their own time (given they're not using studio resources to do so).

That's too soon to tell. We don't know yet if Keane will be able to actually produce a feature there. He may focus on shorts or illustration. He did say he's going to start small. I'm a bit skeptical if he'll be able to do a feature any time soon. Indie features are a tricky business. It's difficult to find financial backing for such big projects. His best bet would be crowdfunding.

Aaron Blaise and Chuck Williams Kickstarted their animated movie, "Art Story". Glen Keane could very well do the same.

It's nice that Glen is founding a new production company. I hope he does a lot of great things while he's there.

But I'm praying that this won't end up like what happend to James Baxter when he founded his own company. I hope that doesn't happen for Glen.

If he starts up his own studio then he could potentially convince Don Bluth to join him on a project. I would really be happy to see Bluth do a movie again. :D

Ew. I'd much rather Glen do his own thing.

Following this report from 2012, Glen seems to have confirmed working on this project in a December 2014 interview.
Q: Speaking of music, during our first meeting (that was in Paris in 2002, for the release of Treasure Planet), you told me that one of your dreams was to create a animated sequence on Beethoven’s 9th symphony. Twelve years later, what became of that dream?

Glen Keane: As a matter of fact, that’s exactly what I’m working on now! That’s the highest mountain to climb! I woke up this very morning with thoughts about how to communicate this. I always thought Fantasia imposed stories for the pieces of music, and it bothered me a little. I think that this is going to be less Disney in the approach and much more of a creative and artistic expression celebrating what’s already in Duet: Destiny, the purpose of mankind, and ultimately, the blessing of joy, which is very much what Beethoven’s music is about, especially in the last movement. In this case, I’m really trying to express and describe what I think is actually existing in the music. I’m really hoping and praying that all the inspiration I need and resources come together just like they did for Duet.

You know, we aren’t in control of all of these things. We’re artists with our hands waiting to receive inspiration. You need humility to create art. I never liked the idea that animation is an industry. My calling is really as an artist. That’s the foremost approach in my animation. Now, leaving Disney, I’m enjoying this freedom to express myself without the constraints of a big studio. It’s just more difficult to actually find partners to do that kind of animation. That’s one of the goals now. Google is a wonderful company because it has access to pretty much every human being on the planet. Also, this is not Hollywood. Working in the Silicon Valley creating animation was really an unusual event. To create a little animation studio there was really refreshing. You can’t help think things differently there.

So, as you can see, at the time we first talked about it, it was just a dream and now it’s actually becoming a reality.

always love reading from Glen. Im surprised he lasted in the studio system as long as he had considering how anti-studio(as in a business) his views on animation are.
