Movies Anywhere
Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
Good idea, I'll give that a try.
Super annoying lol I don't know why it's taking me to the iTunes site and telling me to download it, when I've had it for quite some time now.

But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I logged into my Disney Movies Anywhere account today and saw a number of additional titles I'd purchased on Disney Movies Online have now been added. Some were previously added, and now it appears the rest have been too, including some in the vault like Pinocchio, Bambi and Lion King 2.
These movies don't show up on my iPad, but they do show up on my AppleTV. Maybe the iPad synch is coming later?

If they show on your Apple TV (= Apple account), I don't see why they wouldn't show on your iPad as well.RyGuy wrote:I logged into my Disney Movies Anywhere account today and saw a number of additional titles I'd purchased on Disney Movies Online have now been added. I'm thinking it's just in process. They showed up on my iPhone, but not my iPad or iPod (I have a lot of toys). It's weird since it's the same Apple ID.
Pinocchio hasn't shown up at all. I'm watching Aladdin right now. It's definitely HD and looks amazing!

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
Maybe this means they're getting ready to launch a similar upgrading service for Disney Movies Anywhere? I hope so!

But when you say they showed up on your iPhone, do you mean on the DMA app or did they show up on your iTunes purchased history after all? I hope they did...

No, my purchased history. For example, I just downloaded a digital copy on my iPod.
Even those that aren't showing up in my video app, if I look them up in the iTunes Store, there is an icon that will let me download (though no option for Pinocchio).

I'm not sure if Pinocchio was ever available in the US iTunes store (I know Sleeping Beauty and Snow White never were) so that might be the reason this one's still missing.

For those who have previous Disney Movies Online films that are currently vaulted are iTunes purchased options being presented for Aladdin and what have you? I only need Aladdin Fantasia Snow White Bambi and Sleeping Beauty...

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
Good news: Just noticed last night the iOS app was updated last week (version 1.0.12) and a lot has been improved and fixed!!
First, the account seems to always stay logged in, even if you close the app. You don't need to sign-in every single time you use it.
The whole app seems to run much smoother. Downloads, streaming and bonus videos all work much better now.
For international users: Seems like all the geographical restrictions have been removed. I was able to use the app and stream my movies, the bonus features and even videos from the "Discover" section without using a proxy. So people who take their mobile devices abroad will now be able to watch everything. Finally, the app is worthy of the title "Disney Movies Anywhere". I hope this isn't just a mistake on their part that's going to get "fixed" on future updates
Also, did you guys get the DMA survey email yesterday?
I tried to give my feedback based on what I felt was still missing but there was no option to write your own thoughts on the most crucial questions. There wasn't any mention of a "Disc To Digital" program. The only choice remotely close to that was "Reduced Movies" under the "What Would We Like To See" category. I just hope this isn't only the usual $5 off they've been offering on select iTunes purchases.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I don't intend to hijack this thread, but I saw something funny on the Disney Movies Anywhere website. On the list of movies available to DMA there is practically every feature film Disney have ever made/released, including such incredibly obscure titles as "Trenchcoat". However, a few of the package films are missing.
I believe Melody Time and Make Mine Music are not on the list. While I have no intention of using DMA, I find it a bit ominous that these films have not been included as part of the service, and can't help wondering whether a Blu-ray release will not even be considered given the company won't be bothered to release said films digitally (which is cheaper and less risky).
Then again I can't help wondering that even the Disney animation package films have more commercial potential than friggin' Trenchcoat, but that one's available and they are not.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
Yeah, very strange omission there, it's been like that since day one. They're the only two of the WDAS films not on there. I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not it will ever come to blu ray or be offered digitally though, as there are PLENTY of films on there that will most definitely never see a blu ray release. I'm guessing it's an oversight by the studio that created the app and will get fixed at some point.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I noticed that too. As SWillie said, this is just an oversight. When the whole service was first launched back in February there were many more missing titles which have since been added. They have mentioned that they will continue to add more movies and if I remember correctly there was even an option to report about a missing title in the "help" section.
"The Return Of Jafar" for example is also missing (I know this one's "in the vault" but it should still be listed, the second Aladdin sequel is there) and this one most definitely will get a Blu-ray release.

Thank you both for your reassuring posts.
Have you guys tried DMA? Are you satisfied with it?

I have been using it briefly since when it first launched, but after this last update I will definitely be using it more. As you can read from the start of this thread, there is still a lot that needs to be fixed, but they are getting there.Jules wrote:Thank you both for your reassuring posts.

If you use an Apple iDevice, and have imported Blu-rays/DVD's that include digital copies from the US, this will work just fine for you now. All you need is a US iTunes account which is pretty easy to set up.
Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
For a service that's still in it's infancy, I think they've done a fantastic job with it. It's definitely become my preferred way to watch Disney movies. It's not perfect yet, but they seem to be making pretty frequent updates with fixes and improved features. I know I've said some of this before, but want to give another review for Jules. A couple things I love about it:
- Convenience is obviously a big one here. No matter where I am, if I can get online I can watch my collection of Disney films. I can watch shorts on my phone during lunch at work. I go over a friends apartment, I can AirPlay my movies onto their Apple TV.
- The user interface. They've done a REALLY nice job in terms of designing the app itself. It's clean, extremely user friendly, organized, and fast.
- Bonus features. This is the really exciting part for me. Some of them films have more than others, but the ones that they've ported over all the bonus features for (take a look at Finding Nemo) are incredible.
A few things I feel could be improved:
- More content. 95% of Disney's feature films are included, but that doesn't include Touchstone, TV shows and most short films. I'd love to see a section dedicated to all these different areas.
- Customization. Nothing too complicated, but to be able to choose between different cover art or organzational options would go a long way in making my "collection" feel like MY collection.
- More providers other than iTunes, and more devices other than Apple. I list this last because they've already confirmed that other partnerships are coming - you'll be able to link your Amazon purchases, they're working on an Android app, etc. but they should get on it quick because most of the complaints are regarding these issues.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
There seems to be a very annoying technical issue with DMA currently (as I have been experiencing for the last few days and as also been reported by a few members over on blu-ray.com), where movies are missing from our collections. Out of the 54 movies in my DMA collection, 4 are currently missing (Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Winnie The Pooh (2011) and Cars 2). This definitely isn't the first time this happens, on previous times they even took out vaulted titles like The Lion King and Beauty And The Beast which was really nerve-wracking.
Anyone else here having this issue?
Very frustrating!!

Not that I've noticed (just checked for those 4 titles and they are still there). I've had issues logging in before and called their help desk. They are super nice/ helpful. I'd suggest giving them a call?stevemcqueen wrote:There seems to be a very annoying technical issue with DMA currently (as I have been experiencing for the last few days and as also been reported by a few members over on blu-ray.com), where movies are missing from our collections. Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I am still wondering why people add movies to their iPhones, iPads, etc. Don't they take up a lot of room? I have used the Disney Movies Anywhere to load the available films, that I have also purchased, to my UltraViolet or Vudu cloud. I currently have 25 Disney titles in my cloud and whenever I get a notification that a movie is available to transfer from iTunes to Vudu/UltraViolet, I take advantage of that and I can watch all my movies on my 60" HDTV, instead of a 2" phone screen. Why would someone want to watch a movie on a computer or smaller screen? I just don't understand today's technology, so that is why I am probably lost on this subject.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
It's nice when you're traveling so you're not a the mercy of whatever boring crap the airline decides to play for you (assuming they are playing anything).
In terms of movies taking up a lot of room, they absolutely do. I typically will download a few, watch them on my flight and then delete them (I can always re-download them later) and then I will download a few more for the return flight.
While there may be some people who watch movies only on devices, I suspect the majority use a device for those times when they can't watch movies on a large screen - flying, commuting to work on a train/bus, while waiting for an appointment, etc.
Having your movies in something like DMA is a perk because it gives you the option of being able to watch something from the cloud when you're stuck somewhere but can still get WiFi access. This happened to me last week when my flight was delayed and I didn't want to watch what I'd already downloaded because I wanted to save those for my flight. I also used the app to watch something in my hotel room at night.
Granted, it's not as nice as your 60" TV, but it's still nice to have options when you can't be home.
