Although I have 2 iTunes accounts- one that I share with the family, which I used to obtain my account on the computer, and a personal for my phone, which the app rejected.
Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Share your ideas!
Okay wait. You're talking about doing this on your computer, correct? There's no app to download. All you do is sign in to your iTunes account, and it links them. You don't have to add your DMR info to anything, it should already be there because you sign in using your Disney account.Avaitor wrote:The thing is, I logged on, and I still don't have The Incredibles or my account synched to my iTunes. Bit of a rant, not bringing the program down, but:
DAMN YOU DISNEY FOR BEING GREEDY EVEN FURTHER!!! I say this because it's actually more expensive and limited than Ultraviolet. I like ITunes, but have you seen the prices Disney charges on their content there? The value of digital media is less than the physical media combo packs... For the same price. Along with that, only disney blu-rays/DVDs which have a digital copy redemption in the DMR codes only receive a free HD digital copy. Copies that don't have digital copy included- well, guess I'm screwed big time. It's a good application that's easier to use than UV, but at the same time, it's a financial headache. They won't even make a disc-to-digital program for those who have blus/DVDs w/ no digital copies included. Nor phones or Tablets outside of Apple. ... Limited indeed.
But the nice thing about this program is that it carries movies from DMA to ITunes. No need to always use DMA that much. And in HD. ... You got a bit lucky there, Disney.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Share your ideas!
That's a load of bull. The digital copies of Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid that I redeemed through iTunes are freaking HD. But the digital copy of MI that I redeemed was SD (which I redeemed from the 2009 Blu-ray collector's edition pack, btw).SWillie! wrote:This actually has to do with the way you purchased the films. If you didn't buy them in HD through iTunes, or if the digital copy came that came with your blu-ray wasn't a Digital Copy HD (Mermaid and Poppins came with SD Digital Copies), then the copy that plays in Disney Movies Anywhere won't be HD.DisneyJedi wrote:Okay.... the app is excellent, but far from perfect. Why? Because I tested out Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid and they didn't use their new HD masters. So far, the only one that apparently does so is Monsters, Inc. for me.
What the fruitcake is Disney's logic?!

I'm from Brazil, so I was not expecting to test this any time soon. However, I did a little bit of trickery to acess the service and won The Incredibles.
Even though I wasn't able to watch it on the website, it started downloading on my iTunes - with iTunes Extras and all - I guess it's a great idea.
It's a shame Disney Brasil will never do anything like that.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Share your ideas!
Supposedly there will be a disc-to-digital program on the future, just as they did for Disney Movies Online. For any code you've entered that didn't include a digital copy, you will be able to pay a small fee to upgrade to a digital copy.
DisneyJedi, I guess I didn't know what I was talking about. Sorry about that.

Would be nice. ... wait, Disney did this program before, with codes of DMR w/o digital copy? ... well, they better bring it back then! I gots a lot of films that could be used to back up in digital-only form... without paying so many hundreds of dollars for these films again. What were they, 5 dollars for HD copy if it came from, say, DVD? (if it's the same or a bit higher for Blu-ray discs, I wouldn't be surprised.)SWillie! wrote:Supposedly there will be a disc-to-digital program on the future, just as they did for Disney Movies Online. Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I didn't use the program myself, but according to RyGuy on the last page, it was about 5.99. If we could pay 5 bucks to upgrade all these titles, I'd be all in. I'd upgrade a bunch of them.
There seems to be a lot of reviews complaining about it being limited to Apple... which *for now* is the case, but they've made it clear that they plan on working with other account types and operating systems in the future. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it expands.

Yeah, under Disney Movies Online, you could email information from your DVD and they'd add it to your account so you could buy the digital version for $5.99. Even for titles that were out of print.disneyftw1 wrote:Would be nice. ... wait, Disney did this program before, with codes of DMR w/o digital copy? ... well, they better bring it back then! Well done RyGuy!! Wish I knew about the DMO service and upgraded as well...RyGuy wrote:This is sweet! I was a heavy user of Disney Movies Online . . . I upgraded a bunch of titles I had on DVD/Blu-Ray to DMO (paid the $5.99 or so for each of them) and I was kind of pissed when they shuttered the service. They gave me a check refunding all of the fees I'd paid. It was about $150 (yeah, I had upgraded a lot of titles).
So when I signed into this new service, guess what? All of those movies I'd bought were all there! Even old ones like Aladdin. I am beyond stunned. I figured unless I had the movie in my iTunes account currently, I'd be out of luck or would have to re-buy the digital rights or wait until the Blu-Ray releases with the digital copy.
And, they even imported all of the movies I have in Amazon Instant Video (or at least the ones I put there when I entered a code, but not the ones I purchased).
Well done, Disney. Today, you can color me impressed!

SWillie, was it mentioned anywhere that there are in fact plans for a disc-to-digital program? I'm getting my hopes up here...SWillie! wrote:Supposedly there will be a disc-to-digital program on the future, just as they did for Disney Movies Online. The app is very well done and the whole concept of the service is excellent. But except for the HD upgrades they haven't really given us anything else. We already owned all of these digital copies whether we redeemed them from their combo packs or bought directly from the iTunes store. A disc-to-digital program is a must, and the fee has to be reasonable.
A good idea would be to offer them in exchange to DMR points. I have never used DMR before. I have over 100 US releases for which I haven't redeemed the DMR points for. I do have a peek on the website from time to time to see what rewards are being offered, but I have yet to find something I'd be remotely interested in. On the other hand, there are lots of people who couldn't care less about digital copies and even complain about having them forced upon the physical releases, so the best way would be to give us the choice and offer digital copies for all the discs we own as rewards.
Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
Disney hasn't said anything yet regarding a digital upgrading service, but Stitch Kingdom said he's heard it's supposed to be coming. I trust him.
As for cover art - I would suggest sending Disney feedback telling them that you'd like to be able to choose between different options for cover art. (I personally would definitely choose the platinum covers over the Diamond covers in most cases.) They've created a very simple feedback page just for Disney Movies Anywhere - at the bottom of the site, go to Contact, choose a category and give your suggestions/appreciation/criticism. I'd encourage everyone to do this, as surely the more voices they hear the more likely they'll listen. Also mention that you'd like to see a category for Walt Disney Animation Studios, the way Pixar has a category!

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
That's a great question and one of the first things I thought of when I saw the titles were in my DMA account. But from what I can see (so far) they appear only in my DMA account.stevemcqueen wrote: Well done RyGuy!! I'm not convinced they've worked out all the bugs. For some reason, Captain American in my iTunes account did not port over. I've sent a message to DMA to see if they can figure out why.

I have contacted them too, because my original "Fantasia" copy which I have purchased directly on the iTunes Store back in 2010 did not port over. "Fantasia 2000" however, did.

Because the whole point of linking the accounts is to have everything in sync, both on the iTunes account and the DMA account, I was going to suggest that maybe you should contact them about not having the DMO titles on iTunes, but seeing as this might be just an error on their part maybe it's best to keep quiet or you might end up losing them on the DMA account as well...

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I'm sure there's still plenty of bugs to be found. A TON of people in the App Store are complaining that they simply aren't able to sync it to their iTunes account. I'm sure they'll be pushing out updates regularly. It has already updated once since it was released.

I've gone to the Disney movies anywhere website and I can't sign in. I've been there threw DMR and I went there directly but it just doesn't work. It keeps telling me I have the wrong password. I even changed it, used it at DMR and it still won't let me log in to DMA. Hrumph!

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Share your ideas!
I don't disagree. I feel that one major flaw with digital is the cost of the content. Unlike physical media as well, there are no "used copies" to buy for less. Hopefully, Disney drops their prices, especially for older titles, but knowing them, I bet they don't. I'm also sad that (with very minor exception) nothing on their list is anything that you can't just buy on DVD or Blu-ray. This would be the perfect chance for Disney to release more obscure titles, but so far it's mostly same-old, same-old.disneyftw1 wrote:Bit of a rant, not bringing the program down, but:

Since I found out that you can burn film from iTunes onto a disc (I'm just not ok not having my titles not on a disc), I've thought about picking up titles that have not been released on DVD or Blu-ray, but the cost has been keeping me from doing that and none of the shows or films I'd want have been released that way anyway yet.

Re: Disney Movies Anywhere - Available now!
I agree that the cost of digital films is too high. With DMA, the value is at least increased with the bonus features, but 20 bucks for films like Treasure Planet or Great Mouse Detective is just too high for me. At 15, I would consider. At 10 I would bite. That's why I'm hoping the disc to digital service happens soon, as it's a best of both worlds.

I checked my iTunes library today and indeed all of my digital copies redeemed through Amazon Instant Video (Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, Mickeys Christmas Carol) are now there (except for those I bought directly from Amazon Instant Video).
Those I upgraded in the old DMO environment (Aladdin, Mulan, Pocahontas, Emperor's New Groove, Tarzan, Toy Story 3, Lion King, Nightmare Before Christmas) are not.
We'll see if that changes, but I'm not holding my breath.
