How was the Gigantic Panel? Did you see a title logo?RyGuy wrote:I was at the panel. They did not announce the voice actress.
She did not speak in the clips. At least not as an adult.

Re: Moana
Sorry so much to report. No phones/electronics allowed.
They played two songs from Moana. One in a clip, one live.
It reminded me of Lebo's stuff from The Lion King, but with a Polynesian flair.
This film will be great based on what we saw. The clip from Maui was awesome.

I actually like the Disney villains this era has had to offer.Disney's Divinity wrote:jazzflower92 wrote:

I hope Lasseter's meddling won't affect the villain at all. I wonder who they'll cast for her. I hope it's someone really strong, to make up for the other casting choices... (Which I don't believe are being made by M&C.)

The only one I've liked or even care about from this era is Dr. Facilier.jazzflower92 wrote:I actually like the Disney villains this era has had to offer.Disney's Divinity wrote:I'm glad M&C will have another villainess. Hmm.... I like how she's got a thicker body type than most Disney princesses/heroines usually have. The only "thicker" Disney heroines that comes to mind is Nani and GoGo.

Me too, it shows that they are starting to become a bit more comfortable with designing characters like this. Plus the concept art of our new villainess looks amazing!DisneyJedi wrote:Hmm.... MIRANDA...A NOBODY??? You've got to be joking. He's one of the most talented musical theatre composers up and coming today. He won Tonys for his groundbreaking In the Heights and will win a slew more for the masterpiece Hamilton that just opened on Broadway and is the hottest ticket in town.Sotiris wrote:It's sad and infuriating that they'd rather hire nobodies like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mark Mancina over Menken. Shameful.
This is exciting news dammit.

Re: Moana
I know right? Some people expect WAAAAY too much and are disappointed and bitter about Alan not writing the songs for Disney animated films anymore but I think he's already put his strong mark on Disney history. Now it's the Lopez's and Lin Miranda's turn to put their stamp for this generation.DancingCrab wrote:MIRANDA...A NOBODY??? You've got to be joking. My Disney College program friend went to the Moana panel and they did NOT announce Moana's voice actress!

Re: Moana
You guys are two pages late with the outrage.
Besides, it was mostly hyperbole. Nobody is expected to like everyone just because they're assigned to a Disney film. The Lopezes were pretty well-known before they did Frozen--so what? I enjoyed them, but not everybody does. To each their own.

Re: Moana
That was the only thing about the whole D23 panel that did leave me a bit disappointed, if there was any opportunity to announce Moana's voice actress, this was it. But if they are going to build it up later then I can't see the harm of waiting some more.disneyprincess11 wrote:My Disney College program friend went to the Moana panel and they did NOT announce Moana's voice actress!

She looks nothing like Elsa.dollover wrote:She looks great in the sketches. In CG, she looks like brown Elsa with a thicker nose and body. I hope future pics of her reveal that this is not the case.

So true. He's far from a nobody in the world of musical theater. Don't people WANT Disney to cast fresh talent (actors and writers) from Broadway?DancingCrab wrote:MIRANDA...A NOBODY??? No offense to Menken, I love his work, but he can't do everything at this stage of his career and he's obviously made his mark. Miranda is out of the box and a HUGE get. I'm surprised he's doing a Disney film but very intrigued.
