Yes, that's exactly what happened. Hans Zimmer didn't like the original mix of the score, which were made by Jay Rifkin, so for this release, he took all original recording tapes and Alan Meyerson, Hans' long partner for recording and mixing, and they remixed to the way Hans think it should sound.
