So.. Yep. :) I'll stick to Hot Topic's picture discs which cost $20.
:o

28 x $25 (Going by their price per record for the Silly Symphony set assuming each disc will be its own record (2-4 records per album) ), you're looking at $700. If each disc needs to be split into two discs, like what might need to happen with Fantasia with its long tracks, you're looking at $1400 or it's just Fantasia that needs it you're looking at $875.

I would love to know their audio sources for the records. If their source is the CDs then forget it, I'll stick with the CDs.

Assuming this is true, I wonder if they'll ever be made available individually? I'd certainly get Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid (assuming it has more tracks than the Hot Topic record).
I would hope they get released individually. If they're re-releasing the Legacy Collection then I would assume the track listings would be the same. Mary Poppins could end up being a $100 album though. It's 4 CDs. A 4-LP set at their rate for the Silly Symphony collection of $25 per record would give you that. That's assuming it can all fit on 4 records. If it's $20 per record x 4 you're looking at $80 for Mary Poppins.

But, The Tron Legacy - 2LP set on Disney Music Emporium is going for $29.99. If we go by the $15 per record, Mary Poppins would be $60 and The Little Mermaid $30.

28 x $15 gives you $420 for the whole box set. Not bad for $28 records.

or if Fantasia has to be doubled then $525.

Yeah, I mean, CD sales have been dropping every year. I hope that Disney wasn't expecting these to do gangbusters.

There's one on the B&N pre-order.

Are L&tT and The Aristocats supposed to come to Amazon at some point (besides digitally, I mean)? I don't know if I should wait for a lower price than $17 or not.

Thanks. Looks like a great set since it'll have the complete score (for the first time) + "She Never Felt Alone" and additional Lost Cords tracks not previously released to itunes.

On one hand, it's strange to see a lesser known title get the deluxe treatment, but that's exactly what this line should be used for.

Excellent choices. Here are the ones I'd love to see released. I really hope they continue the line. Plus from the following The Rescuers and Robin Hood have never had a proper soundtrack release so it would be great to hear them in full as well as deleted songs (and wouldn't a Bedknobs one be fantastic?!, love Angela Lansbury singing Nobody's Problems). And I'd REALLY love Mulan and Hunchback edition's so we could finally hear the full uncut version of Reflection and the original version of Someday. Come on, Disney - this is too exciting :D

2016
Dumbo (75th Anniversary)
Alice in Wonderland (65th Anniversary)
101 Dalmatians (55th Anniversary)
Bedknobs and Broomsticks (45th Anniversary)
Beauty and The Beast (25th Anniversary)
Hunchback of Notre Dame (20th Anniversary)

2017
Snow White (80th Anniversary)
Bambi (75th Anniversary)
The Rescuers (40th Anniversary)
Aladdin (25th Anniversary)
Hercules (20th Anniversary)

2018
Peter Pan (65th Anniversary)

The Disneyland set is at a good price on Barnes and Noble today, for anyone who wants it and hasn't already got it. I really considered buying it myself (since I bought Aristocats, Pocahontas, and L&tT this morning), but I decided I'd only be getting it for a couple medleys and Fantasmic, so I passed.

I'd love if they went three more years, since that would probably cover the majority of the films I'd like to see get this treatment (Bedknobs, B&tB, TSitS, SW&tSD, Aladdin, Hercules, Mulan, Bambi, etc.). But I definitely worry they'll drop this due to low sales, which would be a shame. But I'd also hate if they suddenly got a new artist after having the whole series so far be done by another; it wouldn't stop me from buying future releases, but it would ruin the consistency for me.

Oh my gosh I forgot the Disneyland disc was out ! Its on iTunes for £10 ... do people think its worth getting ? I've just seen that TLM score is 'Album Only' darn it, but I'm assuming the rest of the disc is worth it for some Disneyland magic ? Baring in mind I don't have any of the Disneyland stuff at all, only Disneyland Paris ....

Any advice greatly appreciated !

If you don't have any Disneyland music, than this would be a good purchase. How interested you are in the other tracks will depend upon your interest of Disney rides in general, but if you like listening to the music found at Disneylad Paris, you should enjoy the set. The Fantasyland dark ride suite in particular is excellent (and something everyone on this forum would probably like). 10 pounds also doesn't seem like too much for what is physically a 3-CD set.

For myself, I'm debating about whether or not I want the Cinderella set. I already have the 2005 "special edition" CD release + the Lost Chords from itunes & a rip of "The Music of Walt Disney's Cinderella", but it does look like a great collectible item. How extensive is the booklet included?

btw wasnt there a different version of Can You Feel the Love Tonight sung by Simba and Nala? I remember hearing it in the promo on the old 90's vhs for Aladdin...too bad they didnt include it in the Legacy release.

I went to HMV today and picked up Pocahontas, Aristocats and Cinderella, with the latter two being a 2 for $25 promo! I was able to get all three for about $15 CND each, which was great.

Little Mermaid was also 2 for $25, but I didn't see any other title that was...although I didn't look for all 12.

In terms of what I'd like to see next, here is my wish list for a 12 title wave:

- Alice in Wonderland (3-CD set with as many demo and Lost Chord recordings as possible)
- The Hunchback of Notre Dame
- The Sword and the Stone
- The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- Song of the South
- Bedknobs and Broomsticks
- Pete's Dragon
- The Happiest Millionaire
- The Rescuers (1 CD for each movie)
- Make Mine Music / Melody Time
- The Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World (3-CD set, similar to Disneyland with stuff like The Mickey Mouse Revue, the original Hall of Presidents, If You Had Wings, Magic Carpet 'Round the World and more)

^ I feel bad saying that, while I've seen most of the shorts films, Pete's Dragon, and The Adventures of Ichabod and Toad at least once, I'll admit I'm not familiar enough with them to know their music offhand (except "Candle on the Water," which I enjoy). Not sure if I'd buy those, I'd have to watch the films again before deciding, but I hope they release them for those that want them. <3 *Actually, I think I'm going to try and go through Disney's live-action films sometime.

I actually did a ranking of the Disney soundtracks I don't have by how much I'd like to see them done this morning while I was excited after ordering, but kept it for myself. I know a lot of these probably won't happen even if they do continue the next three years:

~ The Sword in the Stone (it never had a CD release, it's in my top 3 favorites, plus there are supposedly a deleted song or two I've never heard)
~ Bedknobs and Broomsticks (I have 90% of the songs strewn across different compilations--even "ASitRD"--but it'd be nice to have a gorgeous album with everything in one place.)
~ Mulan (finally getting the score to the scene where she leaves home would be great)
~ Hercules (in my top 3 favorites, even if it wouldn't be much of an upgrade from the regular soundtrack; hopefully Hercules flying in the sunset at the end of "Go the Distance" would be the cover. :!: )
~ The Emperor's New Groove (all those deleted songs from Kingdom in the Sun)
~ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (like Bedknobs, I have most of the songs strewn everywhere, but I'd like to have an album with everything + the film has a lot of deleted material)
~ Aladdin (Menken soundtrack + it has a huge amount of deleted material from the earlier version, and I don't own Music Behind the Magic for that one)
~ Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
~ The Princess and the Frog (never bought this or Tangled; if they gave them the Legacy treatment, I'd finally have the right excuse to get them)
~ Tangled, Robin Hood, One Hundred and One Dalmatians
~ Treasure Planet (I'd like to get this since I never have; at the same time, it's no loss if they don't do it.)
~ Atlantis: The Lost Empire (same as TP)
~ Peter Pan, The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound, The Jungle Book, The Black Cauldron (with LC packaging), Lilo & Stitch

I have CDs of Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, The Great Mouse Detective, Oliver & Company, Dumbo, Frozen, and Tarzan already (some are copies though), but I'd probably buy them to match the rest just like with Cinderella.

My absolute most wanted additions to the legacy collection:
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Hercules
Mulan
Tarzan
Tangled

It would be great to see the entire score for all those movies released. Especially the Alan Menken scores for BATB, Aladdin, Hunchback & Hercules. Also, there are so many demos and unused songs available for the movies made in the Disney reneissance that could be included.

Would also like Disney to include these:
Snow White
Bambi
Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan
The Jungle Book
Winnie the Pooh
Robin Hood
Frozen

Most of the score of those movies might already be available on CD/digital (with a few exceptions), but all these are great classics that need to be included to make the legacy collection complete IMO. The artwork for these movies would be awesome and it would be fun to hear demos.

Stupid move of Disney to let anniversaries decide what soundtracks was/are to be included in this collection. If they now are to follow up on the same logic, Tarzan could not be added to this collection untill 2019, Tangled in 2020 and Frozen in 2023 (if a 5th anniversary release in 2018 seems to soon).
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

I'd like to see more live action movies in order to have their complete scores. I have the 2002 CD releases of Pete's Dragon, Bedknobs and Millionaire, but they are just CD re-rleases of their original LPs, with only the songs and a couple of bonus tracks. Having a more comprehensive release with concept art and liner notes would be amazing. Plus, with Mary Poppins they've already set a precedent for including them along side the animated features.

Like you I think they should do as many as possible. I have no interest in buying a CD for The Fox and the Hound, but it's fans deserve a quality release like this.

I also think the anniversary thing is pointless. Just put one out once a month, and that'll get through most everyone's wish list within a 2-year period instead of 3 or 5.

Thinking about it more, an EPCOT Center legacy set would likely be a big hit. Maybe not with most members here, but that fan base would go nuts over a release like that.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if they just dropped the anniversaries part of the line. Especially if they're disappointed with sales, they may start choosing the films they think are more popular or which coincide with DVD/Blu-Ray re-releases/live-action remakes. I wonder if maybe they made it anniversaries to give Bove time to create all the artwork.

So.. There isn't a thread for this so I'm just gonna ask it here.

I just got the Sleeping Beauty LP Vinyl from Hot Topic and I was shocked to find out that the version of "Once Upon A Dream" in the record is not the one in the movie. Really sad since I really like the movie version way more than the one included. In fact, it's completely different people who are singing in this version. I know I've heard it somewhere on Youtube, does anyone know who the singers are?

On a side note, the last 50 seconds of "Battle with the forces of evil" are pure musical bliss. Some of the best use of strings I've heard. You can clearly see that the company worked so incredibly hard to make this movie. I think it paid off. :)

While the anniversarie dates makes the schedule less flexible, at least it gives Disney a legitimate reason to launch them.

The thing is that unfortunately not all the cues from the "SB" soundtrack were included in the Legacy edition. Especially Aurora's first chant in the woods. It's a huge pity.
