Yeah, but girls will still be going nuts over Maui once his full picture comes out. I have a feeling he will be the Mr. Fanservice of the movie.

this is amazing, I really hope this is what they will look like...

but I think the photoshopped dark skinned Elsa from the article is probably more likely what we'll end up getting, sadly. :|

as for love interests, if they keep Moana a 14 yr old I dont think theyll give her a love interest, but I think they might still give Maui one. And Disney has already seen the $$$ that having two female leads will bring them.

Funny how people claim that fourteen is too young to have a love interest, when actual teenagers younger than fourteen have relationships. Is fourteen too young to have a love interest in the Disney universe? No offense to the people who claim that fourteen is too young, though.

I hope the character designer makes a departure from the insanely big crazy eyes of Frozen.

Her movie was also made in the 1930s.

I don't expect a love interest, except maybe something like Taran and Eilonwy in The Black Cauldron.

Jamie Chung originally auditioned for Moana!
Q: With GoGo, what did you fall for in her when the part was presented to you?

Jamie Chung: You know, I actually did a table read for another Disney project that's in the process of being made -- it's called "Moana" -- and I had the honor of reading all of her lines, and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, because it's the lead character and her emotional journey. And [Disney Pixar CCO] John Lasseter's sitting right across from you, and the whole Disney Animation studio and all the directors are like, "This is so huge for us. This table read is going to determine whether or not this movie's going to be made and whether or not they like the script and where it's going." So it was so much pressure. And I was able to do it well, and John Lasseter was like, "I want her to come in and read for GoGo for 'Big Hero 6.'" So I was kind of handpicked, in a way, and the casting director agreed. She was like, "She'd be great. Let's bring her in." I didn't really know what "Big Hero 6" was about until I got there, and I read the lines and was like, "Oh, this character's great!" So easy. She's so dry and sarcastic.

Q: What was the audition process like?

Jamie Chung: Disney announced that they are doing their next project MOANA and I was called to do a table read and do the voice of the title character Moana. John Lasseter was in the room and later he asked me to audition for GoGo.

Jamie said Disney called her in to read for a new project called Moana and she read for the voice of the character Milano. It was a big table read and all the big wigs were there, like John Lasseter, everyone from Disney, including the creative team of the project. And then John Lasseter asked her to read for the part of Gogo Tomago. And the rest is history.

sadly enough, im not surprised! hear this all the time where i live, and most of the time they get bowed down to. wondering what the uproar would have been if theyd stuck them on a pocahontas-esqu ship with sails instead? "its not authentic enough! they should have used a boat like we sail!"
if disney is working with fijians to get things accurate and not step on too many toes, then they should be happy. it will likely do wonders for tourism. whats next, scotland sues for misrepresentation of kilts and bagpipes used in brave?

There'll be a short preceding Zootopia and Moana.
Q: What were some of the other ideas?

Kristina Reed: You know, I don’t know because I wasn’t involved in the short selection process, but we just went through it another time to pick a short for Zootopia, so that one’s going into production, and they’re just firing up the shorts selection process again to decide for Moana.

Musker & Clements talked briefly about Moana during a screening of The Little Mermaid for D23 members in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
Q: What's next for you guys?

John Musker: They did an announcement a couple of weeks ago...We're working on a new animated feature called Moana.

Ron Clements: We can't talk too much about it at this point. It's a little different than The Little Mermaid but it does have a young teenage girl and the ocean. So, in that respect they do have certain things in common.

John Musker: It's set 2,000 years ago and it's been fun. We've been storyboarding it, it's been written and now we're just getting into some animation tests and things like that. We don't really know exactly what the movie's going to be because we're still working on it. We hope it will be good.

Ron Clements: It's really fun and it's a really exciting project. We've been having a lot of fun working on it.

I hope there'll be one with WRECK-IT RALPH. So weird that it was successful, but it was still swept under the rug, like a month after its release.

Wow, 2016 is going to be some year for Disney, with 3 animated films coming out (2 from WDAS and 1 Pixar) within the year. I don't think this has ever happened before.

So according to my professor, who works with disney, they’re thinking of Selena Gomez being the voice of Moana. Any thoughts?

Oh, God. Can we please not go backwards, Disney? (And this is coming from someone who actually likes Selena Gomez to a moderate degree.)

Looks like they're determined to f. up M&C's movie.

If Selena gets in, this could explain why Mandy Moore replaced Kristin Cheno in Tangled (Not putting Kristin Bell in this, I believe the directors when they say Kristin was the best out of the thousands who auditioned for Anna). According to Disney, Princess and the Frog bombed because of no big stars as the leads (Oprah and Terrence had like what? 3 lines). So, now they're turning to Dreamworks: Much as big stars as possible.

I mean, how can you explain that Disney and the casting for the Musker/Clements movies go from unknown Jodi Benson (with such an iconic voice) to Tony-winner Anki Noni Rose to Disney Channel star/pop star Selena Gomez? :face palm: There's reason why Tyra Banks and Beyonce didn't get Tiana (if TPATF came out today... ). What's next: Carly Rae Jepsen as Angelina in Giants? (As a girl who saw her in Cinderella, my answer is: She did a great job, acting like a princess, but she seriously needs to work on her singing voice, sounding classical. Only then, I can have a much more open mind for Carly)

No, offense but he really doesn't seem to be 100% if they are going to hire her. And for people saying they are now hiring big names. Remember their latest movie that didn't have huge big names. Yes, they were noted actors in the entertainment business but they were more B-listers.
