Legends of Oz doesn't seem that bad animation wise. It kinda resembles that recent foreign film about a merry-go-ride and a fluffy dog (name please?)

I believe you're referring to The Magic Roundabout, released in North America as Doogal. It was really horribly recieved by American critics, even moreso than Oz. It was also produced in 2006 so the animation quality is a tad bit more justifiable.

I've never seen it, but I'ver heard really horrible things about it. I'm not sure if the original UK version is decent, but the American dub just ruined it apparently.

^all I know is that Jon Stewart did a voice for it & he would not stop making fun of the film on his show.

So Legends of Oz is a flop. Big whoop! As I said before, this thread about the fate of hand drawn animation. If you want to continue talking about Legends of Oz, do it on Movies, Music, & TV section. Thank you.

Discussing other movies is the only reason this thread retains a presence on the front page. Honestly, the answer to the question posed by the thread title is, simply, "Yes--at least for now." So we could just leave it at that and wait for new developments...

It's not fair that those stupid fickle people ignoring the greatest movie of The Princess & the Frog. Those pathetic executives needs to stop blaming the medium for low box office sales. And I hope Moana will be their last CGI movie. :glare: And after that, get back to hand drawn animation or the ghost of Walt Disney will haunt them every night.

P.S. Walt is not frozen dead, he's cremated. End of story.

I never saw the film but it did review well over here in England as we were familiar with it. The show here was quite big and has a cult status. I used to watch it growing up but it very much shows its age. I still watch Dougal and the Blue Cat.
I've heard that it was reviewed negatively in America because no there gets it and they stuffed it with pop culture references.

And Wade, none of us can give you the answer you want. As Fflewduur has said - yes for now but probably not forever. So please stop posting the same thing again and again. This is becoming relentless obsessive behaviour and you need to put a stop to it for your own mental health and our sanity. Wait for new developments and focus your thoughts elsewhere for now. Yes the lack of news on 2D is saddening but life continues. It isn't the end of the world.

Not that I think you will listen but I am telling you for the good of your health - you need to calm down and stop this constant posting about how you hate 'executives who secretly hate 2D' - they run a company and they have to keep it afloat and for now CGI is the way. You can keep posting but we cannot change the outcome for you. Write an email or letter to Disney explaining how you feel if you haven't already. I don't think it will change anything for now but you will be directing your anger at the correct people and that will surely help you.

Please look after yourself.

I'm going to say this, nicely: No, you're not. If you were really trying, you wouldn't be posting the same things over and over again.

Tswade, I'm not trying to be mean, but I really suggest that you take a healthy break from this site. This site will do nothing, but tempt you to post the same things over and over again. Clear your mind, take your unhealthy obsession out on a punchbag or something, and focus on the help you're getting.

And if you really, really want 2D back, then why not become a 2D animator or something like that? It all depends on you. If you study and work hard, you can be the only who brings back 2D animation. It all depends on this generation. And heck, the 3D Animation classes (Yes, you will have to take them) could help you appreciate 3D more.

And for the FINAL time, 2D animation is not coming back, possibly anytime soon. Yes, it's disappointing. But, it sounds like it isn't Lassenter's fault. It is Bob Iger 's choice. He's trying to run a successful company and sadly he thinks 2D animation is the plague. Until Disney realizes that it was the stories of PATF & WTP and the timing that caused the movies to tank and stop using them as excuses of not doing 2D, nothing will change. And if 2D doesn't come back, ok. It doesn't really matter at all. As long as the movies stay true to Disney's magic ala Frozen/Tangled, it's all good, ok? We can't control that. Now, please: relax, ok?

I'll wait for a new CEO to come who is more understanding for hand drawn animation than Bob Iger.

It may be time for either Wade to go on sabbatical, or just someone temporarily close this thread.

I have no problems with any members here, and I hope it stays that way. But for the sake of healthy discussion, it may be time to end this.

This thread will not be closed just because a single person is terrorizing it. However, the moderation team is well aware of the problem and is currently deliberating over the best possible solution. In the meantime, users who feel frustrated by the situation are reminded of the new "Foes" feature of the board and are encouraged to make use of it. This feature automatically hides the posts of users you specify so you won't be provoked by them. If you continue to engage with TsWade2 then you become part of the problem and you don't get to complain about it anymore.

We don't really know Walt all that well, who knows maybe he's looking down ( or up if he went to hell ??? ) and is enjoying Tangled, Frozen and the upcoming Big Hero 6.

One of Walt's motto's was keep moving forward after all.

Well, with all due respect, I want to see Disney do another hand drawn animated movie. I'm sorry, but I'm not letting that go. I can still go see Big Hero 6 and other Disney movies, but they need to remember that they can't use CGI all the time. I'm just trying to say that with respect.
