If for example we followed Cobat Carl (I know they wont, just hypothetically speaking) and woody and buzz only had a minor cameo they should really give it a subtitle.
That's what I think they should do; make it about a new set of characters with a cameo by a few from the original 3.

Closer Weekly can exclusively reveal that Don Rickles will be reprising his role as the voice of the classic kids toy Mr. Potato Head in Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 4! “They just signed me to do the fourth Toy Story,” he exclusively reveals to Closer. “We start [work on it] in September, and I’m very delighted with that," the 89-year-old funnyman says.

It's centered around Woody & Bo Peep reuniting

That's good news. We already knew it would center around a love story but I was concerned they'd give Woody a new love interest. They should have never separated them to begin with in Toy Story 3. Considering how Woody wasn't particularly distraught or saddened by Bo Peep's absence, this will be a good opportunity to redeem him.

If that's the film's main plot, its even more unnecessarily than I'd already thought. But I'll wait for more details (later today), this could turn out to be a pleasant surprise.

It is. They could have easily reunited Woody and Bo Peep with a short or a Valentine-themed TV special.

You know what? It's really odd that the Woody/Bo Peep-romance didn't receive more attention in the sequels nor the shorts. Considering how Pixar were trying to avoid some Disney-patterns with their first film in 1995, it's not strange how the romance was barely given attention then. One could assume that Jessie would be an replacement for Bo, but she ended up as being Buzz' love interest, which was a neat touch.

And it's a pity that Bo was excluded from the third film. And although the movie never relied on it, Woody seemed sad over her absence.

Well that plot sounds like utter garbage for a full length film, but I'll try to keep an open mind.

I like the plot, but I'm also a terrible romantic. I mean, it can't be that bad when you consider its the exact same plot as every other Toy Story film. "Toy/s gets lost, other toy/s go out to find him."

I took that news to mean it was maybe a "midquel".

I thought her not being in Toy Story 3 (minus the video montage at the beginning) actually makes sense from a story standpoint:

1) She didn't belong to Andy nor was she a toy. She was his sister's nightstand and like Barbie, she probably outgrew her and put her in a box for her mother to sell.
2) Even if Bo Peep did go with the toys to the daycare, how long would she have lasted in the caterpillar room? Remember that she's supposed to be porcelain.

Although it was somewhat addressed on-screen in TS3, I still disliked the fact that Bo Peep was unceremoniously removed from the storyline in-between movies, so I'm seeing this as a way to rectify that. Hopefully they get Annie Potts back.

I posted this at another message board...just my thoughts on what the story could be.

Is this a true sequel to TS3, or does it take place b/c TS2 and TS3?

Code: Select all

The premise of this story intrigues me b/c I do want find out about what happened w/ Bo Peep. I'm guessing she was moved into Molly's room and then eventually given away or did she perhaps break in an accident...she was porcelain, right? I do wonder if the Bo Peep in this story will be our Bo Peep...just like there were plenty of other Buzz Lightyears in TS2. I would love if the gang ran across a duplicate Bo Peep lamp and this one, obviously, wouldn't have the memories of her time with the gang and now we have Woody trying to court a new Bo Peep while still recalling his past feelings/interactions w/ Bo Peep. It would be kind of a letting go and moving on, and a starting over situation.
I find you pompous, judgemental, and completely self-absorbed.........would you be my friend?

Its already confirmed to not be a prequel, it takes place after toy story 3. Plus, its called toy story 4, not toy story 2 and 1/2.

From IMDB:
Bo Peep was omitted from the film because her surviving the incinerator was deemed highly unlikely as she was made of porcelain.

John Lasseter confirmed that Toy Story 4 is set after the events of Toy Story 3 (if anyone still had doubts) and revealed that the premise of the film is "Woody and Buzz go out to find Bo Beep and bring her back".

Why is this even a movie in the first place? Why ruin a perfect ending for a story that can easily be a 90-minute TV movie?

You know, I had my doubts, but after thinking of Toy Story 2, I'll give this one a shot.

They'd make less money off it for one. But even with that aside, it wont be ruined unless its a sub par toy story movie. If they can manage to match or outdo toy story 3, then we have a near flawless quadtrilogy (tetralogy?).

While I do think Toy Story 3 ended perfectly, there is no rule that movie franchises can only be a trilogy.

I think this will feel like a pointless spinoff film either way, but hopefully it's at least charming and funny enough to be worthwhile.
