I'm glad Emma Thompson is going to be in this. I like her.

None have been officially casted as Mrs Potts yet.DisneyFan09 wrote:I'm glad Emma Thompson is going to be in this. I like her.
Earlier in the thread "Home" was mentioned as a hard song to sing, but I would like to add "A Change In Me" as an even harder Belle song to perform.

Actually "A Change in Me" is a song that even I can sing, and I'm a 26 year old man. But I do actually sing, don't know if Emma would be considered a singer. But I don't think it will be a problem for Emma Watson.
As for Mrs. Potts, I forgot Chip called her "Mama." She definitely needs to be way younger than Angela Lansbury. Emma Thompson would be good in that aspect.

I have a few thoughts I'd like to share with you. Emma Watson is a really great choice for Belle, she's really beautiful, and I think she'll do great with the singing. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, as I'm sure she won't disapoint. For the Beast, I was thinking about Eddie Redmayne
or maybe James Marsden (I think he's a great singer).
I'm curious if the film's producers will have the actors singing the vocals live, on set, like they did in Les Misérables. It would be kinda cool, because it really works like that.

If it's not baroque, don't fix it.

I think 'Home' will be the hardest out of the songs personally; such a huge moment, and Susan Egan does it so beautifully. I'd be nervous to perform it. Though on the other hand, the more iconic songs could cause more anxiety as they are more known for her to sing. Either way, Paige and Susan are tough acts to follow !!

"Emma, Paige and Me" - Susan Egan talks about her own "Beauty and the Beast" experience, Paige O'Hara and Emma Watson:

It's really interesting to read about how the animated Disney musicals of the 80s and 90s (or Alan Menken, that is;) revived public interest in musicals in general, both on Broadway and in the movies.

How very interesting ! I wonder if Paige really didn't like how she was playing it … I can see for sure it would hurt as its her role, but I hope she didn't feel it as I thought Susan was perfection ! And also very awkward too playing opposite Paige's husband as well …
Actually thinking about it, I remember Susan saying that when she was recording Hercules, Alan came to see the show (which she was doing at the same time) and told her that there was too much of Meg slipping into the part, and she had to think again about Belle as a character.

Is this remake really going to be an adaptation of the Broadway show?If so, where has it been said?
Re: Disney to Remake Beauty & the Beast in Live-Action
I recall both Alan Menken and Bill Condom remarking in interviews, that it was going to be based directly on the Broadway show. So, by the simplest definition, no, this Beauty and the Beast movie is not going to be a remake.DisneyJedi wrote:Is this remake really going to be an adaptation of the Broadway show?If so, where has it been said?

There are rumors that now Eddie Redmayne is being pursued for the Beast.

Eddie Redmayne as the Beast? No, no, no! He is a great actor, but he is not "manly"/big enough to be the Beast or handsome/beautiful enough to be prince Adam.

Agreed. He's not hideous, but he's not drop dead gorgeous either. He's cute enough, but in a own way.Prince Edward wrote:Eddie Redmayne as the Beast? No, no, no! He is a great actor, but he is not "manly"/big enough to be the Beast or handsome/beautiful enough to be prince Adam.

I'm not sure if I see him as Gaston yet and I don't know if he can sing, but I think Luke Evans is a very good actor so I'm happy with this news!

I don't really have an opinion of Luke as I've only seen him in 'Clash of the Titans' and 'Tamara Drewe'.

Re: Disney to Remake Beauty & the Beast in Live-Action
I think Dan Stevens will do a decent job, although not sure his voice can growl/shout like the Beast needs. I don't really know the other actor--apparently he's been in a few movies I've seen, but left no impression.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

I wonder if they're going to hire Rick Baker...
