Idina Menzel recording Christmas album

Post by Disneyphile »

(JTA) — Jewish Broadway performer Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa in Disney’s animated film “Frozen,” is recording a Christmas album.

“I know I’m Jewish,” she said Wednesday night during a performance at Radio City Music Hall, “but a lot of famous Jewish people have written Christmas songs, so I’m going to try and have a lot of their songs on the album.”

When I heard about this I put it at the top of my Santa List. It can't help but be good. She has an amazing voice.

I enjoyed the way she handled John Travolta's flub on her name at the Academy Awards. She was amazing then, and I am sure she will have an amazing album.

I will also be buying, even though she's not a Christian. Her voice will definitely do justice to the music. I hope she covers "O Holy Night."

Barbra Streisand has a great Christmas album. I'm sure Idina's will be good too. But no one sings Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas like Garland. And Karen Carpenter's Christmas covers are sublime.

I agree totally about Karen Carpenter's Christmas Album, it is among my top five favorites holiday albums.

A couple of my favorites include Neil Diamond's Christmas Album and Garth Brooks Christmas album. If you want an album with some novelty in it, you have to go way back to the 60's and listen to Buck Owens and the Buckaroos doing songs like "I'd like to have an elephant for Christmas" and "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy".

This coming Holiday season I will list my top 20 favorite Chrismtas Albums, and my top 20 Holiday singles and see how many most of you have heard or have in your collection.
