It would be interesting if it wasn't. Brave notwithstanding, we never had a Disney Princess movie without characters bursting into song. A little change of pace wouldn't hurt.TsWade2 wrote:I hope Moana is a musical. Like maybe either Alan Menken or the Lopez couple should do the songs.

Well that's because Brave is a Pixar movie. Yes it's a Disney movie too, but it's also Pixar movie.Mach Full Force wrote:It would be interesting if it wasn't. Slightly off topic, but I saw Atlantis the other day, and the fact that it wasn't a musical was admittedly refreshing. That movie could have benefited from being a miniseries / a longer movie, though.

This is exactly why I said "Brave notwithstanding". Because it's by Pixar.TsWade2 wrote:Well that's because Brave is a Pixar movie. And Brave was really boring. So I hope they keep making them with music.
I hope Menken is on this film with M&C.

If Moana does become a musical, it doesn't seem like it would involve Alan Menken's music.

No, but possibly Robert and Kristen Anderson Lopez.Semaj wrote:If Moana does become a musical, it doesn't seem like it would involve Alan Menken's music.

Do you think he's been booted off the Disney lot now? He seems to have zero involvement with anything upcoming from Disney...Semaj wrote:If Moana does become a musical, it doesn't seem like it would involve Alan Menken's music.

Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
I doubt he's been "booted" off the lot. His style just may not be what film makers want these days. It happened with the Sherman Bros. too. I think it was either Waking Sleeping Beauty or The Boys that talked about the Sherman Bros. pitching for The Little Mermaid but the studios ultimately going with Ashman and Menken.Atlantica wrote:Do you think he's been booted off the Disney lot now? The Sherman Bros. wrote great stuff (Mary Poppins/Jungle Book) and some not as great stuff (Sword in the Stone/Bedknobs & Broomsticks). Same with Menken . . . Home on the Range and Tangled seem to get a lot of criticism. Obviously personal preferences exist and there will be those who love songs from those films, but I think in general people most people don't remember them much.
I do think the whole thing is cyclical . . . So if the Lopezes prove to be the "it" team over the next decade, give it two decades and there's a good chance someone else will surpass them.

I was thinking about how Lasseter has basically exiled him, too, which makes the possibility less likely. Which is hilarious to me when you consider that Randy Newman probably has a better chance of doing Moana...Atlantica wrote:Do you think he's been booted off the Disney lot now? I had just had the hope that maybe he and M&C would get to be on the same film together one last time. It's really too bad he got booted from The Princess and the Frog.

Guuuuys...

Source: http://ging-ler.tumblr.com/post/7983011 ... alt-disneyUpdated Disney (Walt Disney Animation Studios, not Pixar) animated movies lineup.
Moana has been moved up to 2017 and renamed Spirited, which is good news for us since it means it’s doing well in production!
The untitled teen space race movie has been given a presumably temporary name, Galactic. Jennifer Lee is set to co-direct this one.
King of the Elves seems to be dong well and is set for a 2018 debut. It has been shelved for years, but was recently put back in production and even competed with Frozen for a release date at one point!
Otherwise, all else seems to be the same and hopefully doing well. I’m excited for to see how everything progresses!

The image is fake and the information completely fabricated! Honestly, what is it with some people and their love of spreading lies like that? Do they get a perverse pleasure out of fooling others?
Re: Musker & Clements' Moana
Hmm. I have to admit, Spirited is a much better title than Moana.Warm Regards wrote:Guuuuys...
