I like each Star Wars movie in its own way. Can't rank 'em. Sorry.

I agree entirely with Loomis.

[quote="Loomis"]

1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars
3. Return of the Jedi (because it is just like the above - with muppets!)
4. Attack of the Clones*
5. The Phantom Menace*

*On any other list of faves, these two wouldn't make the cut. At all.

Actually I might put an (*) next to return of the Jedi as well. From what I understand, the original script for Jedi had Endor inhabited with pissed-off enslaved Wookies, not dopey Ewoks. The Ewoks were added because of marketing synergy possibilities with children's toy companies, happy meals, etc. If you could substitute out Ewoks and replace them with pissed-off Wookies this would've been a MUCH better and slightly darker movie. Also, delete that new song and dance number added for the special edition. And shorten some of the Lando BS.

Oh yeah, and get rid of the "celebration" nonsense.

Fortunately this is what we'll be getting in Revenge of the Sith.

What is the galaxy supposed to do when the Empire crumbles?

Have you ever noticed how the whole galaxy doesn't really care that much during those movies, unless the few ships owned by the Empire are around? I suppose the whole galaxy would do what Iraq did when Sadam was removed from power, spend a whole lot of time trying to figure out what to do next, figure out how not to be attacked by fringe groups looking to take power during a period of unstability. Once the "empire" is removed, it's not like there's a new system of government immediately in place. Just the opposite, suddenly, there's nada. I don't think your average citizen is going to be particularly jazzed about that. From the depiction in the SW films, as in the first episode, cough, "four,", most average citizens get along fine, more or less (see Tatoine, sp?, or later, the Cloud City, despite the Empire.

I know what you mean. There really is next to nothing that shows that the Empire is ruling with an autocratic iron fist. There's a lot of things in Star Wars (all five movies) where you "just have to take their word for it." For example, there's basically next to nothing that shows that Boba Fett is the greatest bounty hunter in the galaxy. He makes a good guess about where the Millennium Falcon is hiding and then he falls into a hole with teeth. Wow, some bounty hunter.

1-Empire Strikes Back
2-Star Wars
3-Phantom Menace
4-Return of the Jedi/Attack of the Clones (tie)

I wish it had been Revenge of the Jedi directed by David Lynch.
Loomis wrote:lord-of-sith - I can't believe you've ranked Attack of the Clones over A New Hope!!! Did you have the dialogue turned off in AoTC? Because it did look cool. In parts.
That's a great idea. Next time i watch it i'll turn the center channel off.

2. Attack of the Clones
3. Return of the Jedi
4. The Empire Strikes Back
5. The Phantom Menace

Plus, it is not so much that they are muppets, but the amount of them. All of those different species weren't really needed to tell the story - but they were needed if he wanted to sell a lot of toys!
I think all the spieces WERE needed. Its a galaxy with over a thousand different inhabited worlds, there are bound to be many different species and not all of them are going to look human. Besides, who cares if he did want to seel more toys? I remember me and my lil buddies loving all the different toys and merchandise, so I see nothing wrong with that.

But anyway, we better end this before it becomes another Bible reading thread-type of thing.

I think people should spend millions of dollars to make a movie but then not charge anybody anything to watch them. That way they will be doing it for the art and not for the money.

I believe Star Wars started as this one cell and all this tension built up into it until there was this big bang and then all of a sudden Star Wars was filling the empty expanse of the universe. And then after several million years lightning struck it and it came to life and slowly evolved to higher forms of Star Warsness.

I take Star Wars literally.

Do NOT challenge Attack of the Clones' dialogue.

Okay, but I am not going to argue with you about it, I only want to discuss it. Now I say that I am actually Yoda, now you need to try to disprove that.

I wish you guys would stop arguing about it. As long as you are good to your fellow men all roads lead to Coruscant.

No, disagree with you, I do. To accept the Force is the only way. The Force is the way, the truth and the light of energy that leads to Coruscant. Believe some ancient Holocron do you? You have no need for any Holocrons if your ally the Force is!

I'd just like to point out that while I do believe in the Force, I am not a Jedi. Organized religion is just so... blah.
