I went to the D23 Fanniversary at Disney's BoardWalk today, and I got to hear a couple of tracks from these releases.

One of the tracks they played for us is the demo of "Poor Unfortunate Souls", with Howard Ashman singing. As a sample of what was to come during recording time, it's pretty good. You can even hear a bit of Pat Carroll's future voice of Ursula in Ashman's performance, which is awesome!

They also played a bit of the henchmen's song from Sleeping Beauty, "Evil Evil". The music itself is to die for, fitting in wonderfully with the film's soundtrack. The lyrics, however, not so much. I could see why Walt felt the need to drop it from the movie.

There was also footage of Richard Sherman attempting a performance of the deleted "Chimpanzoo" song from Mary Poppins, which I found to be cute! Apparently this is in the release, so it also has a DVD to it?

Since the event was sponsored by The Legacy Collection, their representation for The Lion King was... "He Lives in You". Great song, but that isn't new. :P

I also got cut-out cards of the Lion King and Mary Poppins releases, which remind me that I need to play catch-up on them.

The Little Mermaid cover isn't sad, you can see the magic of Triton's trident in the water, going to make Ariel human forever.

Please tell me Maleficent sings a line in the "Evil Evil" song. I know she did from a D23 presentation of it back in 2009.

Not a big fan of the cover.
I understand that Sorcerer is what made Disney make Fantasia, I just would have liked seeing a more diverse cover.
Here's what I think the cover should look like:
The cover should have a slot where small lithographs can be inserted. Each lithograph would depict two or three of the segments and these lithographs could be exchangeable.

I wasn't planning on buying this soundtrack, but it looks like a really good deal, with 4 discs and different recordings. Listening to classical music is never a bad idea. ;)

That's a cute Mickey cover for Fantasia.

I listened to the Sleeping Beauty bonus songs on the legacy collection release for the first time today, and the additional songs with Mary Costa are so beautiful! Even better than the movie versions I think. And the Tutti Camarata Orchestra songs are also amazing. Does anyone know when those songs was record/released?

I'm fine with Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey being the cover theme (it's my personal favorite Mickey, after all), but I do wish his eyes weren't so big. It contradicts the more artistic theme the covers have been going for, especially since it's an otherwise gorgeous piece.

The Fantasia release is the only one that I really want (besides The Little Mermaid), so I'm definitely looking forward to this release. And I'm really glad that we're getting both the original and Kostal recordings. This'll be a treat!

And I see nothing wrong with the cover. If you think about it, "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is the most recognized segment, so it had to be on the cover. I'm not saying that other images shouldn't be on the cover, but the one we're getting makes the most sense.

I don't mind the cover and I definitely plan to get this one (if it's not as high as MP). Looks like they got the cover for it up a lot faster than TLM's.

Surprised the reaction to the cover isn't more positive. I think it's absolutely gorgeous. Lorelay Bove at her finest. Sure, other segments would be fun to show as well, but she'll doing at least one painting for each, I'm sure, that will be included in the booklet.

I just listened to the Sleeping Beauty ST in the Legacy Collection. I'm thrilled they included the Tutti Camarata recordings of Mary Costa and Bill Lee. I hadn't heard them in years (ever since I got rid of my record player!) I only wish they had included some of the Darlene Gillespie/Mary Martin recordings as well on the bonus disc.

I just got the Little Mermaid's release..

I love love love that we finally get the little instrumental melody before Part of your world, but it's messed up in the soundtrack :(.

Also, while they say that the Poor Unfortunate Souls reprise is sung by Patt Carol, it's actually Jodi Benson. That bothered me a lot cause it's not right lol. Also, the track is missing Ursula's (not Vanessa's) laugh at the end. But what's weird is that Jodi's laugh is still there and it sounds menacing as heck! The orchestration also seems a bit off, maybe it's cause I'm not used to listening to the song without the video.

Also surprised that there wasn't a POYW reprise art in the booklet. strange.

But honestly, this is the soundtrack that I've always wanted. The complete score and the songs remastered, especially right after the blu ray release. Apparently this is the 2014 restoration. This is definitely one of my favorite releases in general.

How so?

And I'm very happy to hear the "PUS" reprise is from the mirror scene. :D I wonder why they kept Jodi Benson's laugh, although it won't bother me. The end of the main "PUS" is of course beautiful without Pat Carroll's cackling at the end, but it also sounds great with it, actually.
Also surprised that there wasn't a POYW reprise art in the booklet. strange.
WHAT? :o

My only regret with this release is that the deleted songs weren't included. I would like to have a .mp3 version of them, particularly "Fathoms Below" (with lyrics about Ursula), but I can't even find most of them on YouTube.

Well, it's like the music begins without words till ariel starts talking and it's just the background music, then the music kinda loops again when Ariel starts talking.

I'm most excited with Pocahontas. Will we be getting a clear studio recording of If I Never Knew You this time around? For me, it was a missed opportunity not to rerelease the soundtrack back in 2005 with the 10th Anniversary Edition DVD.

Mine is being delivered for the 1st December …. early Christmas gift to myself, so so SO excited !

And, now that you've said that rj.disney, I'm completely excited to hear 'If I Never Knew You' fully restored as well, I didn't even think of that !

I'm excited to hear what you'd think of the Legacy soundtrack to Mermaid Disney's Divinity when you get it if you don't mind ? And I completely agree with you taei that its extremely annoying that Pat is listed on 'PUS Reprise' when it isn't her. Though to be honest, I didnt even realise Vanessa singing to herself was even called 'PUS Reprise' !

YES!! This is without comparison the release in the Legacy Collection im the most excited about!!

It sounds SO great!! Other 90's gems like Beauty and The Beast and Aladdin deserves this treatment too - the restoration sounds fantastic!

@taei I don't hear anything wrong with the beginning of Part of Your world. Other than it sounding clearer, it sounds the same to me as always. I have a version of the song with the instrumental part as well (that is not an official release) and it's the same. Only this is clearer due the restoration and that it's an official mix.
