May I ask, does the score incorporate anything of the classic songs ? Or does it not involve them a la Maleficent save for the credits ?

Yes! And more than one classic song!!! (But they are all at the end credits)

Here's the tracklist:

Thanks Flanger-Hanger that was great! I loved Lady Tremaine's blue and purple dress! That's what she should be wearing instead of those green and yellow and leopard print dresses! But sometimes the bluer greens she wears look great with her hair, and of course represent her jealousy of Cinderella. I love how the Fairy Godmother handed Cinderella her wand! And she asked for a knife! Could this mean she will scoop out the pumpkin until just the rind is left like in the original fairy tale?! And I love Cinderella's blue dress the more and more I see it...

New clip of the family giving Ella her new name.

Wow, that's cruel. Great acting!

Wow, I think Cate will run away with this film ! She's superb !!

I wish people in Disney films like this got nominated and heck, win awards for these performances, instead of being looked over in favour of 'worthy' films and 'worthy' performances.

I'm so so so sick of Disney's promotional and release team/section here in the Benelux. Apparently Cinderella will only play in Dutch in my hometown theater, as in many cities here in The Netherlands. The company is again ignoring one of it's (bigger) movies; after Into the woods got zero promotion and only played for 10 days in the theater here. Even bluray releases are treated like garbage. Disney doesn't even deserve a box office hit.

Besides Julie Andrews, has any actor or actress won an Oscar for a performance in a Disney film, or even been nominated?

I don't think so. I believe someone mentioned that when 'Saving Mr. Banks' was released and Emma Thompson was considered one of the five frontrunners.

Hayley Mills won a Juvenille Oscar for her role in Pollyanna. Meryl Streep was just nominated for Into the Woods. That's all I can name off the top of my head, but there may be more. I know several have received Golden Globe nominations thanks to the splitting of Comedy and Drama films.

I got my V.I.P. ticket today for Cinderella (!) since Cineplex is selling them 3 weeks out as of today. Can't wait to see the Thursday night screening in a nicer looking theatre. :D

Wow, this looks soooo good! Cate Blanchett was out of this world! Lily James was wonderful, too. Yes, not as amazing as Cate Blanchett, but still great! It really does look like Cate may nab an Oscar nomination or win! The dialogue was also great! My hopes are still for a Best Picture nomination and win!

Beyond Julie and Meryl, Richard Farnsworth was nominated as Best Actor for 1999's The Straight Story, and Johnny Depp was nominated in the same category for 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

And if we took into consideration their Touchstone, Miramax, and Hollywood Pictures divisions, they've had 18 wins from 65 nominations. Granted, the majority are from Miramax films made when they were still associated with Disney, so one could say those don't "count" anymore since Miramax and Disney split some years ago. Likewise, Touchstone was pretty much "Disney with another name" in the 80s/90s, but today serves as a distributing arm for DreamWorks, so those may not count either.

Best Actor:
Paul Newman for 1986's The Color of Money (Win)
Robin Williams for 1987's Good Morning, Vietnam
Daniel Day-Lewis for 1989's My Left Foot (Win)

Cate will likely be nominated for 'Carol' (I can't wait to see that film too) this year.

That would be wonderful, but I think you're reaching for the stars, Disney Duster... I just want 'Cinderella' to be a critical and financial success!

That sucks for you! I hate dubbed Dutch movies. Maybe you could go to a Pathé theater in the neighbourhood as they do have it scheduled in English with subtitles. Or cross the border with Belgium since we always have the English versions (I don't even think we have Dutch versions, did you have a Dutch version of Into The Woods?)

My gosh, Cate nailed it! And DD, I'm sorry, but there's 0% chance of this, getting nominated for Best Picture. The only remake that I think has a chance is Beauty and the Beast.

Yeah we only have an Euroscoop(Belgian company) here, which has only listed the dutch version…Even some other theaters nearby have listed only the Dutch version (as if grown-ups don't want to see this movie) -.- As a huge Cinderella fan I'm totally stressing…I was planning to see this movie a couple of times…I'm planning sending an email to the theater here in town..

I believe into the woods didn't get a dutch version at all. But that movie was less child-proof and completely ignored by Disney Benelux.

I'm not going to lie...

But I'm really stressing myself about this movie. Mainly because of how Maleficent got some pretty scathing feedback because of the obvious reasons. And I'm scared Cinderella will end up falling in that same trap. :(

My heart has wings, hmmm, and I can fly. I'll touch every star in the sky!

Lol, no, you're right, what's most important is critical and financial success, like almost all the great classic Disney films got. I have hope for this film reaching Best Picture recognition, but my hope is not thaaat high I guess...

Why? What's so great about that movie over this one? :(

Perhaps it isn't if it ends up being a big, fat critical and financial success... Who knows? Let's just wait another month.

At this point? Nothing. It hasn't even started filming.
