With BH6 hardly getting any attention on these boards I can only imagine what Zootopia will get. Until WDAS officially announces their next fairy-tale musical, Disney Animation is on a 2yr hiatus. The live-action fanfictions of Walt's Classics will fill the void
When do you guys think we'll get an update for Giants? And do you guys think it's possible if we get a surprise teaser for Zootopia AND Giants before BH6 like that Wall-E trailer with the directors? Like, "Hey, we have nothing next year. But, here's what's going on in 2016?" You can argue about Good Dinosaur, getting nothing, but keep in mind: It was a very last second decision.

Just have to hope this is more "Robin Hood" and less "Chicken Little".
I think after what they have churned out lately they have learned their lesson and are doing what they do best while also be experimental. I do like the idea of an animal buddy cop movie. This sounds like this could a spiritual licensee of Sam and Max. I have a feeling this movie will make a new generation of furries just like "The Great Mouse Detective" and "Robin Hood".
Also I want to bring up since this will also have a female lead character I think this will get the attention of those who want Disney to have more non-princess protagonists. We just have to see if she and the fox main character will be romantically involved later or remain platonic. I do have this feeling it will be the latter like in Finding Nemo where two opposite genders are just friends.
For any possible pop culture references I do think they would do it in the style of how Wreck it Ralph handled it. It will be carefully placed and builds the story and world rather than just pad the movie.
I know that I said before that it's weird that we have no information on the future WDAS movies, but I just realize that it's more weirder that we have nothing about Zootopia yet.
Zootopia is coming in March 2016, which is much earlier than November 2016. So when both inside Out, which is next June and may I add: 9 months away from Zootopia, and TGD comes out in next November, we should be getting trailers to Zootopia. And it's August, 10 months away from Zootopia. By right now, we should be getting more updates to Zootopia like more of the story & the creative team & just plain updates on the movie. This is pretty odd. I hope things are okay with the 4, upcoming WDAS movies.

We kinda have a lot on stuff for Zootopia. We have a title logo. Multiple concept art images & the names of the 2 lead characters "Nick Wilde" & "Judy Hops". That's quite abet for a film that isn't do for release for nearly 2 years from now. Wreck-It Ralph: we didn't get anything at all til D23 in August 2011, 14 months before it's November 2012 release. Frozen didn't get any concept art images til August 2012 at Destination D, but that was behind closed doors to a payed audience with no camera's allowed. Wasn't til that October when that concept image of Olaf & that sketch image of Elsa's "Enough" was finally released to the public, with the film 13 months away from release. We will get lots more Zootopia stuff a year from now at D23 Expo next August. I believe the reason WDAS won't release more info on Giants/Moana is because there really isn't a reason for them to. They want their audience to focus on they're current animated feature "Big Hero 6" and not be looking ahead to other animated features released years from now. That is why I believe we won't get any new images for Giants/Moana at next August's D23. It would clearly take away all the attention away from Zootopia while Zootopia is trying to build interest for it's release in early 2016. But the longer they keep Giants/Moana hidden, leaks will follow as we saw for Tangled/Frozen. So I hope WDAS doesn't keep them to tight lipped. But as for now we already know the future of WDAS for the next 2 years: no feature scheduled for 2015 & Zootopia scheduled for a March 2016 release. Beyond that, nothing is official until Disney makes an official announcement or there is a leak.
I'm obviously over analyzing this, but something odd caught my eye while I'm looking at this official chart that Disney just released (It's huge, so it wouldn't load):
It confirms that WDAS is indeed having something in March. But, yet Zootopia was confirmed last year and it's "Untitled". Common mistake or is Giants going to be that March now? In fact, why isn’t there anything announced for WDAS in November 2016? O_O
There is no untitled project at Disney right now.
Everything in development, pre-production and production has a title.
This is either a legal issue about securing known titles or it's misinformation.
The same thing happened with Bolt because of legal issues with the name/title (that's why in France it is named Volt...).
Anyway, Zootopia is set to be released in April 2016.
Well, while Giants isn't doing that great now and we have nothing on Wreck-It Ralph 2 and Moana, of course it's Zootopia that's doing great
Also, one little tiny tidbit I wanted to throw in: Zootopia is doing very well. It could release in November 2015 if the suits let it, but next year Pixar is making a big splash with 2 films, so that isn’t happening.

I don't get the lack of love for this film! I know that there are some of us who are excited for it, but because it's an animal buddy movie, some of you just don't care??
unprincess wrote:I dont get why a movie about sentient anthro animals populating their own world without humans is called Zootopia? maybe the movie will explain it.
Late reply, I know. The title is a combination of zoology (the scientific study of animals), and utopia (a perfect world).
Of course, now that you mention it, it could also be a combination of zoo and dystopia. Would be kinda clever if there was a literal kangaroo court in the movie, if the main characters got arrested or something.

Ditto. I think Zootopia has the potential to be a very charming, funny animated movie. It seems it's getting unfortunate comparisons to Chicken Little, but come on, that movie was made during a very brief and dark period at Disney when they were desperately trying to be DreamWorks rather than themselves.
I have complete faith that this film will be a winner.
