It's because it's time consuming to remove the vocals from the background music from the actual movie. It's easier to just have someone in studio redub the voice with no background music to remove or dim. If you pay attention to the ones that do use the original audio, there is an abrubt piece of the score clashing with the score of the trailer.

Yeah, I thought about that, too and it makes sense. I do appreciate that the redubbed voices kinda sound like the original voice actors. :)

Why do they redub these trailers? They did it with the Platinum Edition trailer and the Cinderella Diamond Edition trailer.
So the background notice doesn't clash with the trailer music.

In all of the re dubbed trailers we've had their usual / current speaking voices, so it's done very tastefully.

Thanks guys who liked my cover idea!

You know, I used to think that the reason they re-dubbed the voices in the trailers was because they couldn't remove the background music from the vocals. But then I listened to this (amazingly awesome!) trailer (click here to open link) and they have the original voices with the new music, so...maybe they can remove the voices and it's just a pain to do so, like DancingCrab said.

You made me curious. I'll try that as well on my 3D TV.

Let me know what you think! :)

I watched the final battle and the ending in 3D, and I quite agree with what you said, it is utterly breathtaking. If they do decide to someday convert it into 3D, it would be worth a watch. :D

People, give it up:

a) Disney will never convert a Walt-era film to 3D, cause that implies tampering with the original art, and all the makers have passed away. It would be disrespectful.

b) The only disney movie that made serious money being RE-ISSUED in 3D was Lion King. I read somewhere it costs around ten million dollars to convert one of these movies into 3D (add to that distribution costs and marketing)... there is a reason why Little Mermaid never made it to theaters in 3D.

c) The sale of 3D TVs isn't doing too well, generally speaking.

Like I said. Give it up.

Point (a) is simply not true, for a bunch of reasons.

Warner Bros. converted The Wizard of Oz in 3D, and they did an awesome job. In the case of Disney, all their conversions were tastefully done. If they will someday convert Sleeping Beauty, I'm sure they'll treat it with the upmost respect and care and the final result will be stunning.

I don't know about 3D TV sales, so I can't say anything about that.

they already tamper with the Walt era films whenever they do one of those "restorations."

Its not about what is harder to convert... its the concept.
THese are paintings and drawings by people who are no longer with us. It would be like going to a museum and taking old paintings and making them into 3D.

And restoration is a completely different thing. They are trying to preserve things, not modify them (even if they fail at times).

One way or another, this was only one of three reasons I mentioned before why Disney wont bother turning Sleeping Beauty to 3d

Hey Marcey, I thought you meant that if they would consider converting the film in 3D, it wouldn't be as good as the other ones, that's why I used The Wizard of Oz as an example. It's a much older film than Sleeping Beauty, and it still looks okay in 3D.

But I see your point about the difficulty of converting it. And yeah, I don't think it's a project they'd embrace soon.

Loving the new Blu-Ray artwork (aside from the text going vertically down the middle), but conflicted about this release. Disney knows how to get my money for sure; I already have the Platinum Edition on Blu-Ray and will most-likely end up getting this release if not only for the cover artwork!

Hopefully there will be something on it worth the double-dip.

All good, Teppy :-)

I doubt I will buy the Diamond edtion. Main reason: Im already super happy with the special edition and platinum edition. I think they were GREAT releases, with amazing special features. I can't think of what they could add to make it better....

Hmmm... maybe the original spanish dub... but that won't happen.

Warner Bros. turned Dial M for Murder and Wizard of Oz to 3D so it can be done. Sleeping Beauty in 3D looks amazing! They'll stupid if they do not! Besides Sleeping Beauty would not need to be altered since it was created in cinemascope.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! The art stands out even more in 3D. I must watch it in 3D again! lol
