Well, Andrew Millstein has confirmed that RIGHT NOW, there isn't a sequel. Plus, why there was a terrible marketing:

In the first presentation of the film through our marketing, we wanted to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. We love to set our films up so audiences discover something new in the film, something they weren't expecting.

Iger said in January that there will be a Broadway musical version of Frozen. What about a sequel?

At the moment, there's not a sequel on the drawing boards. Could there be? Sure. But we're not engineered around the predetermination of that.

Looks like FROZEN IS getting a sequel. Someone on Tumblr said they just announced it on ET.

I need to see the actual announcement from Disney before I believe it's actually going to happen. Not that I doubt it will, just because I need it to be official for me to accept the news.

Also I'm going to re-post what I said on my thoughts on a sequel to any Disney Film Such as Frozen and Wreck it Ralph from a few pages back.

I'm going to say something that might not be popular but here it goes.
I wouldn't mind seeing a Sequel to Wreck it Ralph or even Frozen, only if it's in theaters first and greatly improves over the original and not a DTV release ala Planes (or at least how it was suppose to be) It's been about 6 years since Ariel's Beginning which was the last DTV Animated Disney Movie. The First DTV movie Return of Jafar was 20 years ago and the worst one that was made Cinderella II was 12 years ago and I think enough time has passed to give the current Disney a shot at making a sequel to Wreck It Ralph or even possibly Frozen.

Also remember what Lasseter said about the DTV Sequels, that no more would be made except for the Tinker Bell Films and if it would benefit The Disney Princess Franchise which is why at the time the only one that they continued to make was Ariel's Beginning dropping plans for Dumbo II and others, so technically a sequel could benefit Frozen, their Disney Princess Franchise, hence not breaking their promise completely

I'm not sure if this has been brought up before - does anyone think Frozen will get vaulted? Since I was young throughout the 90's renaissance I'm not sure how those films were vaulted.. were they just advertised as being available "for a limited time?" I could see Frozen being added to the diamond line (or whatever it will eventually be.) Based on previous princesses, they will most likely have their own merch for a little over a year before being added officially to Disney Princess merch. I wonder if after that would be when they vault the film (if that were to even happen. )

And Jennifer Lee made no mention of Hans's horse being his only friend, not did she call him a "sicko." What she simply said was:

I know but, judging by the movie, and how Hans has developed into a adult, he gets along well with horses, but humans, not so much. He could of had some human friends, but I doubt it.

No she didn't call him a sicko, that was me. Just because I like Hans, doesn't mean that I excuse his wrong actions, and I didn't mean to try and say that Jennifer Lee said that, just that she said that Hans was raised without love.

Yeah, Hans is getting the Loki treatment a lot.

Because on Tumblr his tag is like 90 per cent hate and Hans bashing, it's hard to find something positive about him there. I wouldn't want him getting the Loki treatment, or the hate treatment, just.... " you like this character, but you realize what he did was wrong " that would be nice c;

In other news, Frozen's soundtrack has now sold 952,000 copies in the US and will likely hit the million mark next week (it sold about 88,000 this last week).

Whoop whoop! I wonder what the best selling Disney soundtrack is? On my Little Mermaid re-release one from 2001 it says it went 'multi platinum'; I presume BATB / Lion King etc must have done even more on top of that?

They haven't vaulted their other modern movies such as Tangled, Wreck It Ralph, Winnie the Pooh and others, so I'm at least guessing that means only the big guns (Lion King, Peter Pan, etc) and their DTV sequel counterparts will be the only thing vaulted.

However I wouldn't mind if they vaulted Chicken Little and it never came out.

Given that this is theatrically their most successful film ever (unadjusted), I think it's a near certainty it will be Vaulted at some point. Perhaps once sales dip, they'll quietly let supplies deplete without restocking, and follow up later by removing it from digital stores. I don't think this will happen too quickly, though, as they're going to want to establish the franchise while the hype is still fresh -- so Broadway production, short films, Disney on Ice, etc.

Then, once the Diamond line wraps up, likely with Pinocchio in Spring '16, they'll rebrand and relaunch the line, with Frozen added to the lineup. I'm guessing by that point, everything will be Blu-ray (for enthusiasts) and digital (for everyone) only, but hopefully hard drive costs and Internet speeds/bandwidth are enough that they can justify improving digital HD bit rates.

The Lion King is the best selling Disney soundtrack with 10xPlatinum / Diamond Certification, followed by The Little Mermaid certified 6xPlatinum in the US.


Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast have a 3xPlatinum certification each.

I thought B&tB and Aladdin would be higher, since "A Whole New World" and "Beauty and the Beast" were bigger on radio than anything from TLK or TLM.

I doubt Frozen will sell as much as any of those. Physical albums, in general, don't sell as much as they used to.

Well, we do know this much:

Bobby & Kristen: Actually, we kept fighting the whole process to get a Kristoff song but Kristoff is such an introvert. He's the type of character who wouldn't sing until Anna helped complete him and by then we were into action all the way through the film. For the Broadway version you can rest assured we'll give Kristoff a bigger, longer, song.

Depends on what you count and what you don't. Some people don't count the shorter songs or reprises, but if they're significant enough, I do. On the flip side, I don't count "Disney Chorus" endings if it's just like two lines of lyrics to bookend the film. I believe these are the ones I'd count as songs, but I might be missing some... I'm just going off my iTunes library.

Frozen certainly has the most variety of songs, but Pocahontas has enough reprises significant enough that I consider as separate songs to have the highest overall total. Though, since I included "Vuelie," perhaps I should include "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in "The Lion King"...

I think we should restrict ourselves to original theatrical releases -- no extraneous material like "Human Again" or "Morning Report."

Also, I think that if a reprise follows a song with no song intervening, it's still part of the original song, not a new number. Thus Belle and Belle reprise are really one number, whereas FTFTIF and its reprise, in Frozen, are far apart and significantly different in tone and character, so do merit being counted as two distinct songs.

Basically, Pocahontas excepted, Frozen really does have more songs than usual.
