So I just finished reading the prequel novel by Melissa de La Cruz, and I actually quite enjoyed it. If you're a die hard Disney fan I'm not sure this franchise is something for you, but if you're looking for something light and fun involving the Disney characters (in a semi-modern world I might add), I definitely recommend picking the novel up when it's released.
Victoria Smurfit, aka Cruella from OUAT, auditioned for Cruella for this!
I got a phone call from my agent saying that 'Once Upon a Time' have offered me a role, and I thought, 'Wow, that's incredible,' and I said, 'Who is it?' and they said, 'Someone called Sasha.' I'm like, 'Who's Sasha?' Actually, it wasn't Sasha, and so I got on the phone with [executive producers] Adam [Horowitz] and Eddy [Kitsis] and they're chatting, we're having a lovely chat and I said, 'I don't want to be rude, but who am I playing?' and they said, 'Cruella de Vil,' and I nearly fell off my [seat] because I had actually auditioned for Cruella for a Disney [project] and I hadn't got it and I just loved her and to get the opportunity to play her was just crazy.
Does something else in the article link her to this? Because she could've been talking about an audition for the Cruella film that's coming (in the vein of Maleficent).

Somehow I get the feeling she dodged a bullet and landed the better (ongoing) Cruella role. Not only is Victoria Smurfit absolutely killing the role, but she's very prominently featured throughout the second half of this season (YAY!). Once is certainly full of silly camp and bad CGI but Descendants is going to make OUAT look like Breaking Bad in comparison.

I agree. I’m starting to think they might've auditioned women for this Cruella, Cruella in OUAT, and Cruella for the live-action film all at once.
@WillytheDino: That was exactly my reaction when I first saw the picture yesterday morning. The funny thing is--most people were complaining about Kristen Chenoweth early on, but she actually looks the best of the 4. Not that that's saying much.

This looks like utter shit. Pure crap, it's so bad it's not even... It looks like a parody. A bad X-Men cosplay or something. It had been okay if this was yet another cheesy Disney Channel "original" movie, but when they drag classic Disney characters down in the mud like this... It's just sad. And damaging to Disney's fairytale/classic brand I should think. Many of the comments on official Disney Facebook pages (like Disney Villains and Oh My Disney) are stating their dislike of this movie.
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful
I think that son of Cruella is going to be the next Ryan Evans. Just an observation.
It looks far worse than HSM though, I enjoyed that franchise. This looks horrible, especially the costumes and oh my god, that evil queen looks like a drag queen.

LMAO it looks so cheap and horrible. I could see it being funny for all the wrong reasons, but most of the movie will focus on the kids who just seem dull.
