I don't think it was fair to compare Pocahontas to TLK either, but that's the way of the world.

According to the actuals, it already passed the $200 million mark. It actually made $5.1 million over the weekend.

I went to see the film finally, and did like it very much. Not the best of the Revival era, but a worthy addition to the Disney canon, and my opinion may change when seeing it again on the big screen. I did think it was not really suspenseful, especially for this...

The casting of James Cromwell, was a dead giveaway for me, on who was the main villain, since I've seen him play the villain in other movies. Though in this case, he was not the greedy villain this time around, and doesn't even die in the end.

Not sure if I want a sequel, but a TV series would work better, continuing the story and allowing for more focus on the other characters.

And by the way, BH6 has just surpassed Tangled in the domestic box office, second highest of the revival era, trailing only guess-who? ;)

Was anyone able to catch any of the Disney Easter eggs? How people are able to do this, while watching on the big screen, I will never know. I even missed what should been the easiest one of all, which was the statue of Hans.

I spotted three off memory other than the two Hans ones:

There's a picture of young Hiro wearing a Stitch hood on the wall of family photos when Hiro is talking to Cass at home.

Fred has a stitch pillow in his toy room.

There is a fat man wearing a Hawaiian t-shirt at the SFT convention which I suppose is Lasetter.

Pocahontas is mainly looked at as a dip in quality looking back through today's eyes, and rightfully so. Other than the music and some pretty animation, it's bland bland bland, and borderline offensive at times.

Big Hero 6 maintained Disney's streak of above average quality. Fans may argue over their favorites, but they're fairly equal and all quite good. At the very least, none are as terrible as the films Disney was putting out in the early-mid 2000s. The Metacritic scores of the last 6 Disney films are very similar:

Not surprised that Tangled is the weakest, but it's not by a lot.

finally saw this today, in a mostly empty theatre. a few family groups, one solo guy, and a mother with kid who was literally climbing the walls and talking at the top of his lungs.

anyway, i didnt mind it. several bits irked me somewhat, one being how much hiro had to shoulder while also being so young. the end of the big final scene bugged me, too. felt like redemption for the bad guy, while hiro lost everything. even though he rebuilt baymax, it just wasnt the same.
i loved go go with her gum and "do it myself" attitude. cass was a great character who had a lot of personality for someone who wasnt a main. wouldnt mind seeing a series of shorts showing more of the backgrounds of the other 5.
really liked the lab, with all the inventions going on that you barely get time to see. half expected to see lewis from meet the robinsons in there somewhere.

easter eggs, i missed everything, but given the size of the screen i actually found it hard to see the movie clearly. will be easier on a tv i think. i overheard a tween/teen girl on the way out say she was dizzy, and i cant entirely blame her... wasnt in 3d either.

i may go and see it again, but its not a "ive gotta see it again! tomorrow! this afternoon! when does the dvd come out?" like i had with brave or frozen.

Let's hope those "never before seen extras" are actually worth it, although I highly doubt it.

Somehow, I still missed the Stitch ones when watching the film a second time. But I was able to see Bolt and the animal control officer.

I think a pause button is needed to spot the easter eggs, since some of them are so tiny. :)

And I was expecting some reference to Lewis as well, as I thought of him when Hiro was giving the presentation, expecting it to be a disaster.

And unsurprisingly enough, the bonus features aren't much to brag about:

walter, agree there 100%. even on a massive screen, they are near impossible to see. nice to know im not the only one who thought of lewis. would have been a sweet reminder of one of their more lesser known titles.

Speaking of lesser titles, I was really surprised to read that Chicken Little had a cameo in the film.

And I have to amend what I said earlier about the Hans statue, in that it would have been hard to spot, as it was shown only for 1 split second before getting destroyed by Baymax.

Well, I'm sure it's disappointing that Big Hero 6 didn't end up winning the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature, but if I must be honest I think it was always going to be a tight race. When I think of such strong movies as Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and The Lego Movie, I felt as if any one of those movies would've walked away with the award.

I just believe 2014 was a solid year for animation, and I believe it's only going to make things more interesting when it comes to the Oscars.
