I don't like the designs of the other characters. While Hiro's design wasn't particularly outstanding, I preferred his design.

I don't want Disney coattailing behind Dreamworks' "talents", it should be the other way around.

Re: Big Hero 6
Im not sure yet, I need to see them out of costume. But Im seeing more of that round Tinkerbell-ish design on the females that was also present in Frozen, which is unforunate. I miss how with 2d you had a real variety of female figures...
long faces, round faces, heart shaped faces,
big eyes, little eyes, almond eyes
long noses, pointy noses, pudgy noses,
curvy bodies, skinny bodies, boyish bodies
flat lips, full lips, small lips
mature looking figure, teen looking figure,
its like they are using the same basic model rig for all the females... :\

Re: Big Hero 6
Honey and Gogo don't look anything alike to me, aside from the body types.
I mean I'm no genius about human facial features or character design but...
Gogo has a rounder and chubbier head with smaller eyes and a flatter, button nose. Honey follows a more "traditional" (read: "white") Disney standard of beauty with higher cheekbones, larger eyes, defined lips and a more heart shaped face.
...and that's just from a blow up of the low quality box image.

Honey has the typical Disney princess face, but it looks like the features are a little more intense, which I like. And she's supposed to have glasses I think
I like all of their looks really. The final products will look better in motion.

Re: Big Hero 6
I took the photos of the cubes at a Disney private party at Annecy Festival.
The faces designs of the characters are not really faithful to the actual designs.
Thoses poses are quite old, believe me because I have refs of the movie and saw more recent poses which are more appealing and accurate.
Anyway, their heroes suits are the same with a very few minor changes on them.
I attended the presentations of Inside Out, Feast and Big Hero 6 and they were all fantastic and exciting.
In the case of BH6, they showed the teaser in french (stupid title translation for my country : les Nouveaux Héros ! ack...) in 3D glasses.
Then, characters were briefly exposed as well as the plot which gave a huge spoiler to the audience that some of you might already know : Hiro's big brother Tadashi dies in the 1st act / a shot of Hiro in black suit at funeral was shown.
About Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Gogo Tomago and Fred, only a group image of them four in their everyday clothes was shown (Honey is dressed in yellow with glasses, very adorable...).
Oh, and Hiro lives with his aunt Cass (not mom Cass and not shown here).
2 scenes were screened for the 1st time outside of the studio.
They were mostly in final rendered CG, except a few shots in storyboards or CG work-in-progress (without lighting, or only rough anim'...).
The first scene was reallllly good and funny!
Beware the possible minor spoilers if you don't know more...
OK?...
Fine...
The first scene then is set in Hiro's bedroom and we meet Baymax trying to "heal" Hiro, feeling that he suffers from something.
Baymax is programmed to be a nurse robot, and...he talks!!
The scene is really well written and the audience laughed a lot...especially when Baymax wants to know how is the level of Hiro' suffering while Hiro only wants to be alone.
But Baymax wants to heal him, cuddle him then finds the explanation by the puberty of Hiro! I won't tell too much but it was so funny...
The lighting is awesome and there are a lot of details. Hiro's looks more teenage than in the teaser to me.
And Baymax is really the star of the show and he walks like a baby penguin ; he tries to be delicate but as a big robot, it is not easy for him to move in the bedroom. ^^
Secund scene was a flight of armored Baymax in San Fransyoko with Hiro on his back. It might remind Hiccup and Toothless' flight scenes or eventually (to me) Marahute and Cody in rescuers Down Under but the scene is brilliant as you imagine. the backgrounds are stunning and the city is really modern, realistic, full of combos of american and japanese's culture.
Voilà!
Personally, I'm very excited about BH6 and it sounds very promising.
Can't wait to watch the final entire movie.

The funeral reminds me of the funeral from Frozen.

Re: Big Hero 6
Why would anyone expect the designs to be faithful to the comics? As someone who's read the comics, I wouldn't expect that at all . The art style isn't at all Disney, the characters don't even exist yet to 99.99% of the public, and it'd be pretty boring if they just copied what was on the page quite frankly. It's no different from other Disney adaptations. The characters are closer than I expected actually.
Even some live action superhero movies aren't remotely faithful to the comics for both story and design.

Slightly OT, but DreamWorks' "Home" already has a full first trailer. And that film got pushed back to next Spring (although it was supposed to be out this November.)
I just find it hilarious how it all worked out. Disney is like the turtle to DreamWorks' hare.
(And if you guys wanna talk about "Home" without derailing this thread, here's a thread for you.)

Funny how the last Disney film was all about sibling love, and this movie starts up with the big brother dying. Irony much?
By that picture Honey Lemon looks like Astrid and Rapunzel's 21st century lovechild.

I thought the relationship between Hiro and his brother was supposed to be one of the focal points of the movie though? In which case, I don't really see any irony.thedisneyspirit wrote:Funny how the last Disney film was all about sibling love, and this movie starts up with the big brother dying. Irony much?
As for the images, I'm not feeling them much at this point. But there really isn't enough to make any judgements yet.

I agree. It's like saying the father-son relationship isn't important in TLK just because he dies early in the film. And I'm glad, actually.ce1ticmoon wrote: I thought the relationship between Hiro and his brother was supposed to be one of the focal points of the movie though? I don't mind this designs of the other heroes, but Honey Lemon's skirt is bugging me. I could go Edna and say "No skirts!", but you guys can understand how wearing a fricking a-line skirt can obviously make aerobic and stealth feats impossible. Cheerleading skirts are an exception. But an A-line down to the knees?
I also believe the complete rendering of the animation would make the character designs look better. Of course they look dopey and cheap. We would all look dopey and cheap if we were posing unaturally in a low-resolution camera shot. The animation in the teaser trailer was fluid like most of the scenes from Wreck-it-Ralph which suits the nature of an action flick and action flick characters.

Interesting.
Here in Brazil the title is Operation Big Hero 6, which reminds very much of The Avengers
