- All the text at the top of the Blu-ray ("Diamond edition. Blu-ray + DVD + Digital blablabla something something") ruins the image. Hopefully the Norwegian release will feature less of that annoying text. The image featured on the Blu-ray cover is actually quite lovely, and should not be covered up by unnecessary text.

- Aurora's and Phillip's faces on the DVD should be fixed. If they are, then the DVD cover will actually look decent.

Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorite Disney movies, and my favorite Walt movie, so I will be getting both releases just to collect the artwork. And it's nice to see that the Blu-ray are featuring new bonus material. Hopefully the European releases will feature the same bonus material as the American release...
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

That does appear to be the case. I haven't looked carefully. The only feature I went hunting for on the 50th Anniversary release was the footage from the world premiere, and I didn't find it...but the specs read that it's there, so I probably didn't dig deep enough in the menu.

The 45th Anniversary release was basically a repackaging of the 40th with the inclusion of content to push the Broadway production, and the bulk of the bonus material ported to the 50th is presented in standard definition. (I passed on the 40th because Disney had begun releasing BDs by that time and I already owned the 40th on DVD; content about the stage musical wasn't enough to sell me when I'd already had the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of high resolution restoration & transfer and lossless audio for Sleeping Beauty.)

Even the best of the BD-Platinum and Diamond releases haven't comprehensively compiled all the catalog bonus features. It's not surprising there's an exception that proves the rule--it's only appropriate that exception be what's arguably the single most important feature Walt ever produced.

And here's a list of missing features from previous home media releases:

1993 Exclusive Archive Collection LaserDisc:
--"Jolly Holiday" Storyboards With Corresponding Film Sequences (4:24) - also on 1997 LD
--Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Making Of Mary Poppins (5:17) - also on 1997 LD

2004:
--A Musical Journey with Richard Sherman (20:50, 2004, SD)
--Still Art Galleries: Visual Development (36), Story Development (18), Peter Ellenshaw Paintings (12), Recording Sessions (9), Costumes & Make-Up (35), Behind the Scenes (78), Cast Photos (18), Walt & Friends (9), The Premiere (10), Publicity (17), Memorabilia (21) (263 total, 11 galleries)
--"I Love To Laugh: Set Top Game (interactive)

2009:
--Bob Crowley’s Design Gallery: Introduction from Bob Crowley (0:14), Costume Design (33), Concept Art (13), Set Designs (6), Set Models (16) (68 stills)
--"Step in Time" Download (MP3 format)

In fairness, "A Musical Journey" is included on the disc (by accessing the files directly through BD-ROM), but there's no option to view it from the disc's menus. Ironically, the final minute and a half of the featurette is the deleted song "Chimpanzoo," making the complete documentary's "absence" all the more confusing.

It's the same picture!
If you look at them carefully you can see they are differently drawn versions of almost the same pose, like you can see the curves at the top of her staff in the Blu-ray image but not the DVD one.

Dammit,
Art of Evil: Generations of Disney Villains, Artists in Animation and the deleted scenes sound like pretty good bonus features. I'd still consider it a significant downgrade from what the platinum offered but it makes it all the more tempting.

I keep going back and forth between wanting this and not. I hope the European releases get the new bonus features as then I can hold off on a purchase for a good few years. If its US only, that puts the fear of 'for a limited time only' in me.
Fflewduur wrote: *Every* re-release is another opportunity to consolidate all of the bonus features--but it's never, ever, ever going to happen.
:( I own both the SE and Platinum of SB but it can't and shouldn't be difficult for Disney to carry over bonus features. I don't get why they are so lazy. The bonus features are already made and available.
How long will they be finding all these new never-seen-before deleted scenes?

It's not even the right dress... The dress is a plot point! They spent a good 10 minutes showing the fairies designing and making it in the film....

Hello there, I've been lurking that thread here for a while now and even though I'm not a very active member on these forums, I made some small alternations to the dvd cover (since I'm not that happy with Aurora's and Phillip's faces) and I thought that someone might like it. :)

I'm gonna be honest here despite Aurora's and Phillip's faces, I prefer the dvd cover, I believe it captures the essence of the movie better.

^ Good job. I prefer it to Disney's effort. Aurora's face looks so much better. And her dress is blue!!!

Sleeping Beauty is a movie that has grown on me through the years. I didn't care for it when I saw it initially and I found the film to be tedious and bland and inferior to both "Snow White" and "Cinderella". However, the film has grown on me during the years and I can say that it's one of my favorites.
so I will be getting both releases just to collect the artwork. And it's nice to see that the Blu-ray are featuring new bonus material. Hopefully the European releases will feature the same bonus material as the American release...
I hope so as well. Although I shall confess that I wanted more exciting bonus features. I don't like the new @DisneyAnimation-featurettes, they just seems as generic praise-programs. However, I just hope that the new featurettes will be worth the purchase.

True.

According to the blu-ray.com thread on the same subject, the European release will not have the new bonus features and is just disc 1 repackaged. This might be old news so I wouldn't worry until we get confirmation. Otherwise, here comes the import rush.

Looks like Europe also has the old better artwork (for now) which adds to my woes.

I think we will be getting the old artwork in Belgium and the Netherlands, according to bol.com.

www.DisneyStore.co.uk does also feature the original artwork on their Blu-ray release, and there is no mention of "artwork to be announced" or something like that on it. Also, the spine of the DVD features both Aurora and Phillip and the spine of the Blu-ray has the picture of Aurora.

Oh man, I hope Australia gets the older cover too! We get it in mid August, halfway between the UK and US release. It's hard to tell which version we will be getting, because we get both UK and US releases patterns.
