'Frozen' Earns Most Weeks At No. 1 For A Soundtrack Since 'Titanic'
Disney's unstoppable soundtrack to "Frozen" returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, collecting its fifth nonconsecutive week atop the list.
"Frozen" has now earned the most weeks at No. 1 for a soundtrack since "Titanic" racked up 16 straight weeks at No. 1 in 1998. It ruled the list on the charts dated Jan. 24 through May 9 that year.
This week's Billboard 200 reflects the tracking week ending Feb. 23, where the "Frozen" album sold 89,000 copies (down 11%), according to Nielsen SoundScan. A week ago, it was No. 2 with 100,000.

It's neat that the soundtrack is as commercially succesful as the movie.

Ok.. After seeing this video, I could care less about Let it Go winning the Oscar.RayCRP wrote:In case anyone missed it, Good Morning America hosted a massive "Let It Go" sing-along this morning. The video can be viewed here:

When was the last time a Disney song has impacted the media as much as Let It Go? Colors of the Wind?
It's unbelievable. I was just sitting in Awe going "Good Job Disney, this truly a phenomena now "
And.. am I the only who wants the three main singers to sing a version without everyone else singing? They sounded really good.
And congrats to the soundtrack for breaking records!!
As for the oscars, I read this on Collider, they're predicting who is going to win:
Read more at http://collider.com/oscar-predictions-2 ... mGkBU2P.99An upset almost seems likely here, but I’m going with my gut and saying Idina Menzel’s pipes will be too magnificent to resist, leading “Let It Go” to take the win and co-songwriter Robert Lopez to join the EGOT club.
Will Win: “Let It Go” – Frozen
Dark Horse: “Ordinary Love” – Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
Should Win: “Let It Go” – Frozen

You do realize Good Morning America airs on ABC right? Disney was pulling that string. Wake me up when Tibetan monks are singing it.taei wrote:Ok.. But what about all the youtube stuff?
I wasn't in the tangled craze, but was "I see the light" this popular?

Re: Frozen: Part V
I think it's both fair and accurate to say Let it Go has taken on a life of its own and has become a phenomena, but also just as fair to say that Disney is certainly milking it for all it's worth and orchestrating events to display its impact, and make it appear to be even more so.
The Good Morning America thing was interesting. While I thought it was fun, it was also clearly a promo for the digital release copy, just as much a celebration of the song's success. It was super smart for them to launch Disney Movies Anywhere on the same release day to entice people to download the app. Disney sure seems more gung ho about getting everyone to switch over to digital media, more so than any other studio seems to care.

Yeah, while this was cute and beautiful, but the GMA stunt was also WAAAAAAAYY over the top in my opinon. I get that it's for the Oscars, but it seems like they're shoving this down our throats.

Oh please. Every network pimps their crap, and Bono is campaigning HARD for the Oscar which would be another bland forgettable win in that category. It's nice to see some "Let It Go" love because it very well may not win.

Speaking of the Titanic, I heard on online that some of the men that Jack gambles with to try and win and ticket to the Titanic are called Olaf & Sven
Not sure, if real, but if so, it would be pretty awesome.
most overrated song since Timon & Pumbaa's duet But it's nice that this song, is bringing people together, despite age, gender and race. It's really peaceful.

Usually, when I think of Olaf and Sven, I'm reminded of Rose Nylund's hometown (St. Olaf, Minnesota) and her cousin who fell in love with Blanche (Sven).

one of the gamblers was named sven, as one of the bunkmates on the ship asks his friend "wheres sven?" not sure on olaf. would have to watch the credits, where he likely wouldnt be named anyway.
the local radio station is playing demi's version 3 or 4 times a day. havent heard a disney song that much since colors of the wind, and before that, can you feel the love tonight.

One of the big local radio stations here actually played Idina's Let it Go the day before yesterday in between Lorde and Pitbull/Ke$ia …in the peak driving hour of 5:00pmsunhuntin wrote:one of the gamblers was named sven, as one of the bunkmates on the ship asks his friend "wheres sven?" not sure on olaf. would have to watch the credits, where he likely wouldnt be named anyway.

Not sure if anyone else caught the "Let It Go" segment on Nightline yesterday, but it seemed like a slap in the face to adult fans. They suggested you'll likely have heard the song "if you have children under the age of 12," that Bobby and Kristen are "most to blame" and "responsible" for the "inescapable" song (even asking them "How do you sleep at night?"), and the VO couldn't even get Idina's name right. Oh, and let's spoil the ending for those who haven't seen it yet. For a Disney-owned program, I was quite shocked.

And this is off-topic, but of interest to many of you, I'm sure: not only does the Disney Movies Anywhere app give you a free copy of The Incredibles both in the app and in the iTunes Store, but all previous Disney Digital Copies are now upgradable to "HD" by going to your "Purchased" section in the store and downloading from iTunes in the Cloud. To my knowledge, even the launch of iTunes in the Cloud still only allowed SD downloads of Digital Copy versions of Disney movies prior to The Little Mermaid, but I'm currently now downloading the "HD" versions of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, Brave, Tron: Legacy, and Marvel's The Avengers.

Re: Frozen: Part V
So, I did a little experiment and saw that in the past thirteen years, the Oscars and Golden Globes most disagreed on the Best Director and Best Original Song categories, eight times each. That's about 62%. I think we're overestimating the chances of Ordinary Love winning, especially when looking at Bono's number of Oscar nominations vs Golden Globe nominations, it's obvious the Academy doesn't care much for him. They gave Eminem the Oscar over U2, after all (the first time a rap won the award, no less).

Re: Frozen: Part V
That is a good point, @estefan.
Reading that made me want to compare the Critic's Choice and Oscar Best Song winners. After all, Frozen won Best Song at the Critic's Choice Awards this year. In the past 15 years, they have disagreed 10 times (66%). I guess that's the fun of this category, the precursors don't make it so obvious who the Oscar winner will be.
Note: I still think Let It Go is winning the Oscar Sunday

I always think (and the Oscars tend to do this) that the original song winner should go to the song that does the best at adding depth to a movie. This year the only songs to do that are Let It Go and The Moon Song.

The only people i'd feel bad for are the ones in Japan, since it officially comes out in 2 weeks.
