Day-long Ultimate Marvel Marathon in theatres

Post by Disneyphile »

ANAHEIM, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As announced today by Chris Hardwick at the Nerdist Panel at WonderCon Anaheim, Nerdist Industries will present The Ultimate Marvel Marathon, at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood brought to you by Cheez-It™ and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats™. This epic event will showcase all 11 movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, culminating with the highly anticipated Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The ticketed event starts at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 20, and ends after the 8:30 p.m. showing on Tuesday, April 21. Chris Hardwick and other Nerdist talent will host the event with help from special guests expected to appear throughout the 29-hour engagement.

“This Ultimate Marvel Marathon will be an experience that Marvel super fans will remember for the rest of their lives, just as we did with ‘Back to the Future.’ And getting to see Ultron first? What true Nerd doesn’t love to see a movie before anyone else? Marvel fans, ASSEMBLE!”

Attendees who see all 11 films will receive an exclusive commemorative poster and will be entered in a drawing for two tickets to Marvel’s “Ant-Man” world premiere. All guests will receive a commemorative event credential and will be treated to meals, Cheez-It™ crackers and Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Treats™, plus other snacks, including popcorn served in a souvenir 130 oz. metal popcorn tub. There will be an out-of-this-world costume contest, plus fun raffles and giveaways between films.

“In 1990, Kevin Feige and I were both at an all-day ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy screening where they showed films one and two and then premiered part three for fans die hard enough to wait in line for MANY HOURS, which we were. After exchanging e-mails with Kevin, we agreed that it was time to do this with the Marvel films,” said Chris Hardwick.

Honestly, how could you even enjoy Age of Ultron after sitting through this entire thing? Seems crazy to me.

It seems some places are doing a triple feature, with The Avengers, The Winter Soldier, followed by Age of Ultron. That would be much more stomach-able, but still a bit long for my taste.

I would actually be interested in a Phase 2 plan. I've been wanting to rewatch the films from Phase 2 before Age of Ultron, aside from Iron Man 3, as I've actually seen that more and once and it's already my least favorite to begin with. But I've seen all of Phase 1 enough to where I don't feel the need to do this for them, nor can I justify a $70 purchase to sit through a bunch of movies when I only really want to see about 4 of them.

Blah. Good luck and have fun to whoever does go, though!
