Need help getting my Disney movies from iTunes to Flixster..

Post by dvdjunkie »

It has well over a month now that I have asking this question. Since I am not a fan of watching Disney movies on 2" screens on smart phones, and tablets and computers, how can I get them over to Flixster or UltraViolet without paying an exorbitant fee?

Is there anyone out there that can help me with this. I would hate to have to pay the $20 and up fees to download my Disney collection from their list.

Hoping someone can help me with this problem. The only Disney flick that I got over to Flixster via iTunes was "Saving Mr. Banks".

Over 40 people have looked at this thread, but not one has offered any tiny bit of help with my problem.

I don't own any other electronic devices, iPads, iPods, smartphone, tablet, or any other device that iTunes supports. What I do have is a very nice 60" LG "Smart" television and I have loaded over 100 of my titles to Flixster or UltraViolet and would like to know how I can get my Disney films over to either of these 'clouds'.

Can someone please offer me a solution to the problem?

UV is actually a different format...

Providers vary by title, as do the number of redemptions. You may be out of luck. I'd recommend going through the digital copy sticky thread at blu-ray.com (linked below) or emailing/calling Digital Copy support (also below).

There are alternative solutions, though they may not appeal. I have a PS3 Media Server app installed on my laptop, so via WiFi I can access media on my laptop for playback on my TV. Or you could just connect your laptop to the TV via HDMI.

Thanks for the help. But I really need it broken down into English. I am not at all computer literate at this stage of the game.

Why was I able to move "Saving Mr. Banks" into Flixster but I can't move any of the others? Will I have to pay to have this done?

A given digital copy may only be offered a single source of redemption—iTunes *or*, for example, Vudu. Some titles offer redemptions from more than one source with the same code. Some offer redemptions from more than one source using separate codes. I don’t have my Mr. Banks at hand, but I suspect that title may fall into the second category.

As best as I can tell—if iTunes redemption is the only option offered, it’s only viewable within the Apple ecosystem. I suspect that DisneyMoviesAnywhere is feeling pressure to find a way to work and play well in the smart TV arena, but at this time you may not have a cloud-based solution available.

If you still have your codes, I’d go back and look at what redemptions options are offered.

So if the objective is to get all your DCs available on the same single cloud service, that’s probably not practicable unless you want to purchase UV copies.

If the objective is to watch your DCs on your 60” TV, you’ll have to connect an iTunes/DisneyMoviesAnywhere piece of hardware to your TV—laptop, tablet, or an AppleTV unit (which, at $100 or less, can still be had more cheaply than it would cost to repurchase a half-dozen DCs that would be viewable/dowloadable from other sources). A lot of smart TVs are capable of file playback without using a proprietary app—you could also try downloading one of your DCs to a thumb drive or some other external storage, connect that to your TV’s USB port, and see if it will recognize and play back that file.

The whole digital copy thing is a bit of a mess, but there it is.

Thank You for clearing that up. Now I think I understand what is going to have to happen for me to get my Disney movies available to me on another service.

Thanks for your explanation, in plain terms, it was very easy to understand.

I finally got to the bottom of this situation by going directly to the source - Disney Movies Anywhere - and talked with a cast member, who set me straight on how to get a few of my more recent movies to the Vudu and UltraViolet cloud.

All new Disney Blu-ray releases from this day forward will have the DigitalCopyPlus.com code in the packaging and you will be given a choice of where you want to put your movie.

So far in my collection I have gotten "The Pirate Fairy", "Oz The Great & Powerful", "Planes", "Robin Hood" and "Frozen" added to my Vudu collection. I will spend some time today going through my Disney Blu-rays and making sure that I haven't missed any of them.

Thought you would all like to know that I still don't understand why anyone would want to watch their movies on a little 2" iPhone screen, or even their iPad and Laptop computer. I am just happy that I can enjoy my Disney releases on my Cloud, from this day forward.
