I hope Emma remains with her own accent; it will enable her to be more comfortable in the role I think. Plus, Paige was picked for her more 'European' sounding voice as they were going to get Jodi Benson to fulfil the role.

The fact that the production is based in the UK makes me think they're going with British-accented French characters.

And the actual release date is a week off from my original prediction (I predicted March 10, 2017), but there wasn't any question this was going to be a March 2017 release.

I saw this listed on the front news when I came online. It seems like this movie is getting a lot of attention so early in the game; I remember even my local news talked about it when Emma Watson was cast. I'm guessing this film will do really well considering Cinderella's numbers.

The 1991 film is still highly regarded and this being from the actual studio (rather than a rival), families tend to trust Disney's brand more in terms of fairy tale and live-action remakes.

And Kevin Kline as Maurice. Interesting choice.

As much as I like Emma Thompson, I'm not sure how I feel about her as Mrs. Potts. I saw the filmed performance of her as Mrs. Lovett in the Sweeney Todd production from Live at Lincoln Center (Angela Lansbury obviously starred as the original Mrs. Lovett), and she really wasn't too much of a singer. I understand that this is a different horse altogether, but from my experience with Thompson, I'm a little iffy on what she can bring to the table.

I was hoping that with Cinderella being released in 2D, that Disney would release the live-action BATB the same way.

Kevin Kline voiced Phoebus in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'; Emma Thompson voiced Amelia in 'Treasure Planet' and Elinor in 'Brave'; and Josh Gad voiced Olaf in 'The Snow Queen' (I'm still calling it that).

Oh wow. Well, they were good in those films (except I don't know about Treasure Planet as I haven't seen it yet).

Really good casting and I sure hope it's a very good adaptation of the musical version which I really liked due to fleshing out Belle and the Beast's relationship when I thought the animated film did a really good job at doing.

Wow...! They're going all-out. Already looking as if it'll easily trump all their other live-action re-make or revisionist films made so far (and the ones in the pipeline we know are coming, too).

Yeah, I'm REALLY impressed how much they're trying to get the perfect cast. Really wished they hire a new fresh face for Belle for the talent, but I'm sure that Emma will pull it off.

I don't mind Emma Watson as Belle. I've always liked her and she's quite beautiful. My only concern with her is that she looks too young. Animated Belle is supposed to be seventeen, yet she looks older. Watson is turning twenty-five, but still looks at least ten years younger.

Me too. :D

Do you guys think that the opening will be different? I remember reading an article somewhere that Linda Woolverton wrote an entirely different opening sequence for Beauty and the Beast when it was originally planned as a storybook opening where we see the Beast's origin of how he got cursed. But I can see why it was trimmed down and turned into the opening that we know today: Budget reasons. The directors felt that Woolverton's 4-5 minute or so opening would cost a lot of animation money and I don't know who came up with the stained glass window idea, but it works for what little time and money the crew had.

I'm very excited to see what they'll do to the opening. Especially with the Disney Castle in the opening. I wonder if they'll make it the castle the Beast's castle and have it zoomed in to reveal the stained glass windows?

BTW: Phill Lewis/Mr. Moseby would be PERFECT for Cogsworth! I'd LOVE to see that!
