Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
It's 'Favorite Song from a movie" week on "American Idol" and this could spell doom for a couple of those "indie" rockers on the roster of talent this season. Each contestant will pick a song from a movie and perform it before the live audience this Wednesday night, March 12.
Can see a couple of the singers that are going to have some problems with this theme.
Hope I am wrong, but I have been pretty close to who's going home each week.

It's too bad there aren't any big voices this year--I'd love to see someone take on "Let It Go" properly. It might still get covered (I'm thinking M.K. might pick this), but won't get any justice.
Either way, I'm glad to see that theme return.

1. Caleb Johnson
2. Alex Preston
3. CJ
4. Jena Irene
5. M.K. Nobilette
6. Jessica Meuse
7. Dexter Roberts
8. Ben
9. Majesty
10. Malaya
Loved the first five on this ranking, the bottom 5 ranged from average to awful. Best performances so far this time. Loved Caleb’s “Skyfall.” He’s been the most on-point vocally the entire season (and the best stage presence), but he usually picks songs I’ve never heard and don’t care for. Finally stood out. I don’t particularly like Alex, and I don’t think this is the best performance of “Falling Slowly” there’s been on the show, but I thought it was pretty good. His voice just sounds whiny sometimes in his lower notes. Love M.K. and this has been the best she’s done so far, but she has no stage presence. Jena did great, just don’t care for the song. I didn't see Sam's performance, but read he did "Come Together," and I'm so sick of that song that I'm glad I missed it.
If there was any justice, Ben would be gone. Instead, I think it’ll be either Malaya, M.K. and either Majesty or Jena. If Majesty or M.K. are eliminated, I believe they’ll be Saved.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
We got our wish on the Results show last night as Ben Briley was sent home. I haven't liked this guy since the auditions, and am wondering how it took so long to unload him.
MK is slowly growing on me. I think that she is slowly recognizing the fact that singing in front of people is not the hardest thing. She really is beginning to blossom, in the words of Harry Connick Jr. and show all of us what she can do with her voice. Hope she is around for a couple more weeks.

Woah Divinity, I don't agree with you about Malaya's performance on "I Am Changing" but I do agree with you about Majesty's bad performance of "Let it Go" and Caleb's amazing rendition of "Skyfall". Sam needs to go now, I am getting really sick of seeing him. His performance of "Come Together" was terrible beyond redemption.....Disney's Divinity wrote:1. Caleb Johnson

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
^Yeah, I wanna like Malaya since she seems nice, but the past few performances she was just off to me. And it was magnified by the fact that she was singing a performance Jennifer Hudson similarly gave in Dreamgirls. I did like her much better this week--it's definitely the best she's been vocally (although I still liked "Take Me to the King" better).
How I'd rank them this week:
1. Jena
2. Sam
3. Malaya
4. Majesty
5. CJ
6. Alex
7. Caleb
8. Dexter
9. Jessica
10. MK
Caleb's voice reminds me so much of David Cook. I thought he would do well with "The Edge of Glory" when I read he was singing it, but he changed it too much. I don't think anybody was great tonight, but Jena's was my favorite. I liked the others before Caleb on this list, but not wowed. Dexter is a better singer than Scotty McCreery, but I'm just not crazy about him. Jessica's voice was way too warbly. I thought MK, like with Caleb, would sound great on "Perfect," but she was so dead on stage. Plus, the mirror thing reminds me of when Michelle Chamuel did it on The Voice a year ago.
So relieved Ben is gone. Now if we can just get rid of Dexter, I won't really mind who wins.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
Totally agree and disagree at the same time with "Divinity". Dexter is no way in the same class as Scotty McCreery, and if you like him so well, why do you want him to be cut so soon. Sam is the worst of the Top Ten followed closely by MK, CJ, Jessica, and Jena.
There was no life to what MK brought to the stage, and that mirror thing has been so many times before and on other shows also. Jena was very weak, and is a little too chubby to be wearing the outfit she was wearing last night. Caleb was out of his realm doing a Lady Gaga song, but pulled it off fairly well.
My pick for the bottom three: CJ, MK, and Sam. Who goes home: Sam

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
Scotty McCreery was, is, and always will be a complete joke. Male country singers, in general, are not good singers, but at least Dexter is more in line with what they sound like, versus Scotty forever trying (and failing) to ape Josh Turner, whose voice and career is leagues ahead of that trainwreck. I'm glad that the other country singer that won this show (Carrie Underwood) wasn't such a disgrace to country music.dvdjunkie wrote:Dexter is no way in the same class as Scotty McCreery, and if you like him so well, why do you want him to be cut so soon.
Oh, an an article ranking the American Idol winners by money:
http://www.therichest.com/expensive-lif ... aign=OT-US
Interesting to see all the female winners (except last year's) at the top of the list. If Phillip Phillips can repeat the success of his first album, he'll probably get to third eventually if Jordin's label doesn't let her release another album soon.

Malaya did great and I do agree that Dexter is on my "meh" level but CJ to me, was AWFUL, singing flat all the way through really made me cringe and putting him on the bottom of the list. Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I will still totally disagree with Disney Divinity, when it comes to Scotty McCreery. His two albums are really good and nowhere does he try to imitate Josh Turner. You have all your ears turned to deaf when it comes to good singers.
That being said, MK was sent home last night - no big loss, was surprised to see Majesty and Dexter in the bottom three.
So far, and I emphasize so far, the music choices have been pretty good for some of the contestants, and not so good for others. Let's see what next week brings.
And I really think that Jennifer Lopez has had her 15 minutes of fame, and needs to put a few more clothes on. Did not like that song at all, but that's just me and my age speaking.

Mostly average night, Caleb came the closest to wowing. Alex sounded okay, but kind of lacked some of the power that "Don't Speak" needs. I thought Malaya did well again, but not perfect; I agree with Connick, Jr. that she's definitely the most improved. Majesty has easily become worse as time goes on. She has good strange presence, but no awareness of what her range is limited to. Everyone else was blah for me. I'm guessing either Majesty or CJ go home, possibly Dexter (although I think being in the bottom last week might make his fans vote to keep him that from happening again).
The results show will be only 30 minutes from now on, I believe. That's something that hasn't happened in a long time, but I'm glad.

Someone check the temperature in hell, because I agree with everything that 'DisneyDivinity' says. I think that CJ has been given enough time to improve, but his nerves just get a hold of him on that stage.
The 30 minute results show is something that will be a blessing in disguise. No more wasted time toying with the audience, and I welcome it with open arms.

Not sure who will go home this week; Jena and Sam were the only ones I liked, although Jessica, Alex, and Caleb did well for what their sound is, I guess. I'm thinking it's between CJ and Dexter to go (and don't care which goes first, although I hope it's Dexter). Malaya could also go; she wasn't as good as the past two weeks so it might finally be her turn. I wouldn't be surprised by a Sam surprise boot either, even though I thought he did good tonight--his audition was what made me like him, but he hasn't lived up to it since. He has a pretty voice though, and I'm sure the judges would save him. Harry would probably save Malaya, too.
Tbh, the only reason I think CJ and Malaya have lasted this long is they have very nice personalities.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
Okay, it's one of those weeks where I wonder what show you were watching DD. Alex was horrible, Jessica showed the power in her voice for the first time this season, and may have saved herself from the cut.
Don't understand why everyone likes 'pretty boy' Sam, I think he is getting by because he is "cute" and not talented in any way at all. Dexter has worn out his welcome, and CJ is not improving as fast as he should at this stage of the game.
Jena is one of those artists I can listen to, but I can't watch. I think she might be a surprise bottom three person tonight.
Caleb showed once again that he is a one-trick pony, and was cautioned by the judges that he needs to show his softer side, if he has one.
Hard to pick a bottom three, but I would like to see Alex, Dexter and Sam in the bottom three and would be happy if either of them were sent home. Don't think the judges would use their save for either of these three.
Tonight's results show should be pretty good as Chris Daughtry makes a return visit to the "Idol" stage.

I'm glad they saved Sam. The reaction of the other contestants was hilarious.
I believe two people get eliminated next week as a result? I'm guessing Sam will be safe next week, but he might be eliminated for good the week after that.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
I, personally, thought it was a waste of a "Save" for the judges to keep Sam last night!
Just because the girls scream because he is cute, doesn't mean he is talented. I think that he is this season's "Sanjaya", if you remember that debacle from several years back.
They should have let Sam go home last night, and use their save for someone who is more talented and might get less votes.
This looks like a "Phillip Phillips" rendition of "Idol" from a couple of seasons back. I will boycott American Idol if Sam wins this thing. I am now believing the things I read on the internet about the goings on behind the scenes of "Idol" and I don't like what I am seeing.
Let's see what happens next week, when they vote two people off, and Sam is one of them. The judges will realize that they wasted their vote.

Re: "American Idol" Season 13 official discussion...........
To me, Sam is a throwback to David Cook and Kris Allen, when the white guys actually had nice voices. He just needs to perform stronger, because his voice is easily the best this year. I wonder if he can ride the momentum of it like Jessica Sanchez.
If anyone is this year's Sanjaya, it's probably CJ. Somebody who sounds awful, but keeps getting votes because he's nice.
