I, like most people, don´t understand the lazy BD releases Disney has done.
It is bad enough that they don´t make new extras (or at least quality ones) but to not even port the extras of previous releases is beyond comprehension.
Especially painful is to see lost the incredible extras for movies like Dinosaur, Tarzan, The Emperor´s New Groove and Atlantis.
If these extras were already produced, why not port them instead of loosing them?
Any ideas?
Reason why Disney doesn´t port the DVD extras to BD?

Isn't there an iPad/ iPhone app for Disney Animation? The one where there was a rough animation for the Marshmallow chase scene from Frozen? And plus a lot of other stuff for all the Disney movies? So I guess Disney doesn't want to be superfluous.
(Which reminds me, Big Hero 6 will eventually be added with something bonus...)

One word: money.

Plus they think it's easy to get away with cheaping out because they're in more of the minor leagues of Disney material, though Emperor deserved so much better.

This probably isn't the case for everything, but I think I heard they don't actually own the rights to some of them. I guess they outsource some of these featurettes and would have to negotiate a new deal to put them on a new format, in and they must not feel its worth the trouble. But I could have this wrong.

The worst thing is that they doesn't even port all the extras of the dvd releases, but not always from the Laserdisc releases as well.

I bet theyll eventually show up in future super duper expensive collectors sets once everyone has switched to digital streaming & theyll need a new way to make money off the more diehard fans...

As much as I dream of super duper, super shiny, complete collectors edition...unprincess wrote:I bet theyll eventually show up in future super duper expensive collectors sets once everyone has switched to digital streaming & theyll need a new way to make money off the more diehard fans...
part of me hopes they don't (I know, I know).
I couldn't afford them and that would make me a sad panda.
It's also looking more unlikely with every year they downgrade the quality of their releases. I don't see them suddenly deciding to go all out because they know us die hard fans will buy their releases regardless.
I own some of these films four times. I know others here can probably double/triple that number.
