Yes, it was. I liked the music and it was nice that some of the dialogue was exactly the same from the 1959 classic.Old Fish Tale wrote:That audio clip was really lovely!

technically the images on my site are higher quality. more than twice the resolution in many cases. it just so happens that there is a new batch of 9 or so that I don't have yet. I do wait until I get them from Disney.

If Disney gives me high res, they're often upwards of 20MP but the filesize is too big, so I often try to lower them to 3500px on the longest side. Sometimes I go lower if the filesize requires it. But generally speaking, most are actually scaled down from what I'm originally given.

BTW: Is the audio that I posted the same dialogue as the novelization?

I'm not really going to listen/read along, one is a novelization so I expect key phrases to be the same but not everything to be exact. As I said, there was only one _small_ difference between the scene and the novelizations that I noticed:
In the novelization, Thistlewit pauses and stammers when bestowing her gift (because she didn't practice like the others) before Maleficent appears. In the movie, there is no pausing, Maleficent just interrupts her, which is closer to the animated film with what happens with Merryweather.

Thanks. I can't wait to see how different the movie is compared to the leaked script.bradk wrote:I'm not really going to listen/read along, one is a novelization so I expect key phrases to be the same but not everything to be exact. Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion
I just had a really interesting thought...tell me what you guys think.
When applying the curse to Aurora at the christening scene Maleficent says: "The princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty...loved by all who meet her" You could argue that this is the reason that Maleficent ends up loving Aurora because part of Maleficent's "gift" was that she would be loved by all who met her. So you could say that Mal inadvertently cursed herself to love Aurora when she met and began to really know her. This could offer an explanation to Maleficent's sudden change of heart when she meets Aurora and ends up loving her...its because the curse made it happen Just something interesting to think about...what are you guys opinion?
Edit: Also! You may ask...why didnt this happen in the original Sleeping Beauty? Because if you remember, Mal and Aurora never actually meet in the original Sleeping Beauty.

But Maleficent did know of Aurora in the original Sleeping Beauty and still had a form of hatred for her. She was so fixated on wanting to carry the curse.

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion
She knew who she was yes, but after the christening scene she never actually meets her or has any kind of communication with her. She spends the next 16 years looking for her because the fairies and Stephan have hidden her away and its only when she finally discovers where she has been hiding she turns into the will-o-wisp which hypnotizes Aurora into pricking her finger on the spinning wheel. By the time Aurora wakes up Mal is dead....so no, she never has any contact with her again after the curse scene. And from what I have gathered from the new movie Mal does hate Aurora for a time until she "meets" her as a teenager and it is then that she begins to feel love for herDisneyJedi wrote:But Maleficent did know of Aurora in the original Sleeping Beauty and still had a form of hatred for her. Wow, I love that point of view AcCooper20 !!
Never even considered that before; would be a nice twist …. if she became a victim of her own spell!

Re: Maleficent (2014): Official Discussion
Let me contribute to this "Malificient loves Aurora" discussion: Remember, the curse is only to spite Stephen according most interpretations. No where in the narrative says she hates Aurora. To be honest, this villain and protagonist admiration arch is much more interesting than the evil ex-girlfriend treatment. I still have the OZ:GaP image in my mind. It just ruined the Oz witches for me.Someone please help
.
Btw: I am not censoring the "Malificient loves Aurora" since it is only based on my knowledge of the original fairy-tale
So far, Malificent seems like a mush of Wicked and Oz:tGaP. I am far more interested in Malificent and Aurora's arch.
But someone please explain how Prince Philip fits in? Just looking at the trailer makes me think his kiss may fail.

I agree with that.Atlantica wrote:Wow, I love that point of view AcCooper20 !!

As much as I really liked Oz: The Great and Powerful, the reason of Theodora becoming the Wicked Witch of the West is a bit underdone and could've been thought out better and it seems like Maleficent will do a better job. As to how Phillip will fit in with all of this is still speculation at this point (I'm taking both novelizations with a grain of salt) and we'll just wait and see if it still works or not. I think that we can all agree at this point that since the month of May has begun, we should hear from people who have seen early screenings of this movie.Candy-Bonita95 wrote:Let me contribute to this "Malificient loves Aurora" discussion: Remember, the curse is only to spite Stephen according most interpretations.
