At this point, I'm really only focused on getting the princesses and the villains. If they happen to come out with other characters I like though, I'll probably get them. Or if one of the others looks really nice.DC Fan wrote: I´d like to know if someone here collects these Funko Pop Vinyl figures.
If so, if you´re going for a specific group/series or just characters you like.
Overall, not feeling the TLK or Bambi ones, but I might end up getting Scar at some point. These things are overpriced. I personally think they shouldn't be over $5-7, but $13 is ridiculous.

But the quality control for these figures is horrendous.
I can't believe how many paint defects occur on these figures.
I recently bought the full Dragon 2 set, and I had to go through 4 different exchanges with amazon because none of them came out good.
Heck, even the ones that I finally decided to keep still look damaged.

Agreed on the price point. It's largely why I haven't gotten any.
And, YES, the pain defects. Lord! I would have bought Jafar at my local Barnes and Noble but the only two I've seen have had horrendous paint defects--black smears across the eyes, the cobra staff is bent and misshapen, etc. It's more than a little annoying.

I dunno, at least they're bigger than the Vinylmation figures are, which are around the same price, if not a little more.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
The Vinylmations have better quality control, though, you have to admit. Whenever I look at Pops in stores, nearly half of them have defects. If not more than that. I own a few Vinylmations and the only one that has a defect at all is my Frollo figure, who has a paint smudge on the top of his head. (Which is easily covered by his hat accessory, but still.) I think because I mistakenly bought a 'scrap' figure on eBay before realizing that those are the ones that DO have defects.
Disney has been pretty much on top of the Vinylmation defects. They've recalled quite a few series (Whiskers and Tails I think was the name of one...or Furry Friends, I can't recall) because they weren't up to snuff. Making those figures pretty rare on the secondary market. Funko's quality control isn't nearly as strict.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
Yeah, I guess that's fair. I don't have nearly as many Vinylmation figures as Pops, mainly since I just don't get that much of an opportunity to go to the Disney Store or parks, while Pops are available at a lot of places here, but I've heard of few defects in comparison to Funko's stuff.
Funko still wins for me since I've personally never had to spend more than $11 on a figure, though.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
I'd honestly rather pay an extra $2 for a figure that has been quality checked.
While I love funko figures, i prefer vinylmations a lot over them. There's a lot of creativity on vinylmations and the designs alone are worth the money.
With Funko, you can kinda expect and guess what the design will be like.
The examples that I love to use are:
mother gothel: http://edge.chasingvinylmation.com/imag ... chaser.jpg
flounder: http://galleryplus.ebayimg.com/ws/web/3 ... 0x1000.jpg
Robots series 3:http://vinylmationkingdom.com/robots-3/
Robots series 4: http://vinylmationkingdom.com/robots-se ... ylmations/
so incredibly beautiful and creative.
Funko has rubbed off on me. After going through 9 different figures for the Dragon series and unearthing all the wreck it ralph figures in Hot Topic, it's disappoints.
I just still don't understand why these are not quality checked. I mean, the mystery figures and vinylmations have better quality control, and they are half the size of POP figures!!

Re: Funko POP! Disney
I started collecting them but I´m not going to go crazy over them; mainly because I have other collections and I don´t want to keep making and making.
So, I´ll settle for the Disney Villains and Justice League plus Green Arrow (that´s 8 figures).
Already got: Jafar and Ursula.
Frankly, I get the appealing.
Yes, I do believe they could be sold cheaper but still they´re affordable. And Funko has nailed it with these figures:
1. Lot´s of different characters from so many cultural pop things.
2. Easily available.
3. Affordable.
4. Basic figures with unique designs that almost everyone can get into; no design is better than other.
5. Don´t take that much space.
6. They made these collectibles so popular that everybody (including people that might be ashamed before of collecting "toys") can go ahead and buy them and tell and show them to the world.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
I know everything has its fans, and I probably wouldn't say this again if it wasn't brought up in comparison to Funko Pops, but I just do not like vinylmations and don't get the appeal at all.
To be fair, the Funko designs can be predictable, which is why I usually only get animated characters. I would never buy these for live-action characters, for instance, which are very hard to distinguish them from one another besides the hair and clothes. However, animated characters usually have very distinctive designs that stand apart from one another. I mentioned before that I would love Sailor Moon pops, and with the new anime and re-release of the old anime, maybe that may be more likely to happen now.
Good for you, DC Fan. I think the majority of the villains have turned out very well.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
I didn't get the appeal of Vinylmations until I saw the Professor Ratigan Vinylmation that was released in Villains Series 3. And that's when I was like, "Well, I HAVE to have that." Because the design ON the form, not necessarily the form itself, was SO true to the spirit of the animated character, and because the character NEVER gets merchandise. It really bowled me over. And then I saw the Frollo Vinylmation from the same set, with his adorable hat piece accessory, and felt equally excited about it. To be fair, a lot of Vinylmations leave me cold. The design has to WOW me, or else be a character that NEVER gets representation, for me to want it.
Some of the great Vinylmation designs, in my opinion, are the aforementioned Ratigan and Frollo, as well Gaston and Chernabog, all from Villains 3, (the Beauty and the Beast series Gaston underwhelmed me), Scar from The Lion King series, Hades from Villains 2, Mrs. Potts from the Beauty and the Beast series... These are the types of Vinylmations I go gaga over. And there are just as many bad designs that come to mind... Captain Hook from Villains 2, for instance. Jafar from Villains 1. It's always a guessing game. "I wonder WHAT they'll come up with for such-and-such character." Whereas with Funko, like you guys said, it's pretty easy to picture what the design will look like.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
Paint flaws with POP figures are definitely an issue, which is why I prefer to buy them in person. When that can't be done and I do end up with a flawed POP I find one of the simplest ways to fix it is to very lightly go over the paint flaw with a Mr Clean Magic Eraser and some hot water. Minor flecks of misplaced paint disappear quickly as do scuff marks and such that occur from production.
My partner makes fun of me all the time when I am shopping for these cause I will go over every single POP of a certain character and choose the best paint job. He doesn't get my picky nature when it comes to these matters.

Actually, I do this with everything I buy. I can't stand buying something for $10-20 and having scratches, creases, or smudges.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
Can you tell me which Disney villains have been discontinued or hard to find?
I want to know so I can keep a list. That way instead of going for figures I want I´ll go for those harder to find first.
Thanks.
For example, I´d like to get the Wicked Queen first but seems I should get Captain Hook or Cruella first.
BTW, which one would you get: King Candy or Turbo? On the one hand the character we know is King Candy but his true self is Turbo. Don´t know what to do.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
Ursula, Jafar, Cruella, Hook, Chernabog, King Candy, Turbo, Zurg and Syndrome are the Villains who have been retired so far.
Re: Funko POP! Disney
Thank you!
I´m having doubts if I should go for King Candy or Turbo; don´t want both.
However, on my store they have King Candy. And since that´s how he is most of the movie, and since I don´t particularly love the character as to chase the other version down, I guess I´ll get that one.
In fact, tomorrow I was going for Cruella but if I can I´ll be getting King Candy as well.
I´m from Spain. Here these figures aren´t so popular so I shouldn´t to particularly worry about that. Still, better safe than sorry.
...mmm, I guess it´ll take sometime since I can get Evil Queen.
On August, my Comic Book Store will be getting Captain Hook and Scar. So, I´ll reserve those as well.
BTW, why is Jafar discontinued? I barely saw him not so long ago and they won´t be making more? That´s weird.

Re: Funko POP! Disney
I would get King Candy if I were you. I think Turbo looks ugly in the movie and even uglier as a pop (and not in an aesthetically pleasing ugly like, say, Ursula or Yzma). I still haven't picked the WIR pops up. For some reason I'm not on the ball with some of these, even though I liked that movie and the pops look nice.
I'm wondering if Aladdin in general is suffering from low merchandise sales, which might be why?DC Fan wrote:

Re: Funko POP! Disney
The thing with King Candy is that I tend to over think these kind of things.
In this case, yes, the villain is King Candy however his true form is Turbo. A design that, as ugly as it is, is the one that stays closely to the 16 bit video game era; something I like.
The same would happen if they made the Evil Queen in her Witch form. However, in her case that was a disguise.
On the other hand, we got to know King Candy as King Candy throughout the whole movie. So that´s that. And then, there´s my case where my store already has the figure so why would I make the effort in looking for Turbo when, besides, it´s not a character I particularly like?
I´m also wondering, when the time comes, if I should get Sir Hiss. As mentioned I just want to stick with the villains. That´s the most important ones. And I don´t consider him as such. I think of him as what he is: Prince John´s minion/sidekick. That´s not the case with Kaa. Not only wasn´t he allied to Shere Khan but he was a villain on his own.
Question: So, what figures do you collect?
Personally, I´m going to stick with just the Disney Villains and the 8 Justice League members I want.
However, I might make exceptions for:
-Sorcerer Mickey: Not that I love Fantasia much less his segment (I think it´s the weakest one in the movie) however as a Disney fan I should have the main Disney character and what better option that this version of him?
-Ralph: I really like the movie and his character.
-Stitch: Love him.
-Genie: Love Aladdin and he´s one of my favorite characters. Plus the figure looks really good.
-Darkseid: Just to have the most powerful DC villain.

To many. My main ones are Disney, Muppets, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Adventure Time, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Horror, Batman characters and Marvel Movie versions.DC Fan wrote:Question: So, what figures do you collect?
I also get a lot of the Movie TV Show characters like Ghostbusters, Wizard of Oz, Back to the Future, Simpsons, and Hanna- Barbera etc. Also have the two Elvis figures, the 4 KISS figure and the Billie Jean Michael Jackson from the music line. Also have one of the Stan Lee Exclusives.
Only one I try and get all versions for is TMNT and Adventure Time.
