Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
The inside of that lizard's mouth was way too realistic, kind of nauseating.
I liked the new toys... they should make a toy of the robot. I'm glad they aren't making another feature film but keep the characters alive with shorts and specials.

Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
Agreed, though I don't think any of us on here really expected it to be scary. It really could've been a little heavier on that aspect.dvdjunkie wrote:My 9 year old grandson, and six year old granddaughter had one question after it was over.
"How come there weren't any scary parts in this show. It's called "Toy Story of Terror" and all we did was laugh."
We didn't have a good answer for them, so we just told them the toys probably found what happened to Woody very scary.
Great show in my opinion. I found it to be very funny and very special.
I enjoyed it though.

D82 wrote:I liked the special too. It’s true that it wasn’t really scary. The final part was more action/adventure than horror film, but it still had references to horror movies, especially to Psycho. I missed some of the characters who didn’t appeared in this like Slinky, Hamm or Mrs. Potato, but it makes sense that Bonnie would only take a few toys to a trip like this, and we get to know better some of the other characters.
The following easter eggs have been confirmed by the director in an interview:http://www.hypable.com/2013/10/10/toy-s ... interview/The Pizza Planet truck, for example, is in the motel owner’s calendar of “Iguanas of the Month” beside his computer. In the graveyard scene at the very beginning of the short, all the tombstones belong to dead Pixar characters. Creepy! And of course as is tradition, there is artwork above the motel beds that hint to Pixar’s next film, The Good Dinosaur. There are several other easter eggs hidden in Toy Story of TERROR!, so be sure to keep an eye out when it airs!
And there are more on this page:
http://www.pixarpost.com/2013/10/toysto ... eview.html
But I couldn’t find anything regarding Sid’s cameo, if it is indeed him.
Well, there are some similarities between the two, though the delivery guy looks older to me and they said the events in the special take place only six months after TS3.
thank you! looks like they used his model b/c its the same hair & similar style/color clothes.
I didnt know you could reuse models like that in cgi. Probably another reason they prefer to use cgi instead of handdrawn these days.
Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
You’re welcome! I was curious myself to know if he was Sid too.
Yes, using the same model for different characters is one of the advantages of CGI. I learned about that for the first time in “The Incredibles” making off, where they said they used the same model to make all the extras in the film. Another advantage is that you don’t have to draw the character from scratch each frame, you create the model of the character once and then you only have to move it like a puppet. But there are disadvantages too. Every little object in the background has to be modeled, that’s easier in traditional animation.

Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
So glad this is coming out on Blu-ray. I wasn't able to watch it on TV and I thought I'd never get to see it.
And I love that the Toy Story Toons are going to be on this as well!
Also, Disney sure is getting a lot of my money this August. There's this, and a week before it we're getting Muppets Most Wanted, Hercules, AND Tarzan on Blu-ray. So excited!

But the thing that makes Woody special, is he'll never give up on you... ever. He'll be there for you, no matter what.
Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
Nice. Didnt expect them to go all out on this. They could have easily phoned this one in.
I guess they figure if this is going to be the only thing they release this year it has to be as good as it can be.

Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
what's super strange is it was just released in the UK this past week and included no bonus features at all if I understand correctly
Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
There's no pre-order for Amazon for this yet is there? Searching "Toy Story of Terror Blu-ray" doesn't yield results... but it's happened before where searching for something like that didn't show up (last year, when The Muppet Movie came out on Blu-ray lol).

May have to eventually import this.
I got the UK DVD release but there were no bonus features and I would like the shorts.

Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
It's kind of sad the animation for this is actually worse than the 80s G.I. Joe PSAs that it tries to parody. The bar is already incredibly low.
Re: Toy Story of Terror! (TV Special)
You sure that's not your rose colored glasses talking? It looks just as bad/good as GI Joe to me.
Out of curiosity, have you seen the GI Joe parody on Community? If so, where would you place that?
Me, I never got into GI joe.
