See Dreamworks, Illuminations, and Blue Sky: This is how you do a cast. The most talented people who can do the part, not the most famous people who can buy the part

You think Disney is hiring these actors so they don't have to pay them as much? Ryan Potter is probably getting payed less for voicing Hiro than Rihanna is getting to voice Tip in DreamWorks Home.

OH NO NO NO NO NO. I'm joking around with the BUYING part. Like these DW actors are rich millionaires. That's what I meant, not the payment of the role.

I don't think it's to pay them less. Disney has usually been good with hiring people whose voices fit the characters rather than getting a big celebrity name. Even Robin Williams was chosen to be in Aladdin because the directors felt he had the right manic energy to play a constantly shape-shifting Genie. I also find Blue Sky does well with who they pick to voice the characters (with Nicki Minaj being the lone exception, but the Ice Age sequels are their only studio-mandated films, so it makes sense Fox would have more control over the casting on those).

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how well Pixar is at hiring actors to voice their characters. I really like that when whenever the movie has a kid character, they actually find a kid to voice the character instead of an adult.

Also can we finally put to rest that Honey Lemon looks too much like Rapunzel? I mean we did the same thing with Anna last year (myself included when I saw the first leaked photo). This time, we should just like it play out.

From that image, she looks a bit taller and lankier than Rapunzel... And kinda reminds me of Iggy Azalea.

I am kind of glad for this they got lesser namers for this role. I kind of hope myself that Honey Lemon is Hispanic because it might quell the anger of people who are disappointed that she is not Japanese anymore. Although now that I think about it would be better she was changed to a person of white Hispanic descent. Not to mention show that Hispanics come in many different appearances. I do have a feeling that Disney might get some praise from the African American community for having a black character in their main cast. Although people would have to be reminded that this is not their first time putting an African American in the main cast because if anyone remembers Atlantis Dr.Sweet the team doctor was half African American and Native American. In my opinion next to Atlantis The Lost Empire this has been the most diverse cast of characters Disney has had.

Problem is Atlantis isn't really that highly regarded of a movie so people might forget. :P

Its a cult classic among those who actually like it for some of its unique aspects that separate it from other Disney movies.

Getting to the topic of diversity I do love how these cast of characters reflect the modern ethnic landscape of America. Yeah, the few fans of the comics will have some gripes that the team is not all Japanese or in Tokyo anymore but looking at the voice actors and how much more diverse the team is now I have a feeling they will actually praise Disney for thinking outside the box. I do say so myself that people will be glad that the main character is Japanese who is even better voiced by a Japanese actor making it one of the biggest animated films this year that has a POC lead.

I really like the look of the characters and the range of voice actors for this movie! Though there are MANY CGI skeptics out there (who mostly believe every 3D Disney female character looks like Rapunzel)... I personally feel that Bolt, Tangled, WIR, Frozen and BH6 all look unique and there is a real sense of individualism within their characters.

Anyway.. It's looking good so far!! Hopefully, this will become a popular franchise for Disney.

I love the designs and think the cast is great. I really like how you can tell the personality and demeanor of each character through their poses. Strong characterization and a testament to the character designs, artists and animator's talents.

Ah yes, 2001, the year of Shrek 1 & Monsters Inc. Atlantis didn't have a chance. Reminds me of Bolt in 2008. It was overshadowed by Kung-Fu Panda & Wall E.

To be fair though, how many of you knew who Jay Baruchel was before he was Hiccup?

Oh sure, I'll bet you've seen one of his lesser movies before, but unless you've seen Undeclared (aka the lesser Freaks and Geeks), I doubt that you'd know him by name. But I mean, you're mostly right about Dreamworks anyway.

I knew him as Danger from the Oscar-winning film "Million Dollar Baby".

This could be a star making role for some of these actors especially Ryan Potter whose biggest gig was being on the Nickelodeon show Supah Ninjas. Maybe this could get him more into voice acting.

I like it so far...

yeah I really would have prefered the comic version of Fred zilla to whatever the heck thats supposed to be in the movie...

Im getting such a Jubilee from X-men vibe with Gogo:

there are white and blonde hispanics, so it may be a possibility.
I have a feeling people will complain b/c they chose a hispanic of white ethnicity(& blonde no less)& feel its a cop out...

Like what happened when Sofia turned out to be Hispanic?

I never know if a Hispanic is just a guy from South America, or is a similar term to "latin" that makes a group with south americans and southern europeans, but as a Spaniard I must tell you, we have all the skin tones in the book, myself having black hair, green eyes and a light skin tone.

If you look at Mexicans for example they tend to have darker skin, but If you look at Argentinians they tend to have lighter tones, and if you watched the World Cup the Brazilian crowds had a healthy mixture as well, so yeah, I don't see why they are making a big deal, if anything they'll fight against the stereotype, you can be blonde and Hispanic as well.
