3 Questions
I have 3 questions concerning questionable content in "Aladdin" and "Little Mermaid". These are two of my favourite movies, and although I've never come across anything inappropriate in them, some people swear it's there. Maybe I'm being naive, or it's really hard to spot.
1. In "Aladdin", there's apparantly an "inappropriate phrase" said somewhere in the movie. What and where is it????? I've never heard anything bad in it, and I must have seen it dozens of times.
2. In "Little Mermaid", the minister who (almost) marries Eric and Vanessa/Ursula is supposedly acting inappropriately. I always thought he was just an eccentric old man who was just acting giddy. Is there more to it than that?
3. When "Little Mermaid" was first released on video, many of the videos were recalled because Ariel's navel showed on the cover, and the picture of King Triton's Castle on the cover was "inappropriate". What was wrong with the picture of the castle?????
Am I really stupid for not noticing these things? Or are they really hard to spot? Can someone please help?

Here are the explanations to all:
Little Mermaid Penis drawing: false, it looks like a penis but the artist confirmed that the castle had many towers that had penis shape this one can be seen better but there wasn't any intention.
Little Mermaid Priest Erection: That is only a different style drawing of the man's knees.
Aladdin: Phrase: Scat, good kitty take off and go
The Lion King: Sex word on clouds, false it spells SFX: Initials of special effects corporation.
The Rescuers: Naked Woman on Window: Sorry, Sad but true, no explanation.

No, sorry guys, say what you will, but that is not the priest's knee... Come on now, I know you all are smarter than that.
And while watching the movies it might sound like shoo kitty kitty, or whatever, but I was watching the movie one day and I was in the kitchen, and I distinctly heard him say "Good teenagers take off their clothes" or whatever it was, and I didn't even know that was suppose to be in there!
It is disturbing but true...
Oh, and in the second shot of the priest, there are 2 lumps, that I guess are suppose to look like knees, for anyone who caught the "engorgement" in the first shot, but it is obvious, that it was no knee... Now ecuse me while I

no, i think i'd have to disagree prince phillip. in aladdin, he says, "down kitty, down kitty. take off and go!" Try watching it with subtitles turned on. it is subtitled for the hearing impaired if your VCR and TV are capable. also, the mermaid shot IS his knee, and the only reason you think it is something otherwise is because you were told so.
However, I heard a disney urban legend once about the REAL reason for the obscene cover on the Little Mermaid's original release. Supposedly the artist was working on the cover when all of a sudden his boss came in and said, "your work is crap, you're fired!"and in the next breath said, "oh, and by the way, I want that Little Mermaid cover on my desk on your way out." so to get back at his boss, he implanted this image and never said anything until it got released.
Now, I know it's really far-fetched, but i thought it was a cool story that i would share with you all. I'm sure we'll never get to know FOR CERTAIN why things happened the way they did, but that's why they call them legends right?

A lot of times, subtitles, don't neccessarily match up with what the person is saying. The subtitles have to be programed in anyways, and even if that [the dirty message] was some how entered in subliminally, they certainly wouldn't put it in the subtitles...disneyfella wrote:no, i think i'd have to disagree prince phillip. in aladdin, he says, "down kitty, down kitty. take off and go!" Also if it was just some "stylized" way of drawing the knee, how come it got bigger and sank lower, now you don't have to look too closely to see that it isn't "knee" shaped, or maybe the problem, is that I haven't looked close enough... and when I saw this happen, it wasn't because someone told me about it, and everyone I was watching with noticed it too, and not 1 person thought it was his knee. I do not have a dirty mind or like to think of these things, in fact I am grossed out that people would put that kind of

But I guess this is another matter of interpretation, noone is going to be convinced otherwise if they already have a stand point on the matter...
Anyway, if you truely don't see the dirtiness that's ok, I certainly don't want to jade you, and I don't think the movies are ruined in any way, I still enjoy them as much as I ever did...

Ya know Phillip, I REALLY thought that you were kidding about your Priest with an erection thing. that's what's called an Urban Legend, and it is false.
I just put the DVD in and watched the scene in question. The first shot of the Priest. If you watch it, staring only at his crotch, it does sort of look like what you describe. But keep watching the movie. The scene following that where Scuttle flies in with the other birds, the camera zooms down on the couple and the Priest again. There, you can clearly see his two knobby knees, thus disproving the 'erection theory.'

yes, I already adressed this in an earlier post. Of course whoever pulled the joke would want to cover their but incase this was noticed and became a big deal, so they put is a second shot with two bulges, just so they could say they were his knees... I don't know why it seems so impossible that, that would be the case, but I will argue the p[oint no farther...

No, wrong again. Go back and watch the movie, use the zoom button if you have to, They are not bulges there but knees. He is wearing pants, I saw it VERY clearly. His robe ends around waist area, revealling that he has white pants on underneath.Prince Phillip wrote:yes, I already adressed this in an earlier post. People said the same exact thing about the Sultan in Aladdin. I remember hearing that rumor back in the laserdisc days, they even gave a frame number for it! I went to it and it did look like what they said. But when you hit play, the camera went around him, revealing again that it was just a knee. Maybe they need to stop animating these short male characters? Or maybe audiences need to concetrate on the story and not the short character's crotches!
