That's also possible, but I have a feeling this will be the ending of the movie. The big villain (Maleficent?) is defeated, everybody has made it's choice and Mal en Ben can finally be together.

Oh okay so that's why they would specifically choose Belle and the Beast's son as a central character.

You know, because he's taking over his mother's role and falling in love with someone who at first seems evil and...well, beastly.

Now I'm really curious to see how this unfolds, because I like this idea.

Strangely, MalxBen can work. It looks like that they do have a strong chemistry and Mal does look happy in that picture But, I'm not totally a fan of it because one of the Disney Princess's kids marry a villain's kid? It seems out of place and weird. Like a bad fan fiction. But, like I said, the characters do look like that they have strong chemistry. We'll see what happens.

This makes me wonder: does Gaston have a kid in this world? And what would happen if he had a daughter -I dunno, Garcia- who had a crush on Ben? Or maybe some other daughter of a "good guy", like Melody, liked Ben? It'd be really weird...

Are they really counting on the movie becoming a hit that a prequel will be wanted?

Why not, I dunno, make the prequel first and then have them have kids?

By God, I think that's a much more interesting premise, how baddies got incarcerated onto an island like it's Rikers Island. (Asuming it's about the baddies getting caught.)

The prequel novel:

Twenty years ago, all the evil villains were banished from the kingdom of Auradon and made to live in virtual imprisonment on the Isle of the Lost. The island is surrounded by a magical force field that keeps the villains and their descendants safely locked up and away from the mainland. Life on the island is dark and dreary. It is a dirty, decrepit place that’s been left to rot and forgotten by the world.

Mal learns from her mother that the key to true darkness, a dragon’s eye, is located in the forbidden fortress on the far side of the island. The eye is cursed, and whoever retrieves it will be knocked into a deep sleep for a thousand years. But Mal has a plan to capture it. She’ll just need a little help from her ‘friends.’ In their quest for the dragon’s eye, these kids begin to realize that just because you come from an evil family tree, being good ain’t so bad.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

Maleficent, Mistress of the Dark: Ruler of the Isle. Her subjects don’t know how to do anything without their powers, so they fix clothes with safety pins instead of needle and thread, they don’t know how to use brooms to sweep if they can’t fly them, and their crystal balls are only good as goldfish bowls these days.

Mal: Sixteen year-old Mal is the most popular and talented student at Dragon Hall, her mother is the great Maleficent, Mistress of Darkness, the most powerful and wicked fairy in the world, and there is nothing more Mal desires in the world than to be just like her mother.

Evie: Daughter of the Evil Queen. She has been has been castle-schooled for years and this is her first year at Dragon Hall. Evie’s lush dark hair falls from her forehead in a striking widows-peak, and she never leaves home without her crown.

Jay: Son of Jafar. Handsome, puckish, sexy and mischievous with long dark hair in a bandanna and a great tan. Jay is a thief, a con man, a handsome, quick-witted boy with charm to spare, whose lies are as beautiful and silvery as his eyes.

Carlos: Son of Cruella. Jumpy, anxious littlekid, but with the true skills of a tech prodigy. He’s been working feverishly on a project that would connect the Isle of the Lost to the outside world. Deathly afraid of dogs.

I found pictures on Twitter and Tumblr of the Hasbro dolls they're going to release for this movie, which also gives us a look at some new characters.

The new characters are Audrey (daughter of Aurora and Philip), Jane (daughter of the Fairy Godmother) and Lonnie (daughter of Mulan and Shang). I am not 100% sure which one is Audrey and which one is Jane, but from the way they are dressed (the first one in a blue/pink dress and the second one in purple) my guess is the first one is Audrey and the second one is Jane.

The other two dolls are obviously Mal (daughter of Maleficent) and Evie (daughter of Evil Queen Grimhilde).

From the way Audrey, Jane and Lonnie are set up I get a feeling they're going to be the 'mean girls'. I'm not sure if that's true, but there would be a good reason for the three girls to be mean to Mal and Evie, especially Audrey, whose mother was cursed by Mal's mother. And the Fairy Godmother's daughter being their leader could be fun.

However, although I usually don't detest the Disney Channel shows as the majority does, I still would've liked if this movie wasn't a Disney Channel product. But I'm still going to give it a shot.

What the heck happened to Maleficent?

Didn´t the actress learned from the movie and Angelina and Once Upon a Time that the character is anything but out loud? She´s playing at as if she was Cruella.
