Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I still don't get why disney feel the need to change up the dubs every few years ? Is there any consistency with who they pick for Maleficent say, and then all other appearances Maleficent will make in Storybooks and things like that ?
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Hey Kenai,
You are right: Spain got the same re-dub, which is unusual. Spain is usually very adamant about making their own dubs. And you are probably right about Sleeping Beauty getting the 2001 dub.
For an American its kinda hard to understand, but for all of us who grew up in Latin America, the old dub was the real voice to us (regardless of quality... but yes, the old dub is far superior). Imagine if you bought Sleeping Beauty in English and all the voices were changed!!! You;d be horrified.
Now... if the old dub IS included, I will def get this edition. I doubt I will otherwise.
I read that Little Mermaid was released in Spain in 1989 with the latin dub... as was the VHS. Spain made their own dub for the film for the 1998 re-release. When the dvd came out, they only had the new dub, and it seems everyone was returning their dvds cause they wanted the dub they had grown up with. I;ve been told that they re-released the dvd with both spanish dubs...Sigh.

Oh.... Atlantica...
Well... not with merchandise. But they will keep the same actors for the sequels and the Enchanted Dreams dvds and that sort of thing.
I cant speak for other languages, but this re-dub thing didn't happen for decades. Only in 1997 and 2001 did they re-dub the movies in spanish. And not all of them, only 4 films. The woman who played Cinderella sued disney for royalties, and she got the singing voice of Aurora/Snow White to sue as well. The latter eventually dropped the suit, and died a few years ago.
Seems the Disney Channel Latin America has broadcast Snow White with the classic dub now that she has passed away...

Yes, all Little Mermaid releases from the Platinum Edition on have both Spanish dubs in Spain. My UK Blu-Ray has both for sure.Marce82 wrote:Hey Kenai,

Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

Is the Diamond gonna have the same transfer as the PE Blu-Ray or have they remastered it once again?

I think it's the same restoration as on the PE Blu-ray.271286 wrote:Is the Diamond gonna have the same transfer as the PE Blu-Ray or have they remastered it once again?

Did they take the video down? When I just clicked on it, it said "resource unavailable..."?DisneyJedi wrote:http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-wat ... ion-72751/

I will say this much about Maleficent's design here, she looks like Captain Hook in drag.

Maleficent sounded like Regina from Once, in that video.DisneyJedi wrote:http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-wat ... ion-72751/

... You don't think that Lana Parrilla (who plays Regina, by the way) could have been voicing her here. The Little Merboy wrote:Maleficent sounded like Regina from Once, in that video.DisneyJedi wrote:http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-wat ... ion-72751/

Do you?

Also, even if they're deleted, am I the only one who wishes the guys at Disney could fully animate the deleted scenes (lines, color and all) of all their movies for the Blu-ray/DVD releases? I mean, if they can make the storyboard sketched characters move like that in the link I posted, imagine how it'd look completely animated.
Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
You clearly have no idea of what it costs to produce Disney quality traditional animation.
I read somewhere that, back in the 90s, a minute of Disney animation cost around 100 thousand dollars. Which means it would be even more now. So no... don't think they'll be animating the deleted scenes any time soon....

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Yeah, it'd be a waste of resources, even if it was only DTV quality. This puppet animation is pretty neat anyway!
I'm glad they made Maleficent more stoic. She has a much stronger presence.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
Yeah, I agree. But I think it would be an interesting alternative, if they wish to do a new animated short for a new home video release. Instead of the new short, animate a deleted scene. You know, like the Get A Horse short on the Frozen Blu-ray. What do you, guys think?

The deleted scenes should only be seen with the original artist's work! Not "puppeted", not made to move, not changed in any way, just show the work they did!
