HP: Goblet of Fire Final Cast Announced
Does anybody know if they are planning to have the same Harry, Ron, and Hermione for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? Emma Watson said she would have to think about it for a while, because she doesn't like all the publicity or something. And I don't know if the directors will still want Dan or Rupert.

Will they even be the same for OotP? I thought the original contract was just for the 4 existing books at the time. I'm hoping they decide not to turn down all that money and stick around for all 7.

They better stick around for all 7, especially after being in half the series already. I'm fairly certain that WB won't replace them because the whole age thing rumor is crap, in my opinion. At the rate these movies are being made, the oldest the kids will be is 21 playing 17, which isn't bad at all when you've got movies like Grease where people in their mid 30's are playing 18 year olds. So, really, it all lies with whether or not the kids want to do more. I remember Daniel Radcliffe saying he was eager to do all 7, but Emma Watson and Rupert Grint both said they weren't sure and that they were going to take it one movie at a time.

I honestly don't see their careers as child actors going much further than the Harry Potter films, so they should stick with a paying gig while they've got it. Once they are older and HP is done, they'll have a bigger chance at breaking out in Hollywood. And 3 more movies won't stereotype them anymore than the first 4 did.

Actually, as I recall, the kids were only signed up for the first three films, and once CoS was finished, everyone was wondering if they were going to stay on. As it turns out, Dan decided he wanted to do the fourth, and so Rupert and Emma followed his lead. They are only signed for the fourth; although OoP is currently in pre-production.awallaceunc wrote:Will they even be the same for OotP? I think Dan will stay for the rest of the films, and Rupert and Emma will do what he does; continue as well. It seems very unlikely that they would be replaced, it just wouldn't be the same. It could very well destroy the whole series; look at Batman! If the teens have their doubts, I'm sure Chris Columbus would talk some sense into them about it. I also read an interview recently with Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) who said he didn't want to play Hagrid forever, but wished he could wrap it up soon; adding he knew that WB would also push him to accept ridiculous amounts of $$. So, I think, if Dan goes with it, so will Rupert and Emma, and all the other supporting cast; but only if the kids do it. I mean, it's not like Maggie Smith would choose to do another Clash of the Titans over HP 5!
I was thinking that too. But, take a look at what Lucas did with Palpatine: he made a young actor look hideously old and an old actor somewhat young. Makeup can work wonders, as I'm also sure Madame Maxime will be puffed out to a large degree to match Hagrid.Disneykid wrote:Barty Crouch Jr. seems a little old...I always imagined him to be in his mid-20s. Yup - the way I see it, the trio will just "end up" doing all 7 films. After all, one production flows right into the other, the money carrot is always dangling, and the threat of die-hard fans having their heads if they did quit is always looming.
But seriously, I do think they're going to finish the series - it seems more likely than not that they'll just keep doing them. I do feel bad for what's gonna happen to them after the films are done and lights have faded, though...

Your right! As I recall, the pause in production between CoS and PoA was because Dan and Emma wanted to return to school for a few months and live a more normal life. Rupert wasn't at all in that group, though I'm sure he gladly took the vacation as well.PatrickvD wrote:A while back I read an interview with Rupert in wich he said he wanted to do all of the remaining movies. I'm not quite sure who all these people are that they cast except for Rita Skeeter and Voldemort (wasn't he in Maid in Manhattan?). That's good though b/c it's nice to see a fresh/unknown/not-seen-too-often face.
I think another reason that Emma Watson might not want to do it is that she'll always be known as Hermione and may always end up being typecast as the witty know it all in other movies.

Yeah, but I think all three of the main kids are irrevocably type-cast at this point anyways. After 3 blockbusters in the same role, 4 more won't make it any worse. They might as well milk their ride with HP for the full-ride, and rack up all that cash, and then by the time the series is over, they will be old enough to stand a chance at redefining themselves and using ther money, exposure, and contacts to break out in Hollywood outside of HP.

But seriously, (I don't have much of a sense of humour, as you can see) I think Emma's the best actress of the teens and is sure to become a wonderful adult actress.
Funny story: My friend Joe said PIrates of the Carribean would fail because everyone would recognize Orlando as being Legolas, but later ate his words and said he never said that once POTC succeded!
I think that may have been because Bloom wasn't the main character. He was kind of shunted sideways and poked fun at, in the light of Depp's outrageous, spotlit Sparrow character. And since Depp was the most memorable in that film, look what happened to him. Even though Depp's done a ton of other roles previously, I bet a lot of new fans (and several long-timers, even) can't help but see him as a crazy old pirate.yoda_four wrote:Funny story: My friend Joe said PIrates of the Carribean would fail because everyone would recognize Orlando as being Legolas, but later ate his words and said he never said that once POTC succeded!
