Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
I want more Broadway people!
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Wow, first Community gets renewed, now this. Two things I thought were dead are still going to happen. These last two days have been pretty awesome.
Looking forward to hearing more. There better be hand drawn animation in it or I might have to unleash the TsWade. Kidding. I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy.

Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
All I want is Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz back...
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Eh... I don't know how I feel about this.
I'm not a big fan of the first movie... not a fan at all.
1. I hated the songs. When I heard that Stephen Schwartz, the writer of Hunchback (favorite soundtrack) and Pocahontas, I couldn't wait to hear the music. When I saw the movie, i thought it was disappointing. None of the songs appealed to me and I just couldn't remember any of them after the movie. They were also too broadway-esque. The instrumentation and the lyrics.
2. The animation on the animated segment wasn't that good. I've heard my sisters praise the animation, I personally thought it was lacking. I didn't like Giselle's design, especially since she looked nothing like Amy Adams. The animation IMHO was too polish and not well done.
3. The whole idea of a "True Love's Kiss" is one of the tropes that I hate the most, and this movie was filled with it.
4. I hated Giselle, and especially the way she acted. I don't understand why being a princess makes you act like an insane person. The way that she moves her arms was just annoying to me.... It bothers me even more when I see the princesses at the parks do that because the original 3 never acted like that.
5. It was too childish. Especially the way they defeated the villain. It didn't feel like they were trying to appeal to the adults at all, except for casting Patrick Dempsey.
So for this sequel, I have no hopes for it, and while I am glad for the people who are happy about it, I just can't get excited about it.
I know that it won't be completely 100% animated because that would be unwise for disney, from a business pov.
I really hope they go with brand new characters and bring in a team of good songwriters, maybe the lopezes.
However, with the success of Maleficent this doesn't seem like a bad idea, now let's see how long it'll take for the movie to come out.

You racist bastard. I suppose if the animation were Spanish or French instead of Polish, you would have liked it better.taei wrote:The animation IMHO was too polish and not well done.

Haters gonna hate. Enchanted is awesome and so is Giselle. I'm so happy we're having this sequel finally.
I only want more Giselle adventures in the sequel (possibly animated), but I have the idea the movie'll be more towards live-action and focusing on the other "normal" boring characters.

Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
I'm really mixed on this.
Have a total firm belief its been revived due to Frozen and a certain main characters song ……
I want to have the whole main cast back, or no dice; Amy Adams is whatmade Enchanted. If she gets shoved off for Idina Menzel, though I love her as well, it will be awful.
And, oh my gosh, what if Menken gets taken off the film for the Lopez team ?! Would that happen ?!

That could very well happen *sigh* It would be sad, though. Amy Adams was the star of the film, and if the sequel turns into "semi" Frozen...:/
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
She wasn't just the star though, to me, she was the film, you know ?
The director even said, there were so many famous and talented actresses that read for it, but Amy was the only one who played Giselle as a real person, and the only one without a 'nudge nudge wink wink' attitude towards her.

I can tell you haven't seen 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' in a long, long time.taei wrote:4. I hated Giselle, and especially the way she acted. I really liked 'Enchanted' (only the dragon's design was disappointing to me), so I'm happy it's getting a sequel.
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
How she gestures is what Amy took directly from the Disney films themselves, and most certainly the theme park versions as well. Yes it is slightly exaggerated, but I certainly don't think she seems insane ?
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Taej, I feel you may have missed the point of Enchanted. The *whole point* was to exaggerate the overdone tropes in past Disney films and fairy tales. "True loves kiss" - THE most overdone thing. They're poking fun at it. The songs - completely silly and over the top fairy tale fluff, done big broadway style. The acting - over the top "princessy." More exaggerated than Snow White or Cinderella, because again, that's the whole point.
You should give it another chance with that in mind.

... It's happening? For real?!
HAPPY DAY!!!

HAPPY DAY!!!
Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Exactly ! That's exactly what Enchanted was, an homage to the originals that it inspired. It really annoyed Amy when being interviewed that a reporter said it was a 'piss take' of Disney; she said that it certainly wasn't that…was done as almost a love letter if you will, to past Disney Classics. A little bit of a fun twist with the songs etc, but all done with the best taste.SWillie! wrote:Taej, I feel you may have missed the point of Enchanted. I thought 'Enchanted' was passionately constructed.

Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Pretty sure they're going to give Idina a bigger role in this, probably even a couple of songs. Which I don't mind.
As long as the other cast members also come back.
However, one thing I'm not sure about is the story. I really liked the way everything was wrapped up in the first movie and I wouldn't want this story to feel forced. Let's just hope the writer can think of something good.

Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
The only thing good about the original was Menken and watching Amy Adams/James Marsden reacting to a "real" world, so I'm not sure where they can go from there. They'll have to really add a lot to make a new story. Hopefully no revived Susan Sarandon, who was awful in the first one (although I generally like her).

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

oh yeah, definitely, this thing was long dead and buried...I really hope their plan is to focus on Idina's character which means we'll see more of Edward, who believe it or not is my favorite Disney prince!
on the other hand Im worried that this is gonna go CGI for the animated scenes. I mean as far as Disney is concerned, audiences have fully accepted them as a CGI studio and the first film was done a long time ago, long enough that audiences probably wont care about the change in animation techniques. Also doing it in traditional style means theyd have to rehire 2d animators(NOT gonna happen) or farm it out to another studio & a completely different one from the original studio as I believe that one doesnt exist anymore. If they are gonna use CGI Id hope theyd at least consider a hybrid form that at least tries to capture the style & organic-ness of the first film's animation. Heck maybe this would be the perfect project for them to employ the Paperman technique!

Re: Enchanted 2 Discussion
Keep in mind WDAS was never involved with the original film. Hell, Lasseter didn't see it until the Hollywood premiere. Considering its critical/public success I imagine he must have at least enjoyed it. But any involvement from WDAS will depend on how he really felt about the film.unprincess wrote:Have a total firm belief its been revived due to Frozen and a certain main characters song ……

Can't they get James Baxter again?
