Overall, this person totally missed the point of his character. Of course, he’s not this big, glamorous baddy. He was supposed to act so sweet and good and then be this huge despicable guy at then end. BECAUSE THAT’S HOW IT GOES IN REAL LIFE

I find myself in agreement with nearly everything Luke wrote in his Frozen Blu-ray Review. It articulated so much of what I've been feeling since seeing the film in theaters, but, frankly, have been intimidated to post on here due to the overwhelming support and adoration of the movie. Don't want to rain on anybody's parade. But, yeah, I was left very cold by the movie. It's a mess from a storytelling standpoint, barely at the level of competency that even Tangled was, and I had my problems with Tangled. Also: is it just me, or is it a really UGLY film from a character animation standpoint? These look like marshmallows when looking at screen-grabs. I mean, just put any shot of Elsa or Anna or Hans up next to Pinocchio, Captain Hook, Hercules or, hell, even Wreck-It Ralph, Kung-Fu Panda or any of the humans in Ratatouille or Up... And they look really unappealing. It isn't a, "To hell with CG!" thing, either. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Also: agree with EVERYTHING in that Hans link above. I said earlier in this thread after seeing the film for the first time how I felt about the character. I won't repeat those thoughts here.

I like Hans as a character, but think he could have been a better villain if they had given him more backstory, but it seems they were really into the whole idea of the shock twist. That drove them to portray Hans the way they did. The twist wont work if they show his backsory first or have him sing a villain song or he gets a sinister intro that would obviously give it away.

Now for the sequel they can go ahead & make him a more classic villain...however I dont think he should get redemption. You cant just toss away attempted murder. And it wasnt murder b/c he had no choice or he was reluctant to do it or he was misguided, he had no problem/remorse whatsoever offing the girls.

the closest thing to a redemption he could get without seeming contrived is a situation Ive often seen in anime & other tv/films, where villain A(Hans) teams up with villain B but vB betrays vA & vA teams up with the heroes to defeat vB but in doing so will result in his(vA) demise(which he may or may not be aware of.)

They've unlocked the secret and are exploiting our riches!
I was kinda thinking they would release a 3D Blu in the US in time for the holidays but I didn't it would be likely. If there are any new extras, I'll gladly double dip (and I just got the Target exclusive in the mail today!).

About Hans: My anti-Disney brother just saw Frozen. He liked it, but thought the Hans twist was so obvious. And he thought the characters were undeveloped.

Yes.

I wouldn't want to see Hans redeemed. (But I wouldn't want to see Hans again at all, so... :P )

A really nice fan-made animation of a DYWBAS Reprise. Really nice lyrics too- I love "the storm inside me won". We see a much clearer distinction of Elsa's growth with that line. I like this much better than the scene we ended up with.

Jennifer Lee has said that the reason she didn't do a reprise was because it would be "too much". But honestly, disney movies are allowed to be overly dramatic and emotional in this way. Additionally, everything leading up to this moment (ice sculpture, dramatic last breath from anna) is really overly dramatic, and we know what is going to happen but we have to sit through 10 seconds of silence before we see anna begin to thaw, and its just really missing emotion at what should be one of the most emotional moments of the film.. There are parts of frozen I wish were cut (Fixer Upper) But this was the only thing i think could've been done in a much better, more powerful way.

Yeah, if they put a villian song on the soundtrack too many people would complain that it would've of spoiled everything, even though most people read the leaked script, and coloring book spoilers.

As mentioned before, yeah most people do want to know his backstory. But I think that they pushed away showing us Kristoff's and Hans' story, because it would've showed too much focus and attention on them, and not the two sisters. Even though Olaf gets alot of attention and merch but whatever

However for Frozen 2, they can do this. They can show us what happened to Kristoff's parents and why he's a orphan, and what Hans' brothers were like and who they are.

Just give Elsa a note at the beginning of Frozen 2 saying that Hans has been hanged or beheaded. Not many people like him or want him back, so ehhh.

bugger you all

I think we got the superior ending.

I loved the silence. It let you hear how the rest of the audience reacting. I heard sniffles, tears and people whispering "he can still kiss her!". My mum and sister even thought Elsa was going to kiss her. It was a serious moment to many in the theatre. I can't help but feel some of that seriousness would've been lost with singing, no matter how emotional it is. I just don't buy the first response to someone dying is to sing - even in a musical.

The lack of singing also makes it clear it was Anna who saved herself. Not Elsa through her song.

Big kudos to the fans that made that though, it was amazing, and the film would've been great with it too.

Well, I think that song would have made the ending a little better mostly because Anna would have stayed frozen longer than she did.

Has this been posted yet?
Corroborating the report about the October launch of the 3D Blu, the Edelweiss book catalog has the following listings for the books Elsa's Gift and Frozen Sing-Along Storybook:

http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.co...sku=148471699X
http://edelweiss.abovethetreeline.co...sku=1484720350

You'll notice under "Key Selling Points" to the right:
Quote:
SUPER SYNERGY: Frozen will have extensive company-wide marketing leading up to the October 2014 3-D DVD/BluRay release. There will be support for Frozen across consumer product divisions, including videogames, electronics, toys, apparel, stationery, and home furnishings.
Clearly wasn't meant to go public just yet, since among the other key selling points is that the movie has already made $400 million domestically, which it probably won't do until March 23rd, give or take.

Dunno if anyone's planning on getting the Target edition of the Blu-Ray, but my local Target only had a few copies left. TONS of Frozen copies (including a nice display near the registers), but not many with the "Target Exclusive" sticker on it. It was nice walking around the area hearing one woman tell her friend "Is that Frozen!? Can you grab me the Blu-Ray?" and seeing how many people were around the standee grabbing their copies. I normally feel like a total weirdo 'cuz I'm usually the only one...

Does anybody else think "The Making of Frozen" is pure crap? Where are the REAL bonus features for the "collector's edition" I bought? I want more than "Let it Go" in five languages.

While watching the Blu-ray version it looked like Elsa's dress tore which exposed her legs to the cold.
