Yes, we see her in the real world, but they don't show what Snow and Charming did to the egg or the egg getting sent to the real world or the scorcerer causing it. It isn't explained how she got there or that she's there because she's evil or that the scorcerer did it or anything. Unless I missed all that because my television did a very werid thing during a commercial and maybe I missed some of the episode?

Also, I still don't understand why Ursula and Cruella got sent to the real world. Sorry if I'm a little slow on the uptake or something. Thanks for kindly trying with me.
??? You might've missed a bit of the episode. I believe the show went to commercial after Snowing left Maleficent's lair with the egg, and I think when they came back from commercial they immediately showed the scene of the egg, Ursula, and Cruella being swallowed by the portal the Sorcerer's apprentice created. I can't remember exact timing as far as the commercials went though.
Well me must agree to disagree on Cora's death being wrong or not but I don't recall Snow actually saying anything close to the words, "Killing Cora didn't darken my heart. What we did to Maleficent is." When Snow said she wasn't sorry for killing Cora, I think that was just because she was under the spell. No one was said to be acting their "true" selves during the spell.
Snow told Charming she didn't believe the dark spot Regina saw in her heart came from killing Cora, but that she believed it was there from what they'd done to Maleficent years before. Of course, it's just a character's feeling; but we could say the same about Regina finding the dark spot in season 2 and assuming it came about because of Snow's role in Cora's death. Who knows, maybe it came from Mary Margaret and David having an affair during the Curse?

As far as the shattered sight curse, they were said to be their darkest selves, but not fake. Snow acted sort of similar to how she did when Rumpel's potion wiped her memory of Charming back in season 1.

Yea I totally did not see that part of the show with the sorcerer and the portal.

I must have missed that bit about Snow thinking the darkness in her heart was from what they did to the egg.

We must agree to disagree on the characters acting like their real, yes darkest, but also real selves under either of those spells. I don't think it was their real selves, but you do. That's ok.

Thanks for helping me, though.

Bumping this to ask...what was Maleficent's plan to evade Regina's curse that Snow White didn't want to do, despite both being pregnant?

I enjoyed tonight's episode even if it was almost all flashback. I guess how you feel will depend on how much you liked Zelena, but I definitely like the fact that she's back. I'm kind of hoping she ends up pregnant, just because that would be so hilariously cruel.

The poster for Aladdin on Broadway in the background... More clues for Jafar; I'm starting to wonder if he might be the father of Maleficent's baby at this point.

That would be an interesting story!

I enjoyed the episode, I wasn’t expecting any of that, everything was very surprising!

Just seen the latest one ….

:o

Oh. My. Gosh ! It was brilliant ! As I didn't go the spoiler route, had no clue ….

The scene between Emma and her parents was completely heartbreaking. Felt like so much has happened, positively, for the Charmings this season (especially the Mum / Dad stuff) and it has now been totally blown out of the water. So sad :(

…and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE Zelena !! SO glad she's back !

And my word … what will Regina do ?

Brilliant episode !

I'm still kind of hoping what I had wanted to happen at the end of 3B (before Rumpel killed her) that Regina would help Zelena to get back on the right roadthe way Emma, Snow and Henry helped her. Plus, Regina could actually have a relativethat she could bond with for once; I can imagine them having a snarky relationship.

I'm not sure if that will happen though. The way she was revealed to be back kind of sets her up as too much of a threat for them to redeem her; although I did laugh at the way both Regina and Rumpel looked ready to wet themselves.

I feel the twist with Zelena was just tacked in there. Like we're supposed to believe she was Marian that whole time from getting taken from the Enchanted Forest to New York, even when she told Regina she would step back and be ok with Robin choosing her?!

Also, what was it that Maleficent was going to do to avoid Regina's curse that Snow objected to? Snow was like, "I won't choose your way" or something.

*spoilers, spoilers everywhere*

Well, it’s funny how things turn out. Cruella was the one I was least looking forward to because she’s a “normal” villain similar to the Stepmother from Cinderella, so I didn’t think they could do anything threatening with her without being incredibly try-hard. She ended up being the best of the three, overall. I had a feeling that if any of the three would die, it would be her, too.

Her backstory, revealing she’s just a plain old psychopath, gave me flashbacks of the Mad Hatter episode from the first season. I loved all the flashback scenes, especially the final one with her making her coat from her mother’s dead dogs. Also, kudos to her controlling Maleficent.

Another great episode, imo. With next week looking to revolve around Zelena and Maleficent’s daughter, I expect another good one. :D

We don't know. Snow White refused to work with someone evil because her way would probably be evil, she didn't care about the details.

Cruella's backstory was GREAT. I'm sad she's gone now though. She was great.

And that episode actually made me like the Author too, as I was kind of not a fan before. But he took a chance on his own story, and Cruella ruined that for him. So then Isaac goes and ruins other people's stories because if he can't have happiness, why should they?

I really felt bad for Cruella's mum too. I was like "PLEASE DON'T SIC THE DOGS ON HER. crap. PLEASE DON'T SKIN HER DOGS. crap."

Yeah, I cringed when I heard it too. It felt cheap and tacky.

I was never fond of that pairing either. Their relationship always felt artificial to me like the creators simply decided to make them a couple to appease fans. The fact there isn't much chemistry between the actors doesn't help either. I don't particularly mind it, even though their relationship seems kind of bland. Even Charming/Snow's relationship is more interesting and relevant than Hook/Emma's nowadays.
Disney Duster wrote:I feel the twist with Zelena was just tacked in there.
Yeah, it was obviously an afterthought. I thought you would be used to the "making it up as we go along" approach of the show by now.

They never revealed that and I highly doubt they'll ever will. Supposedly, it doesn't matter because whatever Maleficent's plan was it would have been an unethical one as she's a villain. Still, she should have at least heard her out first before turning her down. I wouldn't look too much into it. It was just clumsy plot point to drive the story forwards.

I agree. Who would have thought that Cruella would have the most interesting and well-executed storyline of the three? I loved the gothic horror feel of her backstory. I think she's the only villain in the show who's purely evil from childhood for no apparent reason and not someone who was corrupted due to their circumstances like usual. It kinda goes against the show's "evil isn't born, it's made" mantra though.

Ditto. It looked like a pretty exciting episode in the preview.

lol! so many people hate CaptainSwan though. I actually think Emma and August have more chemistry as a sibling relationship than Emma/Hook have.

for a minute I thought they were gonna give Cruella Cinderella's backstory and after having watched Ursula get Ariel's I was like, oh no not this crap again! so it was a nice surprise when they revealed that she was the one knocking off the husbands. Also notice she's the only major Disney villian that has been killed off in the show, though I guess b/c she's a puppy killer they figure it would be ok(cuz how the hell do you redeem a puppy killer, so glad they didnt try!). Then again they did kill Pan but that Pan was a really f'ed up version of Pan!

I also loved how part of the ep turned into Boardwalk Empire, & wow I actually found the author kinda hot in that suit!

I don’t know, I’ve been swinging back and forth on that one (since this theory’s been going several months with fans before it was revealed on the show). They do make things up as they're going (especially post-season 2), but I always thought Zelena was still alive in some way when her vapor caused the time portal even after she supposedly "died," and I’m guessing I wasn’t the only one watching who thought that. There wasn’t any foreshadowing, but how could they foreshadow it without giving it away immediately? If they showed Marian taking Zelena’s pendant or smirking evilly behind people’s backs, we would’ve known right away.

It does explain why Robin couldn’t use True Love’s Kiss on Marian when she was frozen and in a way it also explains why Marian was eerily okay with Robin being in love with her murderer (to thrill in Regina’s prolonged heartbreak because in the end he would be too honorable to leave the mother of his child). And Regina’s misery over the situation was emphasized quite a bit in 4A. Perhaps it could even be part of the reason Ingrid chose "Marian" to freeze. Zelena’s original goals in 3B also align to the whole author plot (re-writing history) which seemed to be the plan for 4B since the premiere, so it feels like a genuine choice to wait until after the first half to reveal Zelena was alive.

I'm surprised so many people dislike Emma/Hook. I'm not enamored by any of the relationships on the show, tbh, but they have more chemistry than Snow/Charming, Regina/Robin, or Rumpel/Belle for me. Actually, the only relationship I would've rooted for on this show was Cora/Rumpel. :P (and a few non-canon ones...) I wonder if August/Emma would've been the plan if the actor hadn't left the show, what with his flaw of lying and her "power" to see through lies. I'm just glad Emma/Neal wasn't endgame, since I didn't like the character or the actor.

Thanks Divinity and Sotiris.

OMG, I cannot believe Emma did what she did! With what she did and what Snow and Charming were afraid of and the look on Emma's face at the end, it seems this show does still hold the idea that killing, even killing murderers, is darkness/evil. And I agree. However, in this case, Emma had to do it to save Henry! Well, you know, she thought she had to. So I wouldn't consider that evil.

So excited to watch the episode tonight, I can't even explain !

Though I do wonder ….

Will Emma be the 'Big Bad' for the few episodes that are left, or will it be the arc for the first part of next season?

Also Duster - I think Emma killing Cruella is the same as Snow killing Cora, no? A bad deed but a necessary one.

I think that was one of the best back stories ever created for a Disney character in Once.

If the upcoming live action film expands on this version of the character, it would be superb !

I agree, this made me wonder more about if that film could be good now. I'm not sure if they're considering her, but I think Victoria Smurfit proved she would be great in a film of the character.

Somebody wonders when will Emma join the Princess line?

Think about it. At this point Snow White should be queen. As such, Emma should be a princess.

...and now that I think about it, I don´t remember anyone mentioning that fact to her in the series...right?

Maybe...I kind of forget what exactly was happening when Snow did that. I don't know if she needed to do it. If you remember, tell me and I might agree.

Did anyone else cringe with the BLUNT product placement in the last episode? That poster for the Aladdin Musical at the bus stop was.... ugh...
If they are gonna do product placement, they could be a tad more subtle..
