I'm glad we'll get another good singer, at least. The one thing I like about M&C is that they won't cast someone unless they fit. So sorry, Selena and The Rock, you would have to actually earn your place.
Now, if management decides to pressure them with voice actors like they did with the medium, it might as well not be a M&C film at all.

For the Rock, I think they could have him as the speaking voice while they find someone who could do the singing voice. For Moana on the other hand I think they would try to find someone who could do both.Disney's Divinity wrote:I'm glad we'll get another good singer, at least. I think the Rock was chosen because he is part Samoan on his mother's side. But at least we have someone who is of Samoan descent playing one of the most prominent characters in Polynesian mythology.

He better actually fit the role, otherwise I'm going to revert to blaming Disney executives.

Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
I have a feeling they will make Moana apart of the Disney Princess line. I think this will quell the social justice warriors that Disney has been adding nothing but Caucasian princesses recently.

Actually, he has sung a few times on WWE shows, and his voice is decent enough. He's no Josh Groban, but he could pull off a small singing role.DisneyJedi wrote:All I can do is hope that he CAN sing.disneyprincess11 wrote:It's official!![]()

Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
I've been a fan of his since he began his career in the WWE so I think this is great casting. He's part of a Samoan wrestling dynasty and has always been proud of his heritage so being a part of a film like this will mean a lot to him. He can sing too so he seems a perfect fit for this film.

serioulsy though, this movie needs a shark god/were-shark sidekick:
In Hawaiian mythology, there were several main shark gods. It was commonly believed that, when a person died, their family could offer the corpse to become a shark. The dead body was then believed to make a slow transformation into a shark, and the kahuna (a priest, sorcerer or magician) would then tell the family that specific markings on a shark’s body corresponded to the clothing worn by the deceased. The family would put great trust in this particular shark to steer fish into their nets as well as to deter danger and even to harm and kill their personal enemies. This was known as the family’s “aumakua”, and it was called by the name of the deceased....
Kamohoali'i – This is the most respected of the shark gods and was known for his ability to take on both human and fish forms....
Keali'ikau 'o Ka'u – This shark god was believed to be the cousin of Kamohoali'i and Pele and protected the Ka’u people. Keali'ikau 'o Ka'u fell in love with a human woman, who fell pregnant by him and birthed a green shark, known for helping people.

how cool would a character inspired by that be...

No. She didn't. Unless Penny was supposed to sound like a chain-smoking child hooker.DisneyEra wrote:They said the same thing when this happened, but she actually did a good job.

I do think The Rock is okay as eye-candy, but very skeptical about him as a voice actor right now. Hopefully his won't be a large singing role like what happened with Mandy Moore. Some of my interest is gone, but let's wait for who they cast as the protagonist before I jump ship.

I'll admit I'd be upset if Moana's voice goes to another celebrity. I hope it's an unknown up and coming actress/singer.Disney's Divinity wrote:No. She didn't.
