I've always preferred Aurora's dress in blue, I hope it's been changed officially to blue for the cover art and not just altered by a fan via photoshop or something. I also wonder whether they'll tweak the DVD cover art as well now that they've changed the Blu-Ray...

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I actually kind of like all of these covers, both the peasant girl dress and the blue and the pink dress (the peasant girl dress and the background on that cover seem a bit more sophisticated and original though). It would have been fun if they had decided to release them all, or at least 2 of them, so people could chose their favorite or collect them both/all^^
On a different matter, I'm awaiting news about the upcoming 17" limited edition dolls of Aurora, Maleficent and hopefully Phillip that Disney most certainly will release when Sleeping Beauty comes to Blu-ray/DVD. It would have been cool if they made Aurora and Phillip wear their royal gowns for the 17" limited dolls and their more unformal clothes for the possibly upcoming Disney Fairytale Designer Doll set.

Unfortunately, this was altered by a fan in photoshop, it is not official. I think the DVD cover art will also be updated, because it really needs to be. Aurora's face looks dreadful.universALLove wrote: I've always preferred Aurora's dress in blue, I hope it's been changed officially to blue for the cover art and not just altered by a fan via photoshop or something. Blue looks better. Also Merriweather pasted right in front of her bugs me.

Aurora has always looked best in blue. The only reason Disney puts her in pink is because Cinderella is the bigger star and she has blue copyrighted (yeah yeah, I know it's really silver in the movie, etc. etc.). I'm guessing the fact that pink makes her look more "girly" for lack of a better word probably plays its part, too.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I agree, Aurora has always looked better in Blue, but I think Disney forces her to wear pink because no girl is interested in her.
It's really rare that I hear people talk about Aurora, and you can't really blame them... She's asleep for the majority of the time!
So they make her wear Pink to attract the little girls who love that color.

Seeing how I own the Platinum Blu-ray already, I think I'll just be getting the HD Digital download when it's available.
I'm still pissed that they changed her dress on the cover to make it more "marketable." Pretty much Disney's way of saying "F*** you!" to us.

In all honesty though, if you think about it, its just us that connects the 'Briar Rose' outfit to Aurora; she is always depicted in the blue / pink dress in both Princess marketing and and shots / clips / posters / stills of the film. Therefore, logically, she would be depicted in such attire on the artwork for the home release.
I'm not saying I agree with it, but just to think of it logically really. I'm just still really thrilled they've kept the quite original / different artwork (for Disney at least) at all for the release, rather than the endlessly reused shot of Aurora asleep.
Try to think of it as having Ariel in her human form on any sort of media outside of the Princess marketing … just doesn't happen as she is the little mermaid of the title.
And reading this back it looks like I'm now defending Disney Home Entertainment (which I sure as heck am not a supporter of), just to look at the artwork differently is all, and to be quite happy in essence of what we've actually got!

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I'm likely not upgrading. No interest in a HD digital download. My phone battery barely lasts a day so I'm not going to be watching films on it. New bonus features would likely tempt me but if not, the platinum was a fantastic release and I won't be flogging it anyhow.
Merriweather is a problem. She blends into the dress. I'd say swap her for Flora but she would still blend into the background.
The peasant dress would have been a ballsy move on Disney's half (as ballsy as they can get), It is a cover much more targeted at adults/collectors and not soccer mums.

I'll 'have' to purchase this version as I only have the DVD 50th Anniversary Edition, due to leaving the bluray (I upgraded most of my Disney movies when I got a player) at an old boyfriends house sadly. And he wasn't willing to give it back as he is an awful person (
) …. so will pick up this version for the bluray goodness, and still keep the DVD as well.

Re: Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray - 2014
I'm likely to be moving in with my boyfriend soon. I'm planning to keep all my Disney's separate. Not that I think he'd want them anyway (he's lovely) but it would hurt me if I lost any. I don't lend them for that reason - doesn't matter how much I love you.
I'm sorry your ex was a d*ck Atlantica
Maybe you can sweet talk someone into getting you the platinum blu as well? It will likely start re-appearing when the new one comes out.

Aww thank you very much guys for your kindness....he truly truly was a jerk and an awful person.
That is a good idea though Meerkat, I can have a look at prices of it over on Amazon I guess.

I'm probably going to be bashed for this, but I prefer Aurora in pink. I've always thought blonde girls looked better in pink. And pink used to be my favorite color.

I prefer the pink dress, too.
The blue dress is not right for this cover because it blends into the background and into Merryweather.

That's true, because the cover is made with the pink dress in mind. She still looks better in blue.bruno_wbt wrote: The blue dress is not right for this cover because it blends into the background and into Merryweather.

As the live action version has Aurora in her blue dress, it is odd that she's been swapped to pink for the cover here, especially as it's being released as a direct tie-in to the film.
I know pink is for Princesses, but for movie cohesion …
