At first I didnt like it when Rapunzel joined the line either. Buy now I dont really care anymore. The whole line is a joke. I prefered the days when the movies were marketed individually and each character would retain their own unique personalities. Say No! to Stepford Princesses.

Re: Anna & Elsa to Join the Disney Princess Line
Well now that you mention it, it does bug me how much Aladdin is treated as a princess movie at times. Yes there is a princess in it, but the movie was so universally appealing and that was one of the reasons I loved it so much. It's really more of a "guy gets the girl" movie if you think about it cause it's mainly about Aladdin more than Jasmine, so it's not really as much of a princess movie as perhaps Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast.unprincess wrote:At first I didnt like it when Rapunzel joined the line either. So when will Anna and Elsa get to be crowned as one the official Disney princesses?

You'll think that they would do it November this year, during winter and during it's anniversary time.

Why wouldn't she join? She's 100% Disney. I can understand Merida though.unprincess wrote:At first I didnt like it when Rapunzel joined the line either.

Precisely (not that I plan to stop being pro-2D/anti-CGI anytime soon).unprincess wrote:cuz she was CGI. I was kinda like wade back then, I was very anti-CGI...
Re: Anna & Elsa to Join the Disney Princess Line
But Rapunzel is a Disney Princess through and through...I don't get why she wouldn't be there in the lineup? Merida is one thing, but Rapunzel?

I still think the 3D characters stick out like sore thumbs, so I haven't changed my opinion on that one. Even their 2D versions stand out as more hideous than usual (and that's pretty sad considering the already low bar).

I hope they market Anna in her green dress. It's probably my favorite princess dress and she would really stand out in it.

Why Charlotte (Princess and the Frog) didn´t join the Princess line?
I mean, if Mulan´s there and she´s not a real princess, why not include Charlotte that in the movie was mentioned her role was as one? Plus, she has her princess costume too.

I read somewhere that Disney is afraid that Charlotte would overshadow Tiana, and become an unfortunate implication on the company.DC Fan wrote:Why Charlotte (Princess and the Frog) didn´t join the Princess line?

Charlotte wasn't really an official princess in the movie anyway. She was only technically one for Mardi Gras until it was over at midnight. Tiana's the official Disney princess because she officially became one for marrying a prince.Warm Regards wrote:I read somewhere that Disney is afraid that Charlotte would overshadow Tiana, and become an unfortunate implication on the company.DC Fan wrote:Why Charlotte (Princess and the Frog) didn´t join the Princess line?

Charlotte's the sidekick anyway. The Princess line may be loose with who enters and who doesn't, but at least it's always added the main heroines.
That it's already unfortunate for the movie that general audiences and fandom seemed to like Charlotte much more over Tiana. Add her to the line and you're basically asking for war.

Which is something I never got. Yeah, Charlotte is cute and loves pink, but is Tiana such a bore to most people that they prefer the spoiled ditz over the hard working go-getter?thedisneyspirit wrote:That it's already unfortunate for the movie that general audiences and fandom seemed to like Charlotte much more over Tiana.
If so, yikes.

Re: Anna & Elsa to Join the Disney Princess Line
I don't think it's race-related: Charlotte is just more funny/cartoony than normal human female characters get to be in Disney films. She's more interesting than a lot of Disney princesses.

Re: Anna & Elsa to Join the Disney Princess Line
You said Charlotte is not technically a princess. That it was just fort the Mardi Grass. And yet she that gives her most reason to be there than Mulan; in fact, that whole way Tiana became a princess is very debatable as well.
Also, she´s spoiled and everything but she was always a good friend to Tiana until the end.
Another thing: So, we have Charlotte, a Disney character that wanted to be princess and got to "become one" and it´s not in the line. But then we have Merida that´s a Pixar character that NEVER wanted to be a princess and she´s shoehorned in the line?

Charlotte doesn't shut up the crazy Disney feminists. Merdia does.DC Fan wrote: So, we have Charlotte, a Disney character that wanted to be princess and got to "become one" and it´s not in the line. - Please note that there's nothing wrong with being a feminist or a Disney one. Just meant the crazy Beauty & The Beast = Stockholm Syndrome crazy ones.
Re: Anna & Elsa to Join the Disney Princess Line
Get your point.
But still, I mean, they even wanted to include Gisselle for heaven´s sake. A character I wouldn´t include because this movie was never meant to be canon.
And Charlotte is very fun, funny and people liked her. Also, and most important, the way she treated Tiana at the party, the compliment she gives her when she sees her as a princess and finally her decision in the end were real and very touching. To the point that she was indeed truly happy for Tiana.
I´d think that´s a character very much deserving of being part of the line.
