More original films is always a good thing. I'm curious if we ever learn about what they abandoned and what was changed.
Time will tell.

http://variety.com/2015/film/news/canne ... 201501427/The Good Dinosaur (Pixar)
The early clips from this movie played like a cross between “Tarzan” and “Lilo & Stitch.” The story centers on Arlo (Lucas Neff), an Apatosaurus, who after losing his father in a tragic accident, falls into a river, gets knocked out by a rock and finds himself in a land far away. As he makes the trek back home to the Clawed-Tooth Mountains, he befriends a human cave-boy named Spot.
“This is a boy and a dog story, but the roles are reversed,” Lasseter said. “Arlo, the dinosaur, is the boy in the story and Spot is the dog” — meaning Arlo stands upright and speaks, while Spot travels on his hands and feet and grunts.
There will be a supporting cast of dinosaurs straight out of “Jurassic Park” (only friendlier). “We’re putting our own unique Pixar spin on the dinosaur world,” Lasseter said, as he showed images of a trio of T-Rexes, a Pterodactyl and a shaggy Velociraptor. “The feathers on the Veliraptor look like the haircuts of famous football players,” Lasseter joked.
Lasseter talked up the visuals that serve as the backdrop of the story. In one clip he showed, Arlo and Spot chase fireflies in a forest, which looks more real than any scene from a Pixar production. “It’s unlike anything we’ve had before,” Lasseter said. “The level of believability we’re striving for in this film is going to be breathtaking.”

And a final note; Yes, I know I'm repeating myself, but this article still slams "Cars 2". I'm so tired of it!

"Possibly W/ Inside Out"? Really? Like there's any question about that.

Well, the teaser trailer was pretty underwhelming but I guess that's to be expected. I felt completely indifferent towards it.
Also, am I the only one who noticed the similarities between the teaser poster of The Good Dinosaur and the one of Brother Bear?

It shows us the concept and nothing else really...
I think PIXAR's 2015 problem will mirror Disney's 2002 problem. Lil & Stitch, like Inside Out will be acclaimed for its originality while The Good Dinosaur could be the overcooked Treasure Planet of the fall. High

Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
whu? why do the dinosaurs look so cartoony but the backgrounds look photorealistic? it just looks really wrong. Everything about this movie Ive seen so far has really underwhelmed me(or just plain confused me) and Im a huge dinosaur fan...I dunno.
Come to think of it, Jurassic World's dinos have me kinda underwhelmed too. Seriously why did they stick to the 1990's drab outdated look for the dinosaurs? meh...

Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
Yeah. Same here. I was pretty underwhelmed with this trailer.
When it started, it REALLY got me hooked. And I was so intrigued by it. Until they showed us the characters.
I think the background animation is pretty stunning, but it's not surprising for Pixar.
The character design..... it's just so atrocious! It's like a little kids TV show aimed at babies, that's how bad the designs are.
The lack of detail on the dinos is also another really mind-boggling decision.
You know, in Jurassic World, they explained why these dinos look different (they are mutations, not real dinosaurs) and the dinos are so incredibly detailed and well realized. The dinos in this movie just look bad.
Really disappointed by Pixar. And I see that they might be going the WDAS route... Advertise your movie 1 month before it comes.

Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
It could be, but Pixar always had more fortune at the box office with their films. So I'll doubt this movie will be ignored. I think it's a pity that "Lilo & Stitch" became the hit, while "Treasure Planet" tanked. I consider the latter to be superior.PatrickvD wrote:I think PIXAR's 2015 problem will mirror Disney's 2002 problem. Remarkable how the dinosaurs at the beginning of the teaser looked naturalistic, while the others looked cartoony. But Pixar has always been lackluster with their character designs. It's a pity they couldn't expand their designs now.taei wrote:When it started, it REALLY got me hooked. And I was so intrigued by it. Until they showed us the characters.

Say what you want about "Dinosaur", but at least that one had interesting designs.

I imagined myself as a Disney executive watching this trailer

Re: The Good Dinosaur--11/25/15
I am reserving judgement. I HATED absolutely everything they used to market Frozen, and I ended up loving the movie.
I am still of the mind that if The Good Dinosaur really was the weaker offering of the year they would have found a way to release it in the summer where it could be lost in the sea of high profile films and not be judged against the stronger Inside Out. The Good Dinosaur is coming during Oscar season for a reason. If it was terrible they could hold it till February or March where it wuld make big bucks regardless of reviews. I am prepared to eat my words, but everything seems to be pointing in the direction that whatever problems the film faced earlier in its production have been fixed and the finished product is excellent.
That said, the trailer was underwhelming.
