Ant-Man
Ant-Man
I'm surprised there wasn't a thread for this (unless I didn't find it). Anyway, according to Box Office Mojo, Disney has set a release date for November 6, 2015.
As a fan of Edgar Wright's previous films, I'm really looking forward to what he does with the material. Considering his other works, I think he will provide a more comedic spin which I guess is the right way to go for such a character.

I don't know what drunk gossip rag you've been reading, but Ant-Man will be live-action and be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Pixar will have zero involvement.
I would love to see Wright direct an animated film one of these days, though.

But one thing's for sure. Pixar didn't confirm that they're working on it.

I keep wondering (as much as others, I suppose), whether the upcoming WDAS "Big Hero 6" movie, will be advertised as a co-production between Disney Animation and Marvel, and whether the Marvel logo will feature at the beginning of the film (I think it should, along with the Steamboat Willie logo - the audience should be aware they are watching an adaptation of Marvel's work).
I feel like Disney should keep their name off the live action Marvel releases, just from a consistency standpoint. It just kind of weakens the Marvel branding. Just how I personally feel.Jules wrote:I keep wondering (as much as others, I suppose), whether the upcoming WDAS "Big Hero 6" movie, will be advertised as a co-production between Disney Animation and Marvel, and whether the Marvel logo will feature at the beginning of the film (I think it should, along with the Steamboat Willie logo - the audience should be aware they are watching an adaptation of Marvel's work).

Anyway I'm sort of excited about Ant-Man. I don't know much about his story or even how he fits into the Avengers. I'll have to do a bit of researching. The director, for me, is questionable.

Sounds nice, i am a Marvel and Wright fan and i think this director can pull off easily with the character.
I'm sure Ant-Man will be in Avengers 3

Anyone else seen this one yet? I thought it was keeping with the spirit of the previous Marvel films, lots of snarky humor inbetween the action scenes.

Yup. Saw it yesterday. Another great Marvel movie. Loved it. Loved the tie-ins to Avengers. My only two grips: Hayley Atwell should've had some spoken lines, and Stan Lee's cameo should've been longer.Disneyphile wrote:Anyone else seen this one yet? We loved it! I ran out afterwards and got the Ant-Man action figure right away!
Re: Marvel's Ant-Man
I'm kind of surprised by how good the reviews for this film are... there were a lot of things I disliked. Above all else, this film was so predictable and lacked it's own identity. It's like every line was either some sort of inspirational quote from Instagram about perseverance or a rehash of something said in another Marvel film. I thought that pacing was really off and I didn't start enjoying the movie until the climax hit.
Also... it was REALLY irritating for me that in an almost exclusively white cast, the three "side kicks" are the most stereotypical characterizations of their skin color possible.

Re: Marvel's Ant-Man
This movie was a lot of fun. I disagree about it not having its own identity because my favorite Marvel movies are the recent ones that played with different action movie genres - Captain America: Winter Soldier had a lot of political thriller elements, Guardians of the Galaxy was a grandiose space opera/comedy, and Ant-Man was essentially a heist film with a lot of comedy as well.
A lot of the scenes in Ant-Man were really memorable and creative too, and I liked that the climax wasn't the typical "save a city from being demolished" scene that drag on and on in so many superhero movies.
